"To do what no one does, you must go where no one goes." Thanks for the adventures, Gilbert Rowley! I feel like we are fishing right there with y'all! EMBRACE The AWE!
Nice to see these techniques zoomed in on. Binged the masterclass, and kudo's for the way it's presented. Caught some brownies on a bouncing caddis last season here in Slovakia, but never figured it as a technique (since it accidently happened when lifting the line to keep the nimph from hitting bottom :-)). Can't wait to repeat now when the caddis hatch. Keep up the good work, very motivational!
Thanks so much for the report! I’m glad to hear you’ve found success with this technique and that the Masterclass has been insightful. Keep hammering them over in Slovakia! So cool!
Thank you! I totally agree, great looking species to document. If I’m being honest, I didn’t know the name of the birds until your comment. Thanks for the education, I love seeing those birds around!
Another great video, love this technique. I saw you doing it on one of your Buffet videos and tried it and had an absolute blast. Can’t wait to see what you do next!
@@GilbertRowley I've found it hard to get close enough to do it in many cases. I've found a lot of success with long casts and skittering the fly across flats and riffles.
we don’t actually mention location on social media, but I assure you I’ve fished this technique on many different river systems and it works. Give it a shot on your local river and see if it works. Best of luck!
Hey Gilbert, Great video. I have purchased the master class but i haven’t seen the clip on bouncing the caddis. Where do I find that clip? Have there been updates to the class? Thanks!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video! There is a section in the Modern Nymphing Elevated section, and an additional module in the Bonus “Clean Up Game” section. 👍
Great question, I use a head mount since my chest pack is an essential piece of gear for me. A chest mount would be WAY easier to use and I may try to find a way to change this a bit in the future, but for now it's a head mount.
Usually a 2.8mm Tungsten bead, or if I have a very buoyant dry fly you can get away with a 3.3mm tungsten bead. Anything heavy will water log your dry fly too much.
Personally I’ve only ever used this on rivers, but as long as you can stay close enough to the fish without spooking them then it should work there as well.
@GilbertRowley that could be a fun thing to try in still water, hopefully will have a chance this summer to try. Seeing all these fish caught with this method makes me what to use it all the time!
Not necessarily, all depends on what the trout are keying on. The good thing is that when they want it dead drifted you can do this with this same setup 👍

Such a great quote! Thanks for sharing! Glad you came along for the adventure 😁
Absolutely incredible, man! I can’t wait to keep watching the series!!
Thanks Joe! So glad you enjoyed it! More good stuff to come :-)
Great video. Stuff like this is X rated for fly fishing addicts.
Haha, feels like cheat codes out there some days 😁

My pleasure! Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome as usual Gilbert !
Thanks my friend, I hope you’re well!
Loved those Cedar Waxwing shots! Pretty birds in addition to pretty fish. Can't go wrong with that combo.

So glad to hear it! Thanks so much for the positive feedback! We appreciate it!

Thanks! It was a fun day!
Awesome! We love it 💯
Thanks so much, I appreciate you taking the time to check it out! A little different than what I'm used to putting out, but enjoyable. Thanks!

Awesome! Glad to hear you gave it a shot and had success with it! Nice work!
Bouncing flies is my favorite small stream technique for sure. Thanks for sharing your version. I managed to suffer through the gopro footage ;)
Thanks man, different for sure! I wonder, have you had much success on the Green bouncing bugs? I’ve never tried it over there… makes me curious? 🤔

Awesome, on a river of that size that makes perfect sense!
Solid video!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome!!!! ❤
Thanks Ryan! Glad you enjoyed it!
I cant wait for dry fly season
Sure is fun! And with how warm it’s been the last few days, it feels like it’s right around the corner 😁
Great video Gilbert…is this Montana?
Thanks Ryan! No, but this technique most certainly works in Montana 👍
So where is this?

Where do you mount your GoPro when you are wearing your chest pack?

Excellent video my friend! Just a quick question. I don't tie flies(yet). Do you offer those flies for sale anywhere?
Cheers!
Matt
Hey Matt, you bet we do. Most of them can be found at the link below:

Beautiful, which model of t&t contact II is it ?
Thank you! On rivers of this size I use the 10’9” 3wt. It’s my fav!
Would you be able to recommend the length of the leader for a traditional fly rod? Such a cool way to fish!
Absolutely, just lengthen out the butt section a few extra feet and the same leader will work.
How much weight is on your nymph?
Usually a 2.8mm Tungsten bead, or if I have a very buoyant dry fly you can get away with a 3.3mm tungsten bead. Anything heavy will water log your dry fly too much.
I see this being done on a river, has it ever been tried to do on a lake?
Personally I’ve only ever used this on rivers, but as long as you can stay close enough to the fish without spooking them then it should work there as well.

@@kept0n427 I hope it works well for you, it’s a super fun technique when the fish are turned onto bouncing Caddis!
I might try that with a balanced leach on the end...
Cool, just make sure your balanced leech isn’t too heavy to drag down your top fly 👍
Do you find that bouncing caddis always works better than fishing it regularly?
Not necessarily, all depends on what the trout are keying on. The good thing is that when they want it dead drifted you can do this with this same setup 👍
