  • This painting was created with cold wax medium and oil paint on a wooden panel which was primed with the raw umber acrylic paint.
Cold Wax is an oil painting medium which is a buttery soft paste made of beeswax mixed with a small amount of solvent and resin.

beautiful. question for you. how well does the coldwax mix adhere to the canvas?

Hello . Thank you for watching. Cold wax adheres to canvas just like oil paint . You can use cold wax as is ( to create texture and glaze or paint with oils on top) if you can mix your oils with it . It also makes your oils dry faster . Happy painting!

@@zheliskoart thanks for the reply. but to what degree does it stick to a surface such as a damar glaze, or say acrylic, raw canvas etc. I think this would be a great instructional video. (though it might take some time to see the results) I can tell you that oil stick on a damar/oil mix tends to flake over time. there is some difference in drying speeds that causes this? I dont know...

Just like oil paint. Never had problems if it flaking off . You just need to be patient and let it cure for at least 3 months before varnishing. As it can be dry to the touch quickly but not fully cured . Application of varnish will give you another protection and archival factor to your painting
