  • The Mead Art Museum is one of three Amherst College Museums who host summer internships for our students (alongside the Emily Dickinson Museum and the Beneski Museum of Natural History.) Our summer internships are geared toward rising sophomores and juniors, and designed to be a first meaningful, intensive experience for students exploring museum work. You do not need prior professional experience. All internships are project-based work.
As a participant of the Amherst Museums Internship program you will:
    - Gain an Increased understanding of the role museums play within their communities; and with that, the role of their community in institutional sustainability.
    - Develop transferable relational workplace skills such as (public speaking, research, writing for a public audience)
    - Explore a balance of exploratory and specialized assignments
    - Contribute to a community-engaged project in the museum
    - Attend professional development trainings and workshops
    - Meet and engage with other leaders in the field to broaden your network
In addition to your individual project, the internship experience includes professional development opportunities aligned with an entry level experience.
If you're interested in learning more about this opportunity, please reach out to Olivia Feal, Mead Art Museum Educator, at ofeal@amherst.edu.
