- G Dragon is a trend setter! Today's video is FASHION EXPERT REVIEWS: Big Bang Airport Outfits - G DRAGON. G Dragon originated the airport fashion trend and he has some of my favourite looks that I've reviewed here on my channel.

Fun Fact: G-Dragon is the one who popularise airport fashion through kpop idols ☺️☺️
He said that in the video multiple times.
There's a reason he's not just considered the King of Kpop but also the fashion king. Not many realise this but modern kpop and most trends wouldn't exist without him.
I was explaining that to 3rd/4th gen stans and they said gd is irrelevant and kpop idols don’t have him as their inspiration when even idols insta photos today are inspired by the way gd presented himself a few years ago lol

I know how you feel. :/ I was away from the Kpop world for a few years and when I came back i was shocked how toxic and ignorant new fans were. The way they try to discredit Bigbang like they did nothing is just appalling. I was there when "Heartbreaker" caused a literal cultural reset in Korea and beyond (that's how i found them and I'm European) and I'm not even going to mention Fantastic Baby... Let's ignore the impact he had on the fashion and trends but he's the guy that popularised self-producing idols and came up with the idea of a lightstick!
The sad thing is that you can't do anything about it when people choose to keep their eyes closed.

@@48mavemiss2 it's not that gd 'invented' it, gd also has references and inspirations, but he made it popular in Korea, i don't know how to describe it, it's like the colorful/flower/tattoed/sad artist , that takes blurry pictures with the flash on, yeah that kind of aesthetic, he bought that to Korea, and the fact that now the 'kpop' fashion aesthetic is a thing on tiktok with young teenagers, GD is a fashion icon, period.

What's interesting about GD is he's always been part of modern fashion, he started a lot of trends without people realizing it. Like literally, his creativity is unlimited and as a fashion lover in general, and as a person who learned design through college, and has been a designer for years now, I put huge respect for this guy and everything that he did for the fashion industry. He's such an inspiration.

I don't care about brands. As long as I feel its comfortable, I'll wear it.
When Bigbang started he used to sew and took part in their outfits.
Daisies on the shoes (outfit 4) are GDragon's signature flowers! You can spot daisies on many of his clothes, also on Nike 'Para Noise' shoes. He made collaboration with Nike some time ago.
GDragon is also a king of mixing feminine and masculine. You should look into his photoshoots for Vogue Korea or Harper's Bazaar. The man is a real fashion icon. Collaborations with various brands, designers, high fashion photoshoots for magazines, attending fashion shows, being an ambassador for Chanel, having his own fashion brand... He's killing the game since 2006 lol

@@georgehollins oh all his Vogue covers and shoots are definitely a starting point. Also since you mentioned you enjoy the mixing of the feminine into outfits the 'blacktwins' Vogue shoot is a definite recommendation if you ever have the time.

G-DRAGON is the celebrity of the celebrities, locally and internationally! You can't say you're a Kpop lover if you don't love/know him. He's an idol, singer, dancer, rapper, songwriter, producer, fashionista, artist,... Name it, he can do it!
GD is just on a different league. But even though he's that high, he's still so down to earth.
G-Dragon is the reason why South Korean men are so fashion-conscious now. He literally brought the culture to South Korea for men. There are thousands of Korean fashion business now all over the world, who are thriving because of GD
He was also the one who made the hairstyle mullet a trend. Also he's the first one to make a trend of colored hair on every comeback. Also, his vans shoes, he wear it like a slip on slippers, so Vans redesigned a new shoes where GD or anyone can use it comfortably when they just slip on their feets inside the shoes. He really is a trendsetter. Even Chanel loved his customized printed bags. That's how he is so iconic. He's also the one who started using female clothings in his vogue magazines and other magazines even if koreans will hate him since korea is not yet open with cross dressing or anything about LGBTQ+, but he still didn't give a fck about what k-netizens will say to him. I love him so much!
I wish a lot of new kpop fans would appreciate GD more :(( I think since Big bang is older and not talked about as much they think they arent important but I dont think they understand how impactful they were especially GD! Like for example I know since Im an army a lot of us wanna be like "PAVED THE WAY" or "KINGS" and yes they have paved the way in certain respects, but GD REALLY paved the way for a lot of aspects in kpop and the fashion world. He was my ultimate bias for so many years after all and he truly is the idol of idols ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Exactly, especially when his "dating news" with Jennie came out, a lot of new kpop fans disrespected him comparing him to their faves, when they actually not half the man he is!

