- How to read an Audiogram and How to Understand Your hearing test results...what do they mean?
What is an Audiogram? An Audiogram is a graph that shows the persons hearing. It tells us the type and degree of hearing loss. The results of the hearing test are plotted on an audiogram. It has an X axis and a Y axis. Some important terms to know, to understand an audiogram: Frequency: The sound frequency or pitch (measured in Hertz) is plotted on the X (horizontal) axis. The frequencies commonly tested are 250Hz, 500Hz, 1 KHz, 2 KHz, 4 KHz, and 8 KHz. Intensity: The sound Intensity or loudness (measured in decibels) is plotted on the Y (vertical) axis. The intensities commonly plotted range from -10 or 0 to 120, in multiples of 10. The softest sound a person hears 50% of the times, at each frequency is his Hearing Threshold at that frequency. The Hearing Level (HL) is measured in Decibels.
At each frequency the person's air conduction (AC) and bone conduction (BC) are tested. 'O' is used to denote air conduction for the right ear. 'X' is used to denote air conduction for the left ear. It is important to note that 0 dB does not mean that there is no sound at all. It is the softest sound that a person with normal hearing would be able to hear at least 50% of the times. Everyone does not have a perfect 0 dB HL thresholds at all frequencies. There is a normal range.
0dB to 20dB = Normal range
21dB to 40 dB = Mild hearing loss
41 dB to 55 dB = Moderate hearing loss
56 dB to 70 dB = Moderately Severe hearing loss
71 dB to 90 dB = Severe hearing loss
greater than 90 dB = Profound hearing loss.

I was about to unlike the video, then the last two examples popped out. A great thing, Thanks.
Ez to understand. Thx!
Very informative, Thank you!
Thanks this video helped me understand my own audiogram and most of it falls in the moderate apart from one bit which is in the severe
Hi, for a hearing aid recommendation please contact us at support@centuryhearingaids.com.
Thanks
You don't even have to hear to understand this, thank you.
Thanks for this, I had a sudden loss of hearing in my left ear about 4 months ago and have just had a hearing test. My left ear is in the range of sever and slightly dipping into profound deaf now but fortunately my right ear has adapted and improved and greater than the normal range with the exception of 4000hz where it just dips into mild deafness. MRI scan coming up to find the cause, specialist is thinking lack of blood flow to ear drum I think. This video was the most helpful I've seen.
+MaZEEZaM Sound hearing loss could mean something more serious. Please get this looked at by ENT otolaryngologist
Yeah, MRI scan booked in.
have your ears improved?
How are you doing now? Any better?
Update us please & thanks ✨🪭🩷🌹✨
How about performing masking bone and air and all the steps with a scenario there is an airbone gap or something that shows the process with the equipment applied for masking ? No videos with masking for air and bone
Thankx alottttt
Tysm sir
soo nice
شكرا جزيلا
Yeaw jadi first student kptm tngok
Can u pls do a detailed video on programming of hearing aids.....Am a budding audiologist
Character In the video It's great, I like it a lot $$
Dear Sir,
Normal Category is 0 - 25 decibels
Mild hearing loss 26 - 40 decibels
As per WHO
Thanks
Zeba
really helpful ......
We are happy to hear your enjoyed the video, you can find more information on our website www.centuryhearingaids.com
What about broken and continous lines on audiogram what they represent
How to determine air bone gap and differentiate bw snhl and conductive loss?
The answer to the question is 9 dB SPL.
thx, finally i know how to read my audiogram 。
im 21 yrs old and i was moderate hearing loss.(audiometry check from last year AUG)
i have question,if possible got the way to recovery hearing without hearing aid?
im musician,i need wear headphone all the time。and now hard to mixing and balancing。。。。
has your hearing improved?
What is recruitment of loudnes?

I have a 55 db mid frequency loss in both ears and was told the loss was "borderline severe" even though I don't really notice much of any functional impairment. Moderate loss makes a lot more sense. Thanks. My audiogram has three lines, Xs, Os, and Triangles. What does the line with the triangles mean?
