I've startet Bloodborne 3 weeks ago. Gascoigne was very hard, but he told me how to play Bloodborne. Its interesting to se that he was once supposed to assist you, it would made the fight even more intense.
@@dheerajdhaliwal7148 Thanks, I've already beaten the game but I have to do the Chalice Dungeons. But they are tough from what I've seen. Well, at least I managed to kill the Orphan of Kos. He was really hard but I think he's my favorite Boss from the DLC.
Great to see this, Gascoigne is my favorite character in Bloodborne, but I can easily see why they cut this. His presence, as a helper, would completely upend that early game struggle for survival we have before getting our first Insight and access to leveling. Also, Soulsborne is a solo-style action game; seems kind of awkward. That, and what if he died before the appointed boss fight; killed either by you, or a beast? That, and is fall would seem rather sudden and it would take away from the punch. This whole thing would have been great to leave in if Gascoigne was a quest NPC like Albert, but not for a story. Although it would have been nice if they let you talk to the Gascoigne you can summon -- they had the lines already.
Tbh they could have easily solved it by having him initiate the dialogue when you first summon him with the old hunter bell, with the other piece of dialogue playing when you defeat the cleric beast and or get him to leave via the silencing blank. It's one of those rare cases where I think it was a mistake to cut it completely. Having it in really would have made his boss fight and subsequent beast transformation that much more impactful. It would show the player that even the oldest and most experienced Hunters are not safe from beasthood and have the potential to become a dangerous enemy at a moment's notice
I really, _really_ can't understand why this was cut, as well as the content with Maria and Simon. But still, thank you so much for this; your videos offer many fascinating insights into what could've been and I really enjoy them!
I summoned him and really like his style and Axe Swinging, though he can't help to dead during cleric beast encounter. Then when I met him again as a boss, I was in shock. He really lost his humanity during this hunting night.
0:40 Ive been thinking for long time how cool it would be if you had multiple encounters through the game with hunters who do their job. Its amazing to see that that was even the plan. Its a shame that the idea was discarded.
This is canon. I don't care if we don't see it in the final version of the game, this is an essential part of the story that never should have been removed, at least as far as the interaction goes. This adds so much more to the encounter you have with him as a boss, to see him as an accomplished hunter, but hear from his quips that he's way too ready to slaughter, even saying that it might be best to kill someone even if you're not sure that they're a beast. Even if they had to cut him helping in battle, he should have been interactable before righting him as a boss.
Shame we didn't fight Gascoigne during midnight. I think his arena looks far better lightining/atmosphere wise in the alpha, where it's dark. Plus, I have no idea why they would cut this stuff. Just develop it a tiny bit further and it's good.
Gosh just think it's your first time playing a from software game you're having a difficult time getting past the burning werewolf and then gain a companion to help, you're having a great time, probably killed the cleric beast finally leveled up again but then your new friend runs off and the next time you meet it's kill or be killed
I like how in Deracine, From has these two easter eggs of bloodborne that refer it as an unfinished tale. I do hope that they want to make a Bloodborne 2
It is a crime we didnt got that. A progression through the cleric beast "door" and much later boss encounter vs gascoigne wouldve been too good for a single game, so they cut it.
The fact that he takes a while to stop beating the shit out of something after its dead fits his character and the state you find him in during the full game 😭😔
Yes i love the voice work for gascoigne, he really is one of the more dynamic characters in BB, reflecting the possible fate of our own hunter. We get so little of his character in game that this practically doubles his in game characterization. Thanks again, lance.

This is so awesome!!!! Father Gascoigne has always fascinated me. IF there will be a Bloodborne 2... I really hope the the game will be focused on characters as Gascoigne, Djura, Izzy and many more! Not to mention the Powderkeg faction, the hunters that burned Old Yharnam, the ''hunters'' wearing the Graveyard set, the Tomb prospectors, what really happened tp the Mad Man in the chalice dungeon. There are so many unknown ''chapters'' from Bloodborne that I want to know more about!

Honestly I really wish they kept it, even if you had to kill him in the end. I like all these little nods to him losing his head too.The laughter at the end of every piece of dialogue, the fact that he keeps mentioning how the hunt feels different tonight and that he seems to be enjoying it a little too much, even the fact that his AI has him hitting the enemies a few more times after they're already dead (similar to how he's hacking away at already dead bodies in his boss fight cutscene). I get the feeling that the idea was for the Hunter to meet Gascoigne on the edge of his descent and then once you make it to the tomb he finally goes off the deep end and turns on you.