I think its very much a new kpop fan mentality to compare idols. We kinda always have but they take it to a whole new extreme. Since I dont think there is any kpop idol that is at GD's level, especially with his connects with fashion brands

GD is basically at the top of the chain when it comes to fashion. Pioneer and trendsetter, GD for luxury.
What I find special about Gdragon as a fashion icon is that I geek over his styles, his outfits as it is, Im a sucker for them iconic brands but with gd, I dont even find out the brand, the brand doesnt stand out, HE stands out. It's not fashion that everyone can pull off, among all icons in the korean industry or even the industry in general, its his fashion that feels most personal.

G-Dragon was the idol that enticed legendary fashion labels to ride into the Kpop wave. When he said he was just wearing the clothes he likes, that was actually true.
When GD didn't have the money yet, he would go to the market, mix and match the items he likes. When he started to earn more after they hit it big a year after their debut, he got to buy items he likes. Fashion enthusiasts from Korea to Japan and Asia took notice of his style. His style was weird but cool. And people just started buying whatever he buys. That's how many fashion houses started to take notice of G-Dragon. He wasn't endorsing the brand, but he was selling their items like hotcakes.
And that's how he ended up getting multiple offers from different brands, including being the first Korean in getting an exclusive sponsorship from the legendary fashion house, Louis Vuitton.
Love your reviews! GD's fashion definitely deserves a part two. I believe in the early years he is more into experimenting outfits but towards the recent years he's more into wearing fashionable but comfortable clothes. It's interesting to see how his fashion has developed.
I actually liked that pink outfit the most even with the yellow/black scarf and the Bennie making the outfit not too fiminime and almost gender neutral
That outfit was one of my favorites from this vid, he can pull it off really really well.

You just discovered a fashion GOLDMINE! G-Dragon has so much to offer if your into fashion. I highly recommend you do a video on just his Vogue covers! The looks are beautiful. Despite being in idol, he doesn't shy away from intensity. You are going to fall in love!
Then theres his stage outfits. He is so fashion oriented and it bleeds so well into his tour looks. For example, his last tour was called Motte which means "womb" in Korean and the color scheme was red to represent blood. The amount of red outfits we got to see were amazing! But my fave detail was his white coat with red dye splattered to mimic a bloody doctors coat after child delivery.
Then theres all the clothes and accessories that he's doodled on himself. He will literally draw all over a Chanel bag to wear to fashion week! Its interesting to see his artwork on different clothes. And while your at it, his looks for fashion week are so iconic! Karl (RIP) was such a fan of GDs fashion sense he photographed the idol himself!

I love that he’s just having fun with it. Some things work and some don’t but that’s what makes him so great - he’s not afraid to try it! His style has become his brand, and successfully so! Your ratings are mostly agreeable, but I just wanna take a second to defend Ji-Yong's outfit in the pink shirt. 😅 This one I think you might appreciate a little more if you knew more about him, it's quite personalized. The black beanie is a signature look he tends to enjoy, and the flowers are daisies, a trademark look for his own personal clothing brand, Peaceminusone. 👌 As a fan of his it always brings a little spark of joy to see him wearing the daisies. ✨💚✨
The scarf I can't say anything for, except that I think he was just doing the usual color pop. 🤷 Not a favorite either, but I get it.

I don't know much. I'm actually interested in the Fashion Design industry, but I don't have any education or even an idea of how to get started other than going to school. (Which I'm so nervous to do in this pandemic, since we don't even know what's going to be "essential" in 3 years lol)

@@georgehollins the yellow-and-black scarf was tour merch from GD's fellow band member Daesung 😄 GD attended one of his Japan concerts and also went on a holiday with him. I think he wanted to wear that specific scarf to promote Daesung's music and as a memory of a nice time spent together with a close friend 💛
