      Thanks, I get a bit excited for a 40 year old 😁 And thanks for the comment, it’s a good reminder that I need to remember to keep it fun. Right now we are on a trip that we’ve had a couple of very slow days on the water… gotta find a way to stay positive even when it’s though out there. Thanks for helping me with that!

    Wow, how did you keep that drift for 15 seconds in that fast Water that’s impressive either that or you’re catching the outside edge of that pool where the soft water is and that would make sense but either way what heckuva cast! At the 5:28 mark.

    • @GilbertRowley
      @GilbertRowley  7 місяців тому +1

      @@troutman007 thanks, my buddy Nic did a great job with this presentation. A big part of it is getting your flies down near the bottom where the currents slow way down. That your slighter/indicator should usually be traveling quite slower than the surface currents visible on the water’s surface.

    I just discovered your channel learning to euro nymph. Great work. Looks like you are using Lamson reel. What size and model is that? How does that balance your T&T rod? In your opinion, is reel balance as important as it is made out to be?

    • @GilbertRowley
      @GilbertRowley  8 місяців тому

      Thanks, glad you like what we are doing! Reel balance is pretty important in my opinion for a few reasons. If you fish all day long it can be taxing on your forearm without even knowing it because you will be over compensating for hours to counteract the weight difference. Secondly, if the reel is too heavy and pulls your rod tip up in the air, at some point this will affect your drift without you noticing. Every action your rod tip makes, so do your flies with this technique.
      BUT... I am a a huge fan of using the gear that you have on hand until you feel the need to upgrade. If you have a reel on hand that you'd like to use but it doesn't quite balance correctly, I'd still use it.
      I fish a Lamson Litespeed F5 and it balances my T&T perfectly.
      Thanks!
