Im having same exact problem, have not popped off cover yet to look, but vehicle was running fine, got out of work last night to deal with this,if it is the belt what about you think it would be price wise?
Depends. If the customer follows through with the repair through me I usually throw this in as a courtesy no charge. Since I need this to confirm the complaint and also to confirm the repair. At that time it becomes part of the Job. I go by a parts and time Guide. This is a solid set of hours defined for every job. Say if I’m using Mitchell time guid I also use Mitchell repair guide. The first step in these guidelines is usually confirmation. Hence diagnostics. I take that as it’s included in the time guide. However if someone is coming in strictly for diagnosis only. Yes 1hr minimum. This allows for Diagnosis and report. In which I then stand behind.
Keep us posted.
Will do
Tell the customer to look on the bright side: The "Kia Boys" wont be stealing it. 🤣
very true. They can try 😅
OUCH.. that one could get spendy will .. thanks for the vid man !
Ended up getting an engine
The following maintenance applies to a timing belt: 60,000 miles or 10 years if less miles. Very important.
Less if there is an oil leak on the belt so keeping an eye on oil from the front of the timing cover is important, cheers.
i seen no timing belt and the damage done!! (sung to a neil young tune) good luck to the customer on this one!
That’s actually pretty catchy 😂 can you sing this for us mike

Do you charge a minimum diag fee such as one hour? Thanks for the audible and visual verification.

Hi Willy
I'm thinking scrap yard 😉
Hey Steve! Poor kid just bought this a few months back. Hope the car lot gave him more than a tail light warranty
How many miles is on the KIA? I have a 2004 Sorento Kia with 60k, should I worry?
You have the 3.5 v6 correct. 60k is right around the time you should proactively replace the belt on
Thanks @@robinsonsauto
"2006 2.7 Kia shortage"
Hahaha thanks for pointing that out! Spell check got me again. Maybe I should leave it 😂🤣 one less 2.7 from 2006 so there’s some truth to it lol
@@robinsonsauto Keep it for sure. It provided joy. I'm going to call them Kia Shortages from now on.