Hi Cole, X and O is the right and left ear. You can email your audiogram to support@centuryheraingaids.com for more information.
How to interpret whether a person is having conductive / sensorinueral hrg loss with the help of audiogram???
Good
Any solution for moderate frequency
Hello, is there second part of this film (mentioned on the end)?
You can find all of our videos here: centuryhearingaids.com/hearing-aids-101
Sir if the serve hearing loss how to well
Unfortunately, you have plotted dB SPL speech sounds on a dB HL audiogram, which is incorrect.
Sir,I have right ear 40 to 50 mild hearing loss.whether it is recoverable.ENT surgeon told that ear blocked due to dry ear wax.kindly suggest treatment and opinion .Thanks and regards.
What about negative -5?
Is severe hearing loss be treated
Why PTA is not done on 8k All of you reply
Moderate hearing loss hone pr Certificate bn skta h kya
How about examples like the x or o for hearing
Dennis, as the video explains "o" is for the right ear while "x" is for the left ear.
желаю всем здоровья
I do not understand . I had test today and the lady doing test not a Doctor said my test wasn't making sense . The hearing in booth was awful but the sound waves were good .
What does this mean????
Thank you and blessings
Robin, We cannot tell you what is going on since ewe did not perform the test nor have we seen the test results. You will need to talk to your ENT. If you would like your audiogram evaluated please contact us at support@centuryhearingaids.com
i have 4k notch...in my left ear...its at about 40-45db at 4kz...i feel so bad....in my right ear its at 20db for 4khz....i dont even listen to any kind of loud music nor do i work in noisy environment....dont know what could have caused this....i have this muffled hearing as if its cloggy and under water....i am wonderinig if a bad cold about 3 years back could have caused this when i woke up with an achy left ear after sleeping
Bhai balance me problem aati h ya nai ?
Hi In my audio graph right ear graph is ok but in the left ear, two lines are there one continues and another discontinuous
Hi, you can send your audiogram to us to find out which hearing aid would work best for you. We can be reached at www.centuryheraingaids.com. If a line stops it usually means that is where your hearing declines.
the link is not working ( *This site can’t be reached* )
I am from India
@@_Captain_Jack_Sparrow_ Hi, I apologize, we do not service India.
Too bad this wasn't captioned, so that the people who really need this information could access it better.
Hi Linda , When you watch a youtube video see if there`s a CC (closed captions ) at the bottom RHS of your screen . I`m in the profound range & would be lost without it . Hope it works for you .
But why aperson cant hear in such high frequency
Thanks for the thorough guide. But sign languages are definitely NOT "visual aids", they are full languages with accompanying cultures.
Is it possible to get a -5dB result? My results show -5dB for 2000Hz
Some people are even able to hear at -10db for some frequencies, like in my case.
How to calculate PTA in this ???
Please help me
average the db(s) or intensities at 500,1000 and 2000hz .............that is to say add the DBs at 500,1000 and 2000hz and divide by 3.....the values you get is the PTA ....which estimates the SRT by 5db width.
i didn't believe this chart at first until i had 5 test done with the same results lolol. I'm like whelp i guess i need hearing aids xD
Animal 🤢
the music in the background is a bit distracting tbh
Plz hlp me. This report is mybe
.
***Mild conductive hearing loss**..?
If you suffer from mild hearing loss, we have a behind the ear or in the canal hearing aid for you. Please contact us at support@centuryhearingaids.com
Plz help me
Is it just me or does this video has no audio?
My hearing loss goes from mild to profound at 7k Hz.
i have 7 audiogram cant read them i am blind but i stell no hearing aids this is IRELAND
👌👌🚩👌☺️
Anyone else here from an IPS assignment 2020?
It doesn’t explain the audiogram ! What about air conduction vs bone conduction ? Very poor video
