I might be looking too much into this, but has Jack enlisted them in help before? Apparently he has gotten close enough to beat them black and green. So, if they have double-crossed Jack in previous missions, then why wouldn’t he ask another monster to do it? They WORSHIP him. You might argue that they look the most normal - which isn’t saying much - but they weren’t trying to hide. They even said trick-or-treat at the door, and made no attempt to trick him. They just dragged him to Oogie-Boogie out of sheer force. This may support the idea that everyone in the town loses their memory, and that is why it is so hard to place the vague feelings that he has. It even makes sense as to why the scientist that made Sally is tricked so easily; although it would make you wonder when Sally was made, and how many times she tricks the scientist in a year.
