It's sorta bootstrappy in a way, that they were together because Jonas from the future went back and kissed her here.

It’s just as he wanted to keep that moment forever with him. By far one of my favourite scenes in the series. So subtle yet so powerful.
This is by far the most beautiful scene of the show. This kiss and his impact on Martha and Jonas couple is a genius idea. How many times have I been with a girl, hesitating about telling her my feelings, with the fear of being rejected. I always wondered what would have happened if I can go back in the past and just tell her. Jonas producing his own couple because he knows Martha love him in the future is a superb idea. His fear is gone. He don't hesitate. I need to do the same next time...

I think his mindset was actually to see her and express his feelings for one last time. Remember at that moment he was on way to avoid his father suicide and thus his existance... of course... this is dark lol...and so he ended really paving the way for his past self to get laid with the love of his life😂😂.
By Jonas doing this, he now knows how his timeline Marta actually felt about him, he just didn't know at the time

this line is subtly important. Jonas is starting to question the nature of time and build a resentment towards it. This is crucial, as 66 years later we know he is Adam whose goal is to destroy time at any cost.

This is, without a doubt, one of the best moments of the entire series. AND (spoiler alert) but to think that while the scene is happening, Katrina’s body is at the bottom of the lake since the 1980’s!!
This series, for me, is seriously the best show of all time. Even over Breaking Bad.
And at that time, Katharina’s also in a car with Ulrich and Mikkel on the way to God knows where- maybe to the hospital due to Mikkel has rubella (?)

the body of Katarina wasn't in the lake anymore since Magnus mention that the body of a woman was found in the past and (i hope) likely removed at that time.

I may need to rewatch the entire series for a fourth time to refresh myself, lol. Seems like every time I rewatch the series, you discover something new and amazing.
@@tommyclark2709 i watched the serie in french so maybe something changed during translation but if i recall it was a tale about a "woman who drowned in the lake" which imply that the corpse was found (albeit much later hence the wrong cause of death). Because for someone to start the rumor they should have either seen the murder or Katarina's mom dragging the body in the lake (doubtful since she was never arrested for this) or seen the body while swimming. In both case I assume (hope) they would have called the cops and the body would have been removed. In my opinion it became a rumor since the death of Katarina was so long ago and someone dying in mysterious circumstances is bound to create ghost stories. But I might be wrong !

I have been binge watching Dark on the weekend and just finished 2 seasons. I must say: this scene was the best and the most impressive one; not of Dark but among so many movies/shows I have ever seen. The cinematography, the music, camera angles + movements... it gave me goosebumps! A man, prepared to give up everything, is surrounded by a perfect day with the beauty of sun, trees, shadows, the lake and a very dear soul mate... a moment he would otherwise want to last forever. Yet, he is there to say goodbye to all of that beauty. And the music, oh God, whatever can not be told with words, was in the music! What a scene!
Just finished the season 3, and I can confidently say that they're one of the best couples in series I've ever watched, even though they're basically related lol you just can totally feel the innocence and sexual tension at the same time. Not many couples in movies/series have such chemistry like these two. What an unforgettable series :")

The scene when Jonas, Martha, Bartosz and Magnus enter the school in season 1 is taken in one shot as well. I think it's 5 or 6 minutes long and quite complex, all the way up the stairs, etc.

When you think about it, this is Martha's first kiss with Jonas... and then they hooked up that evening. Their love story was also self-fulfilling like so many other aspects of the show.

I don't know why, but when Martha is quietly and calmly reading a book by the lake, when Jonas comes, the fact that they have a metaphysically transcendent attraction between them and their gaze and silence, as if they have found the secret of the truth, awakens deep philosophical feelings in me. it seems as if there is an attraction beyond this world between them with the eyes that have solved all the divine mystery and make you feel the melancholy weight of all that transcendent knowledge on your face. I don't know how many times I watched this scene and why it made me feel this way.

