I can’t believe it’s been 12 years since this debuted in front of The Lorax! Weta’s VFX and Brian Tyler’s arrangement of the 1997 fanfare have aged incredibly well! 😁🎞
I'm an aspiring scriptwriter, and whenever I get dejected or depressed about whatever I'm working on, I listen to this theme, and I'm reminded why I want to write in the first place. This track, I believe, is the perfect embodiment of cinema itself: wondrous, full of awe, and with the promise of uncountable adventures.
That's beautiful. And that's good that this song makes you feel better. Anytime that song plays I always think of Major Payne. One of my favorite movies. (My list of favorite movies is very short because I don't watch very many movies.)
Saw that one for the very first time in my hometown, host to one of Western Europe's biggest theaters that is also classed as a national heritage site in Paris : The Grand Rex. Don't miss that place if you ever come by the city. It still rings to me as if it was yesterday. Literally unforgettable moments. So true in fact that today, I recall the emotions I felt with the intro, and not even the movie that followed !
Watching this gave me the kind of goosebumps that the best movies made in the last 100 years have. Fantastic piece of work. I think it's the music that does it.
I can't think of anything else in the world that brings this much pomp & circumstance. That announces this much presence. That demands this much attention. Wow. And it's so fitting now that Comcast, supreme ruler of audiovisual media, owns them. Hats off to whoever designed/composed this.
Jerry Goldsmith was the one who initially composed the melody but was revamped by a man I believe by the name of Bryan Tyler for the centennial version, he added an array of drums and other instruments as well as choir.
There's nothing terribly wrong with the logo, you see. It just sometimes shows up inappropriately for certain movies on video and it's usually loud and obnoxious in those movies. It's appropriate for a big-budget theatrical release, but on something like The Tale of the Princess Kaguya it's deplorable.
I went and saw "The Bourne Legacy" with my Mom back in August; she hadn't seen this logo yet, so when the movie started, she said "Whoa, that's pretty cool." I had already seen it on "The Lorax" months earlier, but was still totally thrilled by it, even without this music playing over it.
Great to hear Jerry Goldsmith's excellent fanfare has been kept and received a good but subtle update by the acclaimed Brian Tyler. Bravo Universal for remembering Jerry Goldsmith's art.
great logo. I've always liked it. I'm so used to the old one (cause I don't watch movies much) but this one just looks so cinamatic and beautiful. They really have done a good job
Still one of my absolute favourite songs. Never gets old. EDIT: I just rewatched it a few times and just ONE of those times a cloud passed over my house right as the letters did in the video.
This is probably one of the only movie logos that the newest version is the best one. Often times people like the older logos because of nostalgia (e.g. Walt Disney Pictures, Paramount Pictures, 20th Century Fox). But this one, *It's perfect!*
Each time I see the Universal Pictures intro, I have a deep feeling. A mix of pride, dignity, sort of power not about me but about the entire humanity. It's so spectacular, all these continents scrolling and our dear planet rotating...I don't know how to express what I feel correctly
i love very much the logo of universal studio, its very big and beautiful logo. sound like very expensive company, only the rich people can make movies.
Never ever change the theme.
It is way too epic to change and choir makes it better.
And the snare drums at the end have just enough impact to give people goosebumps. 🤘
Oh I'm sure they could dial up the epicness to 11. They just don't want to do it too quickly or it will lose its appeal.
yeah except for minions/despicable me movies
@@GoldDinosaurYeah, well, too bad those movies suck.
I honestly prefer the predecessor of this theme but If they decide for It to stick i can't do anything can i lol
I always get huge chills when I see this logo in the theaters, epic and majestic
it’s so nostalgic too 🥲

I didn't learn until today that Jerry Goldsmith had scored the Universal Logo... a great piece by one of the greatest film score composers!
He did the original version in 1997, this update is by Brian Tyler, both majestic
He sadly died in 2004 😔.

It had to make it’s debut with the movie with the ShE’s A wOmAn joke
I hate this logo of Universal Pictures. It's James Horner Universal logo all right, not some dork.

A beautiful fusion of the classic and recent UNIVERSAL logos into one glorious homage to Universal. Absolutely stunning.

Andrew Cortesi but he doesn't top off the late James Horner.
