    Turning right bends the truck, turning left straightens it.

      This actually helps me, Thanks for the tip. I failed my AZ road test on July 25th because I hit a cone when I was doing an offset backing. I'm gonna take more lessons on offset backing and 90 degree Alley dock. I gotta pass my AZ road test next time, I need my License.

      Turn into the problem. If the trailer is kicking out left, turn left to straighten it. If it's kicking out right, turn right.

      Thanks, for your quick response,. I am familiar with Adam's great video, but I see what you can do with the Parallel Parking Vedio, you just took up to another level, I am hopeful that you will the same with the AlleyParking, take up a notch or two, just enough to give some reference points so that I don't end up , too early, or late, trying to shimmy the truck into the box.
      I really appreciate your good hearted effort that you share with us in making those videos. I am certain you will end up being the go to instructor on utube.

      Right is fast, but on the blind side. May be wrong. Anytime backing into a dock, move slow. Have a reference point and back to the reference point. Use your pull ups if needed. I will post more videos on alley docking in the week’s ahead. Blind side and sight side. Always try to avoid the blind side

      When entering the alley, if the trailer drifts to the right- quick right then be ready with the left to stop the left movement. In the alley all turns will be quick. Use your pull up when needed.

      When truck drivers back in a alley or dock, their goal is to stay to the left line or to the left of the alley. If they are to the left, the trailer is clearly not going past the right line or out of the alley. I train my students to always back in to any alley center in the lane. Use your pull ups when needed. If you are always going to the right, you are going to deep before turning the steering wheel to the right.

      After your set up, when you are backing in if the trailer is heading to the LEFT side of the dock- you are LATE. If the trailer is heading to the right of the cone or the dock-you are EARLY. If the trailer is going into the dock. You are ONTIME. Please go to my playlist. Click onto CDL College. Alley Dock. To better answer your question. Thank you for your comment

    • @truckerstevecdlinstructor
      @truckerstevecdlinstructor  2 роки тому

      The trailer is about 30 to 40 feet from the cone. I check out the site in NJ. That MVA site the trailer was much closer to the alley. I will need to make a second video for the alley dock with the the rear of the trailer much closer. Not sure when I can get to it. Doing a lots of testing ( third party tester)

    • @truckerstevecdlinstructor
      @truckerstevecdlinstructor  2 роки тому +3

      Front of the Alley to the Front barrier line is 70 feet. You will pull forward and center your rig between the alley Dock and the front barrier line. you will be one full length from the rear of your trailer to the dock. The length depends on the size of your tractor and trailer. See my playlist - CDL COLLEGE Alley Dock.

      Trailer is 90 degrees to the alley. Next, the SET UP. Driver backs up - slight angle- to the alley. Tractor trailer drivers, visualize the path their trailer needs to take. If the trailer starts to drift to the Right, that is early. Drift to the left, trailer is going in Late. Okay, trailer is late- steering to the right ( trailer move back to the left) quickly counter steer back to the left before it goes back early. Please go to mr play list and see CDL College Alley Dock video. Your goal is to be on time. Trailer going into the alley. Small pull ups if needed. Hope this is of some help to you.

    Hey on the first initial turn some would say hard right and yours is slight right what's the difference

    • @truckerstevecdlinstructor

      On this Video, the rear of the trailer is about 20 or more feet from the entrance to the ALLEY LANE. So the driver for his set up, turned the steering wheel about one to one and 1/2 to the right. Backed up about 10 feet - Stop - ( as he backed up, he got his front tires straight) Now the driver looks at the path the rear of his trailer is going. Is it Late / On Time (going into the lane) or early ( heading to the left of the lane ) now this will determine where he will steer. Alley docks with the trailer very close to the Alley lane, yes you may go hard right . Be care full don't jack the trailer. As you back up after the set up, steering wheel is to the left.
      Will try to make a video where the 90 degree is close to the Alley.

    If your trailer began to jackknife which way would you turn your wheel to correct that?

    • @truckerstevecdlinstructor
      @truckerstevecdlinstructor  2 роки тому +9

      Alway turn to the problem. Your trailer is moving to the Left - The trailer is just about where you want it - Stop IT BY TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT- This will stop the trailer from continuing to the LEFT. Learn to control the movement of the Trailer by moving it to the RIGHT- Stop the movement by steering to to Right the move the trailer to the LEFT- Once again stop the movement by steering to the LEFT. The trailer only GOES WHERE YOU LET IT GO. Once you understand how to control the trailer, you now are the MASTER OF THE TRAILER. You can do any range skills. Now let's do it Marcquis, Let me know if this reply was of any help to you, Trucker Steve
