I don't think people in the west realize the sphere of influence GD has on the fashion industry. I've told people for many years that he sets the status quo for fashion trends, and often times the trends we see here in NA/EU can have their origins traced back to GD to some extent. However, sometimes it takes a couple years for his influence to trickle down to the west and by that time, his style has progressed to a whole other direction. He was rocking brands like Chrome Hearts and Thom Browne for almost a decade before celebrities in the west caught on to it.
Oh yeah for sure, his view on fashion is so far ahead. People in the fashion industry see it, hence, he’s invited to so many shows that no other Korean celebrities can imagine. He’s also close with the most influential people in the industry. No coincidence there, he’s just as influential as they are
I love the fact that he does not just wear the clothes the way they are . He is not just wearing a brand , something someone else designed He will take that and add his touch and it becomes something new unique to him.

It's weird that he has a great influence while nobody can copy him. I see many famous trendsetters today but imo the way they influence people is like "make fashion more money" and they seem easy to be copied, not as GD.

When you have access to every single piece of clothing in the world essentially, I don’t think it’s that difficult to push the boundaries of fashion and menswear. I find GD to be incredibly overrated in terms of his style.
He actually wasn't born with that access you know, he earnt it. It's understandable you think that way if you haven't been there from the start. But Korean street styles and idols fashion now are basically collections of what GD started and trended.