Man, I really wish they had left that in. It would've been great for us to develop a bond with him only for him to surprise us by being the first boss of the game, imagine how that twist would've impacted the game and the player's relationship with other npcs! Especially Gascoigne's daughters... damn, as if that wasn't a sad enough story line already. I can understand from a gameplay perspective why they might have omitted this as it could be exploited in the early game or be used as a crutch for rookie players who would be less likely to develop the skills needed to play the game effectively before being thrown into the deep end alone but I feel like the story and player experience would've been all the better for his inclusion as a friendly npc guide and helper until he turns.
So Gascoigne would have been the Solaire of the game -- the helpful NPC who eventually loses his mind, forcing us to put him down. It's a bummer that they scrapped all of this. Thank you for all you do in digging up these gemstones, Lance.
this content has inspired his story in the board game, wow i didnt knew o thought they come up with this just for variation on the board game, good job
this would make the encounter so much more impactful? like you meet these kids who are worried about their mom, find out your friend has turned into a beast, after using the music boss then it clicks hes the dad, you find the dead mom. now your only friend in this hell hole is dead and his kids are now orphaned. wouldve been interesting if you could send them to the ward. if you clear the beasts and lead them to the ward they get there safe or if you just tell them to go there you find out they died
Hi Lance, I know this video is 2 years old but I just wanted to point out that they didnt completely remove the possibility to summon gascoigne. Get an insight before going into any of the two boss fights (gascoigne & cleric beast) and get yourself the old hunters bell. Then go to the location where you first meet gascoigne (the location you show in this video) and you will find a summon at this place. You can summon gascoigne to help in the cleric beast fight.

*Edit* I wonder the same about taking him to his home though.. I can't remember if his daughter was in the beta build or not.
If you play the music box in front of him during the boss fight he starts to cover his ears and stunned
Ohhh sweet game of kos, A bottomless curse, a bottomless sea, accepting all that there is and can be.
I've startet Bloodborne 3 weeks ago. Gascoigne was very hard, but he told me how to play Bloodborne.
Its interesting to se that he was once supposed to assist you, it would made the fight even more intense.
Nice, dude happy hunting.
@@waveburner1254 nice man, haven't played the chalice dungeons myself. Kos was a great fight, I enjoyed beating Ludwig in the Dlc.
Hello, good Hunter.
I misread that as Bloodborne 3 you got me excited there for a second
What would happen if you take Friendly Gascoigne to the Little Girl?
If you summon him in the final version, when you walk him to his house and talk to his daughter he does nothing... I was disappoint
I took his phantom and there was no reaction
He just straight up leaves in mine.
Carlos Amoros probably cause he’s a phantom
Phantom Gascoigne has no reaction if you bring him to his house, however he will do a little chuckle if you play the music box near him
I think it would've really fit Bloodborne's tone if he stayed like this for the beginning, and then we had to end up fighting an old friend.
It's beyond ridiculous how much stuff was not only cut, but how much of it is still restorable
Jan Kalný Normal for every game.
Glad to see you're still finding stuff in Bloodborne. It's my favorite Soulsborne game.
Papa Gascoigne is my favorite BB npc... thank you so much for uploading this!! :)
Shame we didn't fight Gascoigne during midnight. I think his arena looks far better lightining/atmosphere wise in the alpha, where it's dark.
Plus, I have no idea why they would cut this stuff. Just develop it a tiny bit further and it's good.
I love his voice and laugh! ❤
His laugh is legendary! “Ha ha haa!”
Gascoigne is a savvy savage in the cut content. A man you can go to the pub with and win a bar fight.
Really amazing work discovering this.
All enemies do that when they kill you. That's just how the A.I is designed
That explains what that cut Gascoigne dialogue was for.
Yes i love the voice work for gascoigne, he really is one of the more dynamic characters in BB, reflecting the possible fate of our own hunter. We get so little of his character in game that this practically doubles his in game characterization. Thanks again, lance.
Absolutely fascinating to watch! Thankyou for continuing to upload these Lance. Also excited for when you start to poke around Sekiro. Your work is such a joy to watch!
Imagine going out on your first hunt and a 7ft tall Irish wolfman starts seducing you with a soft voice before chopping beasts into sashimi with an axe like it's a guillotine.
