I like your video. I just installed my barn doors and had similar issues with the door bolts hitting the trim and backboard I had to use due to not having a header. My kit did come with spacers, so I had to use them like you did. I'm positive the manufacture must be the same as mine, because everything about your kit appears identical to mine...right down to the warped door (well, just one of my double doors are warped). Tho parts of the video didn't go into great detail, this is an excellent tutorial. Looks awesome. I wish I had more people like you that pay attention to detail and finishes closer to me here in Calif. I'd hire you for sure. Woof.
My kit came with “robber dowels” aka little styrofoam rolls to place into the groove of the tall pillars to prevent the small panels from sliding around. Was debating on using them until I saw it in your video.

How do did you get the track to stay on the wall firmly when the bolts are not going into studs. It seem that the holes you drilled were through the sheetrock and not into studs.

What size drill bit did you use for the track?
Sides pieces are stiles. The connecting members are rails.
At the end when you needed the spacers, where did you put them?
I put them behind the track bar to allow for more clearance from the wall to the door so it wouldn’t rub on door trim. They were black plastic washers so the bolts went through them and the ones provided with the kit.
If you have a case opening, should you add molding or one by's to make the door a closer fit?
If you have a cased opening, that should mean you have trim installed all the way around the door like I do in this video. I’m not sure what you mean exactly by closer fit, and if you already have a cased opening, where would you add the trim?
@@rogueremodel2993 No I have no trim around the case opening.
@@dorianemurry9647 you can add trim, but be careful and measure the distance from the wall, to the bolts used to hang the rollers on the door. If your trim is thicker than this measurement, it will hit the trim. You’ll also want to add the 1x trim to the inside of the opening first, before you install the casings.
So I would add 1"-13/16" for the correct track height?
What is the width of your door opening including the trim?
26-1/2” inside of jamb, 31-1/2” outside of casings.
hey how did you find the studs
I built the wall and made sure I had a wood header for this type of door.

@@Spiritrich862 you can also install a piece of trim across the top of your door opening and screw it into the studs, and then install your barn door track.
People need to understand that these barn doors are really more decoration than functioning door. It's very frustrating to put one of these in for a customer and then they complain about gaps and flimbsiness. If you need privacy or security, get a real door.
