I know my opinion wasn't in the recipe, but it is much easier to filet the fish out that way when you scale the fish first. You also have the opportunity to eat the crispy skin afterwards.
Looks like you gained some weight being absent from the water. That is a lot of gear to haul out, I saw no suffering going out but the show was not over yet. Surprised the first responders were not waiting at the parking lot when you pulled up. Hands down we love watching your "suffering" videos, everyone else seem to have the same content, you are stand out just doing what you do. You brought a mallet to the jetty, LOL! That is priceless!
When Ranell gets on his target fish I get that warm, Christmas feeling inside! Great video! Wish I lived closer to Surfside Jetty, I've never caught anything good at the Bolivar North Jetty. Of course I've never walked that far down it either, just to where it really starts to get crazy broken. Reminiscing about those days Ranell used to go Kayak fishing....
LOL thanks for the great comment. Did you watch my jetty video when I tried to walk to the boat cut couple of summers ago? Neeeever again! As far as a kayak videos, yeah you're probably won't see that until the temperatures drop down at less the 80s to 70s.
@@TheFishAndTripsYes! That walk to the boat cut video was how I found your channel. I was new to the area and looking for videos about North Jetty. It was a good one.
OK, Raynell, I apologize about my comment on your short video. You DID catch some mangrove snapper. FYI. You can use fish carcasses as bait in crab traps in Texas, but not game fish. Since mangroves are not regulated here, you are good to go. Doesn't make sense, but this came from a game warden I talked to recently. Great looking tacos too. Fabulous presentation.
Great Job if you guys don't know him on his videos he has fun and likes to mess with you guys. He knows what they are called and is having fun saying Mango 😂 great job my brother
what up, my african pompano! it's good to see you back at it. this was a banger. after watching this one i don't think it's just cormorants that have it out for you, it's any birds. i'm starting to think that drone you lost back in the day was straight jacked by those sky thugs.
Hey Mann that's outstanding.🐟🐟 Now U got me wondering. I watch the Florida anglers (YT), and Thats one of the most popular fish in that area. Im in sw Louisiana and Never came across them here. must be some kind of Migration pattern, good to know they're this close. Awesome Video Bro👍👍
Thank you and yeah, apparently they're running in the Gulf right now especially in Florida and here in Texas. If you have any jetties in Louisiana this try casting right off the rocks, like literally two to three feet off the rocks with a shrimp free line
yep mangrove snapper taste really good caught a few at seawolf park on the pier on the side close to the rocks . never been to surfside jetty but i will try it. what rig did you use to catch the mangrove were you freelining the shrimp with split shot? i caught them off a popping cork at sea wolf
Free lining with braid, a 3-ft liter, split shot, and small hook. Caught all about two to three feet off the rocks. You going to break off a minimum 5 to 6 times fishing that close to the rocks, but that's where they're at.
Ranell the tortilla taste way better if you cook it🤦.And they damn near taste like the authentic homemade ones.Hopefully ile catch you one day at the jetties one day to meet you.👍🎣
Nice... next time you catch a red or a speckled trout you will not be able to look it in the eye😂😂😂 because they will be mad that you replaced their spot of your favorite fish to eat...

I hate birds like I hate rainbow trout. 😤
Next time substitute the chopped tomatoes for some chopped mangos on the Mangrove tacos. Delicious 🌮
Great video bro.
Thank you David. 😎
The skin is actually really tasty on these… just scale them before filleting and keep it on. Also make the throat for extra nibblin’!

I caught one for the first time last Sunday at Seawolf
Nice, did you eat it?
Never heard it called a mango snapper, but I really want to catch some of those too.
Tacos look bomb.

I agree so far! But I'm still in surch of a jack, pompano and a mango snaper.. 🤣🤣🤣
Well brother, its Mangrove - not Mango. But you're forgiven.
Naaaw, after my tacos. It's official Mango Snappers now. 😎
You need to watch those fingers because your trying to eat fish not fried sticks😂😂😂😂
😂😂
Jacked
And fade your music.
Which music was too loud, intro? 🤔
I'm one of THOSE "Mangrove SNAPPER" UA-camrs you are referring to! 😉😅👍🎣🪨 🌊
