    Always adored these Models ever since I was a Kid,, watching this when it was fresh,, & I do remember this episode.
    British Modelers,, have always been some of the very best !!
    We didn't have Computers or ''stupid' phones back in the 60's & 70's,, & ''a lot'' of Kids back then,, including myself,, learned some serious hand skill sets with building Models,, which also helped me in my 40+ year Mechanic career ect. ect. .

      You must enjoy driving as much as I do sam. I prefer my little Ford Ranger to some of the larger vehicles I've operated over the years where mirrors are essential. I use to be good operating truck and trailer as well. Your ambulance with it's lights and siren would be to much fun for me though. You must feel like a god forcing your way through traffic with that privilege.

      thewanderandhiscomp - I won't confess to the number of hours I've frittered on X-Com2 not mention the original X-Com. I have all the moon base girls purpled out in my game and Straker Foster Freeman are on the frontlines as well. Love to here more details. Forgive my ignorance. What is BRP?

      Sounds like endless fun. Many thanks for kind words but the credit should go to Gerry and Sylvia. Their hopeful imagination for sci-fi pre-dated Rodenberry imho. Absolutely tragic that this show only lasted one season. Obviously my favorite work by the Andersons. Toronto Canada

      I tend to have a slight preference for the American Science "Faction" approach - hard-core Star Trek TOS fan here - the flights of fancy that something like Dr. Who which is a pretty extreme form of British Science "Fiction" style can seem a little silly to me at times. Still enjoy it for what it is though. Canadian science fiction tends to be niche productions that may or may not become successful on the American market hence it's tendency to be a little bit more imaginative than native American productions. Of course the ultimate Science "Faction" production "2001" was directed by a Brit and not withstanding how he stumbled with the Alien sequels, Ridley Scott's Sci-Fi would be in the "Faction" camp as well. I think an American sci-fi writer would have trouble imagining a world like Dr. Who but many Brits have no problem excelling in the "faction" camp. As for Canada we always seem to be something in between the two. Good luck against those dam UFOs.

      Don't worry my dear - I know and love your sense of humor very well - maybe you don't get my Canadian humor here - we all know our military is not formidable and talk about our fleet of 6 old army trucks and 2 old tanks - we don't waste a lot of money on guns and toys like that we're rather smug about it even though others find it amusing - I hope you don't think I was offended - your canoe remark is very funny

    • @sarasarah1810
      @sarasarah1810 5 років тому

      Canadian humor often involves subtle over or understatement - the first thing your remark made me think of is an over-sized red canoe some artist mounted on a concrete plinth in Toronto by a highway downtown - our foolish bureaucrats had to give it an award of course like it was something marvelous - I'm sure any tourist who sees it must think it's inspired by Monty Python or I would expect they think we are absolute simpletons with no sense of real artistry - I would not blame them at all because there are no cour de bois onboard paddling the thing in terror against the rush hour traffic that roars by - the chance to create a really interesting and memorable monument was totally missed by our artistic community as per usual since they all take themselves so seriously
      I will take care in future my love - I would never seek to distress you in any way - I should point out however we did have the third largest navy in the world for a while in the second world war by 1944 - we just think it's silly to maintain a large military when it's not necessary - much higher priorities for government funds - these talentless artists all require subsidies to survive as no one else values their work other than our feckless bureaucrats - you could buy a large modern fleet with the money we waste that way - your canoe remark could have been made by anyone born by in this country - we quip like that all the time here - I therefore grant you Canadian citizenship but it may take a long time for our bureaucrats to send you a passport - I think they are busy deciding which of several childishly bland public art displays should be awarded a prize next so that some silly politician can get his picture taken next to an over sized snow shoe this year - my god we do make ourselves look foolish so often - there is a canoe museum less than a mile away from the plinthed one but I swear to god that was not planned - that's how ridiculous my home and native land is - you are welcome anytime and please bring your sense of humour - you will find much use for it here - so sorry I may have even have caused you the slightest concern - we say sorry to a tree if we bump into it as well here and the strangest thing is we really mean it too - be well sweetheart

    After the destruction of the SM the correct tactic would be to send both the remaning vehicles in but that would interfere with the plot of the story. It was one of the worst storylines in my opinion along with the cat episode and when Straker had to repair SID. I liked the Dalotek Affair and Close Encounter as my favourites.

    • @FandersonUfo
      @FandersonUfo  6 років тому

      Mr. Paterson - I think you are starting to cut the original story writers some slack in regards to precise military procedures. I enjoy documentaries depicting military tactics but drama bogs down and gets very boring quickly if the reality of combat is depicted too faithfully. Is it not often said that a soldiers life is 99% utter boredom and only the rarest moments of real excitement occur. Difficult to keep the viewers coming back every week if your drama resembles an army training film. You and I might enjoy it but many would not.

      I liked "The Dalotek Affair" too. On the other hand, perhaps the most depressing 'UFO' episode was "A Question Of Priorities", in which Ed's son dies and Ed's ex-wife blames him for their son's death. This episode was more suited for a soap opera than for a sci-fi series.

    The UFOs had lousy aim and a pathetic rate of fire. Plus, why does SHADO, an organization whose very existence is top secret, plaster its name and logo on everything?

    • @FandersonUfo
      @FandersonUfo  Рік тому

      tricky to have precise aim from inside a spinning craft - SHADO could claim to represent Supreme Headquarters Allied Defence Organisation - much like the term SHAEF Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Forces was used in WW2 - 🛸✨