This one was just giving me such a creepy feeling thinking back to this scene when Martha is in the lake and Bartosz and Magnus are teasing her about the dead woman in the lake.... FUCK they were swimming over their mother’s dead body and she finds the necklace later and holds it as a special token

In Italian they translate it a bit differently "Siamo fatti per stare insieme. Non credere mai che non sia così", that is "We were made to be together. Never think it's not like this."
This was a total boss move by Jonas. First he leaves, then he unexpectedly comes back, muses profoundly about time, then looks Marta right in the eyes and tells her they are a perfect match.
Would it work in real life? Who knows?

What really gets me is that they don't simply die, they just cease to exist, as if their love was never really there, disappearing and fading into nothingness, with no one to remember it or them, it's love for love's sake, and that is actually what human existence is really like. One day, hopefully a long time from now, human life won't exist any longer, and there will be no one to remember it, everything we do and are exists and ends with the human race. People remember people and that is how they keep existing, but one day there won't be anyone to remember us anymore, nor what we did and who we were. It will all just turn quiet forever.

The way her eyes widen ever-so-slightly when he tells her they're a perfect match is so subtle that I hadn't even noticed it until now, and I've watched this scene a bunch of times. Brilliant acting.

What if they instead traveled even futher back in the origin world, to live their lifes together, full of love, until they got old and saved the family of Tannhaus?
That would have been great actually, for them. But I believe there was a time crunch. They only have split seconds of time before the apocalypse in their worlds.
They can't because the opening of the tunnel that created the two worlds provides them with only split seconds for which time and the subsequent cycle of cause and effect has stopped. If they are not at the crossroads stopping the car of Tanhauss's son, they will have to recreate the cycle again....... but god damn your comment! I had the same feeling while watching the finale, I so wanted a life for them!

I think we all the same thought watching them stand on that road ..... I legit thought just stay here and be happy then i remembered they can't because they will have to go through all that madness again....then after they saved the family i was optimistic by thinking okay....they've done it now they can settle down here then I remembered by saving the family they prevented themselves from existing. When Jonas said the famous line as their parting words......ultimate feels. Amazing show....amazing love story.
Jonas and Marta interaction during the whole series was the most interesting and beautiful thing about it, that's why this one is the best scene in the entire series, it defines Jonas and Marta's relationship
*What always makes me so emotional about this scene is the look on his face at the end when Jonas leaves Martha. He takes a moment and looks at her as long as he can because he realizes that and believes this is the last moment he'll ever see her. He just wants to see her one last time.

@@blaubeer8039 nah I wouldn't really call it manipulative. In the first episode ( I believe it was first) martha mentioned to jonas "what happened between us in the summer, that wasn't just nothing was it?"
Jonas of course only had the moment they made out in her bedroom in memory, he didn't know what happened before that. Jonas approached martha on the beach because he knew this was the final time he would see "his" martha from his time ever again. It was his final goodbye.
Him walking away from martha and the camera shot from below with light shining past his head into the camera kinda symbolises that he's walking towards heaven, kinda like an angel.

In Season 3 where Jonas gets shot by Alt-Martha, you can see him lying on the floor in Eva's room, all the names from the flooring behind is back, forming wings and making him look like an angel :)
In the last episode, Marek (the son of tannhaus) mentioned he might have seen some angles (said by his girlfriend) “don't make fun of it” he said. All comes together now, does it? It was Jonas and Martha who made him think he might have seen some angles, because both of them died the same way, and especially Jonas, that created an angel like image from above, lying on the floor dying.
I know this was a lot to read, but I hope you understand the way I see this scene, this show is more than everything to me haha, it truly changed the way I see things, not just life as in philosophy but also the way I see god and everything around us. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!

I love the many moments in this show where I notice long uncut shots that come together so perfectly. Up until 2:15 this entire scene is just one shot. It happens in the beginning of episode 1 too, when the Nielsens are going around the kitchen getting ready for school
