- This is a tool-assisted speedrun. For more information, see tasvideos.org/2949M.html. TAS originally published on 2015-09-09.
Fester's Quest, developed by Sunsoft, is based on the 1960s television series The Addams Family. While out one night enjoying a quiet evening of "moonbathing", Fester witnesses an alien invasion occur against the city. Armed with his blunderbuss (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blunder..., Fester vows to stop this invasion by finding and defeating the 5 alien bosses (hidden in office buildings) before tracking down the UFO.
In ars4326 (tasvideos.org/Ars4326.html)'s run, Uncle Fester briskly paces through the game's overworld and sewers, picking up a few sub-weapons from fellow Addams Family members along the way. Doing so allows quick destruction of the alien bosses guarding the clues to the UFO's whereabouts (as well as the final boss).
A time-saving glitch ( • Fester's Quest - Boss ... ) allowing instant wins on all of the game's bosses was forewent also, due to the author's preference not to use it. Watch this run being played back on a real console ( • [TAS Verified] NES Fes... ). - Ігри
The music in this game is incredible
Yeah, jesus, talk about a hidden gem. Too bad nobody will remember it because of the shit game it's attached to.
Came here to say that! Lol. It's freakin epic isn't it?!
Naoki Kodaka and the Sunsoft bass made some of the best NES soundtracks. Batman, Blaster Master, Gremlins II, Fester's Quest and Journey to Silius. Etc.
I never made it past the second sewer level. Looks like I was missing out on... a whole ton more sewer levels.
LOL had the same thought! Never got far as a kid, but the levels didn't really improve much.
He shot the gun to the beat when he was in the sewers lol. You earned a subscriber today my friend
I was thinking this game seems like the overhead section of Blaster Master made into a full game, and then you killed the first boss and it's obvious that is absolutely what they did.
Man I loved ALL the Sunsoft games. Such a unique company. Put out some of the beast ones.
The most impressive thing about this run is how you managed to keep your patience on the last section. Christ, it was so long.
I wonder if this was always an Adams Family game, or if they just got the license for it and used it on a game they were already working on? This game seems really weirdly put together.
Apparently a whole lot of it was borrowed assets because the Japanese developers didn't care at all and were taking directions from a guy through a translator who came up with the idea in a dream. So yeah pretty much. I think a lot of it is borrowed from Master Blaster.
Fester walks outside and in sewers slow, but damn he can handle those hallways
The aliens waxed all the floors.
One of the few TAS runs that are slower than an actual speedrun by a human player.
Thank you for using the lightbulb. I know it's not required in a TAS, but it does make it more entertaining to watch.
I just noticed the weapons, sound effects, enemies, and boss fights are similar if not identical to the Jason walking gameplay in Blaster Master. Both games were made by Sunsoft, so it's not surprising but it's incredibly obvious to me now.
Journey to silius as well.
seizure warning in mazes
but really it made my eyes hurt
Imagine if AVGN saw this.
AVGN: WHAT THE FUCK! THIS PERSON FINISHED THE GAME AND I COULDN’T!
Me: Maybe because You stopped after the stretch alien?
3:57 nes has an awesome 3D frame rate. Tas processing
A not long game.. But hard as omega fuck.. This game is like playing dark souls naked and no evading any atack..
I seemed all "Addams Family" games were tough as hell. "Addams Family Values" on the SNES was just as tough as this one was
Phenomenal run. You were definitely using a turbo controller though.
Google what TAS means.
Glad I got to see the ending this game was brutal if you did not know how to ply
They had to offset the excellent music with crap gameplay. It all balances out.
One of my favorite games as a kid. Sunsoft really had it going. Very hard but fair. Their music hit another level also. :)
live footage of Festerman winning elections:
World is in trouble call Uncle Fester.
Best ending ever...
my iq is probably below zero so basically...
when I was little I thought fester was in a tank lmao.
The music in the T2 nes game was amazing.
Lot of hate on this game in the comments. I loved it back in the day. What were people expecting, Metal Gear?
The original Metal Gear sucked ass though.
The original Metal Gear sucked ass though.
This game is so hard. As an Addams fan I wanted to love this but can't
like chou-wakusei senki - metafight
hack?
Def need a new Tas of this lol
I was watching in disbelief! As a kid I was only able to kill 3 bosses. I struggled killing the chomp chomp creature that phases through walls. Heck, most of the higher level bosses were a challenge! When I died, it was frustrating to start from the beginning. I'll try to dust off my Nintendo and see if my game still works. 🤔
This game was ahead of it's time. No way to finish it, only tool-assisted (but there was no tools).

I sucked at this game when it first came out 😂
Blaster Master all over again, but without Sophia the III (3rd)... Lol...

Gun
I used to not hate this game as a kid... I was a pretty dumb kid.
Man if Civvie11 ever played this game, his head would implode from the number of sewer levels.
This game was a piece of crap, but kudos to this guy who dedicated a ton of effort on the speed run!
Cheater!! 🤪
All you do in this game is go to sewers and some tree area above ground with minor variety, sure the 3D part made jaws drop when kids saw it. Nonetheless, it's a crap game
Ok. After you beat the first alien making your way through the sewers. Right before you left you actually we're able to walk diagonally, I don't remember being able to do that, Is your version of the game a port? Was it a glitch? Or are just scamming people? Also the way you moved seemlessy through the office building to the first boss fight was suspicious too. Great speedrun, Although I can't completely believe it.
Terrible game. Great soundtrack.
Nothing on UA-cam has a legit speedrun of this game; just a bunch of exploiters and posers using programs.
