Here in South Ontario the corn is like 8ft. Tall...and looks the best in years....but there's so much cut hay down and rained on at least 1,2 or even 3 times it's almost black from I can see driving around....there's a chance of rain for 13 of the next 14 days...and even when it says no rain it comes out of now place and bam...everything is wet....the pastures are as green as I've seen them in 20 years....I wish I could send some to you guys out west....
Just remember California is off the drought monitor...things change rapidly and balance out eventually. If you aren't diversified and one bad year takes you out, that's farming reckless.
Good day from Ontario Canada Yes very hot summer this yr. I have serious asthma, I had to retire from work 2012, very hot up here that yr. Neighbour planted field corn, end of March that yr Wonder if things got better since this video? Thanks good luck
The inability of your sandy textured soils to retain adequate moisture almost negates all the good management practices that you employ to make those soils productive. Cover crops planted to increase biological activity, hold moisture and increase organic matter cannot grow well when soil moisture is minimal. Mobile crop nutrients and other agricultural chemicals leach out of the rootzone and not only become an unproductive expense, but they also become pollutants when entering groundwater. Crops in sandy soils have many short duration drought events throughout the growing season between rain events or irrigation operations which hamper growth and productivity. SWRT subsurface membrane technology doubles the amount of water retained in the root zone of sandy soils. More moisture in the root zone means more biomass and crop production and more profitability for your farm.
It's quite devastating in southern Alberta too

Let it rain
Sounds like a good reason to get rid of ethanol mandates & subsidies.
Dry land corn is a gamble. The farmers know this. Good years it pays.
Pouring rain in Massachusetts last 4 hours.
🙏
Believing in that Climate Chaos Science stuff yet? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Its time to ‘farm’ differently. Use permaculture to grow food that humans can consume, monocropping is depleting soils and decreasing rainfall.
Monocropping is a part of the problem, but this is Climate Chaos caused by Burning of Fossil Fuels.
So why do the weeds always grow?