Rad.
Started with DeS and BB is my favorite of the soulsborne. All the cool shit you find cements why I love the game so much, the creators loved it also. Keep it up I will never not click a soulsborne video from you.
I'm coming to this five years late but - thanks for this hugely valuable upload, friend!
Cut dialogue parts
2:00/3:35
3:00/4:22
5:21
new bb content in 2019-20????
*the sweet content, it sings to me*
edit: AAAHHHH WHYD THEY CUT THIS. a cool concept wouldve been he was there to aid you from the very start (also like a free demo on 'coop' so new players at the time would get the hang of it), and then when you reach oedons tomb he becomes lost in the hunt and perceives you as possibly beastlike
There are so many unknown ''chapters'' from Bloodborne that I want to know more about!
i hope there won't be a bloodborne 2, just like i wish there wasn't a dark souls 2
retreading the same ideas is boring
Thanks for the video!
Even five years later, its amazing how much that is yet to be revealed.
His laughter is everything to me
why didnt they keep this, it works for the narrative because we see him kindov insane, then crazy blood drunk later. we see the progression.
At least you can summon him to help you fight the cleric beast, I really loved this character.
I think the voice files were seen before, or some anyway, but I love seeing it in game and hearing it again.
Yes im sure i heard this already. Even the line with umbasa there was a way to hear for yourself on ps4 demo before game release.
Love ur work man...ur a God for Souls community.
We watch all of ur cut content from DS1 to DS3 including BB but a small request we have, plz dont ignore Bloodborne bcz it is the Crown of Souls gaming. Keep sekiro content as well but plz dont forget Bloodborne brother.
May the gods guide ur way.
wow seeing him being able to juggle the scourge beasts was pretty cool
I love how he laughs
Yes! Very Good Content! Gascoinge character is very interesting! Great Work.
Can’t tell you how happy I am to be learning things about my favorite game of all time in 2019, thanks to you Lance. Thank you!
Thanks for keeping us updated with your findings, Bloodborne is among my favourite games and i'll watch any extra content there is to offer
Thank you for all your hard work and for sharing it with the community. These sorts of videos give even more depth to an incredible game.
I love this stuff so much
Man, I really wish they had left that in.
Damn, I wish this was in just for the Gascoigne haHAA memes it'd started at 3:07.
This is actually kind of in the final game. In the area he was supposed to show up you can summon him as a friendly sprint but he has no duologue
So Gascoigne would have been the Solaire of the game -- the helpful NPC who eventually loses his mind, forcing us to put him down. It's a bummer that they scrapped all of this. Thank you for all you do in digging up these gemstones, Lance.
Considering you can summon him in that area
it's a pity they didn't leave in the dialogue
this content has inspired his story in the board game, wow i didnt knew o thought they come up with this just for variation on the board game, good job
Feels like he was a twist on Ostrava. Rather than watching him persist to the end we’d see him die (by our own hands) right at the start
WOW I wish this had been in the actual game! Incredible... Gascoigne is one of my favourites so this was a real treat.
ty for making this. I love u and its my fav game
There's so much cut content in Bloodborne that they could whole new game from it.
Happy Birthday-week Lance!
this would make the encounter so much more impactful? like you meet these kids who are worried about their mom, find out your friend has turned into a beast, after using the music boss then it clicks hes the dad, you find the dead mom. now your only friend in this hell hole is dead and his kids are now orphaned. wouldve been interesting if you could send them to the ward. if you clear the beasts and lead them to the ward they get there safe or if you just tell them to go there you find out they died
Very cool! I am blown away at how much is still being dug out of this game.
SO AWESOME! Thanks for your hard work Lance!
Stuff like this would have made Bloodborne so much better if they kept it there.
I fucking love gascoigne we barely know shit about him but i love what we do know and his fight is great
So freaking good man. Your content is some of my favorite! Gives amazing new perspective on these incredible games.
Such a great video 👌👌👌
Hi Lance, I know this video is 2 years old but I just wanted to point out that they didnt completely remove the possibility to summon gascoigne. Get an insight before going into any of the two boss fights (gascoigne & cleric beast) and get yourself the old hunters bell. Then go to the location where you first meet gascoigne (the location you show in this video) and you will find a summon at this place. You can summon gascoigne to help in the cleric beast fight.
