Taking a Subscriber Patch Reef Fishing | Key Largo Catch N Cook

Today we get into some patch reef fishing off key largo. Dan who showed me where to find shrimp in Key Largo joins me this morning on the boat for some catch n cook fun.

In this video:
I am taking a subscriber patch reef fishing out of Tavernier Creek here in Key Largo. The goal is to catch some yellowtail snapper in 60-80ft of water. This is along the reef edge at the drop off.
We get out there, chum lots and wait for the fish to come. The sonar was marking tons of fish but it seemed they were just not interested in eating our baits. Cmon fish!
We move further north along the reef edge to another spot. Marking tons of fish again and we prepare to catch some fish. We catch some small yellowtail snapper. I caught a beautiful looking black grouper which was released. Dan had some big fish break him off several times. We will wonder for the rest of our lives what fish was doing that to us.
After some time we move into 20-30 feet of water and hook up on some nice mangrove snapper. These will be perfect for this catch n cook. Mangrove snapper is one of my favorite eating fish.
But what we really want to catch and cook is a mutton snapper. So after some time we move to 10-12 ft deep water. Chum like crazy and hoped for a mutton snapper to show up.
It was a great time fishing with Dan and he told me he will take me out on his boat as soon as the wind dies down so I am looking forward to that!
I get home and catch clean cook the mangrove snapper. Bread the fillets and cook them up in the pan. Add some vegetables and yum yum sauce and it's game on!
