  • Construction works have commenced on the Narrow Water Bridge, a 195m cable-stayed bridge linking Co Louth and Co Down.
Drivers, cyclists and pedestrians will be able to use the bridge, which is expected to be completed in 2027. It will also open to allow the passage of ships through and on to the Newry Canal.
Asked if there were concerns surrounding the project timeline and budget, the Tánaiste Micheál Martin has said the bridge linking Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland can be built "on time and within budget".
