    I got the book in the mail today. I've already read Battle for the Bowling Alley. All I can say it "WOW!". You are an author like no other. It was completely unpredictable. There were new and amazing things introduced in every sentence, especially the first few pages. You exhibit unprecedented wit and humor. Apocalypse Biff reminds me of Bravestarr's Handlebar with Thunderstick's skeletal facial outline. Gibb reminds me of the Star Wars C-3PO error card #207 -- for some unknown reason. So, does *The adventures of the Last Clown on Earth will continue* mean what I think it means?

    • @AtomicSnackBar
      @AtomicSnackBar  2 місяці тому

      Wow. That is the best review I've ever gotten for my writing. Consider me quite flattered and appreciative. Being that you and I have such similar interests, I'm really glad to hear you liked it.
      I enjoyed your mental images a well. I tried not to go too into detail on Gibb's look because I wanted folks to be able to picture him in their own way. But yeah, he could definitely have an error card 207 look once he finds the ... proper equipment.
      As to the tease, The Last Clown on Earth started as a one-shot, almost pilot, comic book that keeps getting put on hold. If I can't get it made, I do plan to turn that story into another short for the next collection. I also have an idea for a possible novella. So Karloff and the gang will be returning.
      Thanks again, good sir.

    You had me at the title, but Sasquatch vs Nessie? And I'm glad that I settled on Karlov as my future character - not only named for the greatest Universal actor AND the Chicago street that I've spent a lot of time driving around as I dash. A fantastic pack of commercials too. 😊

    • @AtomicSnackBar
      @AtomicSnackBar  2 місяці тому +4

      Yes, siree. A bigfoot does indeed rumble with a nessy in the Whiskey Creek story. One of my finer moments, I might add. And it's hard to go wrong with a Karloff.
      Thanks, Doug.

    Since my relative mood lately can be described as apocalyptically noirish, I shall seek this book out and pray that the Karloff the Clown story does not freak me out beyond comprehension (although being in a state of incomprehension might be a good thing for a while).

    • @AtomicSnackBar
      @AtomicSnackBar  2 місяці тому +5

      Karloff is really only a clown due to his facial markings. He is far more the Man with No Name than birthday party clown. Now the other 300 clowns in the book, they are really something. No, I kid. Only Karloff. This time.

    It was really a fun read. The characters were well thought out, the stories were fun, exciting, funny and thought provoking.
    If I had one complaint it would be I was a little disappointed that Gearheart didn't make one last appearence. I really liked that character. So much so that whenever I read his part I always read it in your voice.
    Hope you write another one soon and don't forget Gearheart. He needs his own book.

      Oh man, this comment just made my day. I really appreciate the kind words and that you liked Gearheart. I have a particular fondness for that character as well.
      But worry not, Gearheart will definitely return. The little intro part with him and the elf-like detective Coco was a set up for the next adventure, Midnight City Nights. It will start with her side of what was going on and then join up with Gearheart's story when she calls him for assistance.

      @@AtomicSnackBar I am currently signed on with a self publishing company, because I can’t afford an agent(they are looking for the next best selling author and they are expensive). I have, according to the publisher, a novella that has 250 pages. Not really enough. So I have to send them more stories to augment the number of pages. I have a good feeling about this company because they give the author 100% royalties. If I had a good agent, I’d have to pay him/her almost half of the profits in order for that agent to spread my name around. I hope to be published by or before Christmas. But that depends on the ad campaign by the publishing company. Wish me luck.

      I had a class with a guy in junior college who was a member of a band. He and his bandmates recorded an album. Strangely enough, they couldn’t sell it in this country. But it sold very well in Japan. He gets royalty checks in the mail from time to time then. I asked if he and his bandmates considered playing live in Japan. He said that he was considering playing live in Japan. I don’t know the band’s name or the title of their album. Funnily enough, one of the stories began life as a screenplay I was hired to write. The film never got made, and I held onto the book rights, so turned it into a novella.

The Next day delivery charges probably would be outrageous. Less than the tank of gas it would take me to drive up there. Can you imagine going through Customs and when they ask why you're crossing over into Canada, the answer is: "Donuts."?

      @ destructarr - Step 1 : Write book. Step 2 : get it published. Step 3 : Wait for the Doe-ray-me to roll in. And Step 4, the most important one: NEVER listen to anything I say. I've been working on one for over 10 years and nuttin'. Only take advice from someone who's done it.
