- The 50 cent pack of BEET seeds I bought at Walmart, made a double row of Tall Top Beets and it's finally harvest time. Beautiful plants, with tender leaves and stems, and I show how to cook the entire plant with a taste test at the end. Enjoy.

Thank you for this video! I always wondered how to cook beets. I am so glad I found your channel. I have learned a wealth of information from your videos. Yesterday my daughter was talking to my Dad & he said he was disappointed with his radish harvest. She told him about your tips on growing them & he was impressed. She said I'm just telling you what my mom learned from a UA-cam gardener that she has learned so much from.
You are so welcome! I enjoy making the cooking videos, and even though they don't get a lot of views, those that watch them do seem to enjoy them.

Quite disappointing to see that you peeled the beets prior to cooking.
Beet skins are thin, tender and delicious. In fact, the skin of a beet is where many of the nutrients, such as fiber and antioxidants, are concentrated. Almost all of the vitamin C is in the skin.
Leaving the skin on helps retain some of the nutrients and prevents the color from bleeding out.
For maximum nutrition, steam or oven roast. Cooking in water draws much of the nutrients away.
That looks yummy.
If you like fresh beets, you would love that dish!
Will have to try cooking some beets, we've only eaten them pickled with eggs.
I had never had fresh beets until I started growing them, and the canned beets I used to hate. But once I tasted fresh beets, I love them now.
Never throw anything away that is edible. That is hard earned money and effort in the trash.
I agree - unless of course you just don't enjoy eating it. I have learned just how much potential food is wasted by humans, simply because we have never been exposed to eating different parts of plants. The Asians are way ahead of Americans in this regard.

I know this, and you know this, but if my wife wants to peel the beets... well... lol
