    Amazing work, this really is awesome, this development really helps leverage all those Xeon CPU's that may otherwise be destined to landfill . It is exciting to see these abundant cheap old Xeon CPU's keep up with a modern Ryzen CPU
    I had some Xeon CPU's that I inherited, and a Cheap QIYDA X99 H9 Motherboard, This board can be flashed with Machinist X99 RS9 compatible BIOS ROM , so I used the hz-x99-8m-f.tp.s3tt.7050 rom
    -__Some notes__-:
    The Stock ROM did not allow RAM speed or timing changes and Sleep mode was disabled by default
    The Custom BIOS ROM Allows changes to DDR4 ( Hyper X) NON ECC RAM speed , Including XMP profile ( Actually runs at 2666Mhz) , Manual speed and RAM timings
    The CUSTOM BIOS ROM changes can only make changes EEC Registered Server RAM Timings but speed always runs at 1866mhz
    Intel i7 5820K CPU did not work with either BIOS ( I just wanted to test the CPU) I presume a hardware limitation
    -__Questions__-:
    Is there a way to get the EEC RAM actually running at the speed on the label (2133)?
    Is there a way to disable Sleep and prevent the computer from needed a hard reset
    Notes
    I took a backup of the Factory BIOS if required by anyone

    • @Miyconst
      @Miyconst  2 роки тому +1

      Hi there. Core i7 CPUs are not compatible with Turbo Boost Unlocked BIOS, you need to use a full BIOS with not TBU implemented. Memory overclocking is not possible on this motherboard, with locked Xeons RAM works according to the Intel specs, with i7-5820k max speed is DDR4-2400 and with i7-6800k it's DDR4-2600. Sleep mode can be disabled in the BIOS, look for ACPI S3 settings, and this info explains the ECC REG issue: ua-cam.com/video/HozIT2X-cKk/v-deo.html

    • @Miyconst

      As far as I know, this BIOS does not have any extra / better features, the only change in the BIOS is baked in Turbo Boost Unlock. Thus, I see no point to distribute it as well, but I will double check.

    Good night Miyconst, I was present at Conectatech's live last Friday, I realized by your words that you advise using your mi899 app with Tu Drv S3TurboHack V0.2, but with what undervolt ??? -50/50, -60/50? I remember that I have an x99-k9 with 2630L v3. what is the difference between this driver in addition to the reduced electricity consumption, to the other one that you provided to the conectatech channel? I loved your humility and simplicity in answering all the questions asked, on top of it being too late for you. Thank you very much, big hug and continue with your excellent work.

    • @Miyconst
      @Miyconst  3 роки тому

      Thanks Sérgio! In this case the reduced voltage does not reduce the power consumption, but it helps the CPU to maintain higher frequency. Each CPU is individual and you have to find the best undervolting level for your particular sample. I would go with -50/50 and let it be like that. 99% of CPUs can withstand such voltage reduction.

      I would test the setup with the default settings first, and the go straight to -70/50 if it's stable. So far, all my E5-2678 V3 were stable with such undervolting.

    • @Miyconst
      @Miyconst  4 роки тому

      Machinist X99Z would be my budget pick, and JingSha X99-D8 would be my overall best pick. RAM - Samsung DDR4 ECC REG, frequency does not matter, E5-2640 V3 is limited to DDR4-1866. For undervolting I would try -70mv, and then go to -50mv if -70 is not stable. Driver & TU procedure can be done independently and don't affect each other.

    So, I have a Machinist mr9a v2.0 (non pro) paired with a 2690 V3 ES stepping 2.
    I followed your video and the script for flashing the bios ran without errors.
    However, after reboot, windows 10 freezes 30 seconds after I log in. I tried -70mv undervolt, -50mv, and no undervolt whatsoever, and I get the same result with all turbo unlock bios flashes: Windows freezing. Without undervolt I can actually stay around 3 minutes logged in Windows, however, I don't even see the max clock in CPU-Z active, as if the turbo unlock didn't work.
    Any idea as to why this is happening? Do you think it's because I have an ES CPU, even though it's stepping 2? Maybe because I'm using v2.0 of the mr9a?
    I'm getting kind of desperate and starting to think I won't be able to turbo unlock at all with my setup :(

    What are your thoughts on Xeon E3-1220 v2 + cheap used lga 1155 mobo + 8gb ddr3 1600mhz? I found this mobo + cpu + ram combo on local market for about 76$. This compete with ~130$ x99 Chinese xeon mobo combo with the loss of sata 3 connector and usb 3.0. For an extreme budget gaming rig, I think it's the best bang for buck given it's almost half the price. But how much difference in performance between this two processor especially in games? (taking the speed of ram into consideration) If you do happen to have e3-1220 v2 processor , I'm glad to see the benchmarks vs the chinese mobo :) I think of getting this xeon E3 temporarily mainly for gaming before upgrading to a better one when I got enough money.

      A cheaper option for gaming without losing much performance. While Xeon 2620 v3 is better in multi threaded performance and productivity, I think 1620v2 is better than 2620 v3 in games as it has higher single threaded performance based on PassMark benchmark. I'm not sure if it can be overclocked though. What is your opinion on this? Man they should have a version of PC master race for the best value setup XD
