That Bill Nighy impression is freaking golden.
Since nobody’s corrected you for 7 years…. It’s “Bill NYE”
Careful Jeremy, don't give Micheal Bay any ideas about Gargoyles
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO........
Rachael Di
R.I.P.D or transformers 3
The took the balls out of it .The Graphic novel it was based on is way better but you cant sell that to puritanical america.Guns for everybody but a faithfull adaptation of a rather naughty graphic novel no thats just going too far
my guilty pleasure movie is the league of extraordinary gentlemen
yep
Same
Holy shit, that Bill Neigh impersonation had me laughing my ass off.
Wow, his Bill Nighy impression was oddly spot on, lol
Jeremy's Bill Nighy sounds like a cross between Alan Rickman and Bill Cosby.
Alien vs Predator is my top nostalgic guilty pleasure.
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is my guilty pleasure.
That movie is awesome 💪💪 That and Gemini man are my guilty pleasure movies
Mine too!!
Van Helsing is such a god guilty pleasure that isn't bad good, just good but not great.
Am i the only one who thought Constantine was a cool movie?
A guilty pleasure?
Peter Stormare was great as the devil.
Hell Yeah
Secularistic Man Best Devil I've ever seen!
It is a good movie, just slow
Holy crap on a stick- that Bill Nighy impersonation was spot on!
I don't know, Jeremy sounded a little like Tim Curry to me.
As much as I'd love to see a Gargoyles movie, don't wish too hard, Jeremy. You KNOW Michael Bay would end up directing or producing...
Sad truth lol
Im a Bill Nighy fan.. your impersonation was awesome :)
"Frankenstein was his dad"
Doesn't that mean he inherits the Surname "Frankenstein" though?
That's the same argument I use everything my friend and I end up discussing monster stories.
exactly, thank you.
They explained that in the movie
Oh My God!! Finally someone said it! I love the Gargoyles, it was an awesome show and so deserves a movie!! Glad to know there are others who think so too.
The impression of Bill Nighy was spot on. The one time he played a different kind of bad guy was when he was the voice of The Network in The World's End.
I swear Jeremy, you ought to be a voice actor, haha!
Forgive me Jeremy for i have sinned. My guilty pleasure is all the Twilight movies.
Lol
WWWHHHYYY? Those movies a awful pieces of shit
To hell with you. :)
My guilty pleasure is the first Ghost Rider. That's why I was looking forward to Ghost Rider 2. In the end I decided to rent it and not pay for a ticket and even I hated the second movie so much. David S Goyer really is one of the worst script writers ever. I doubt he had any good input in Batman Begins and The Dark Knight Rises. (He played next to no part in The Dark Knight and look how much that movie rocked.)
My guilty pleasure movie would be Constantine. But wait.. I'm not even "guilty" about it. I fucking love that movie!! Hell.. the part he pull out a piece of chewing gum at the end instead of smoking. Dammmmn, that man is my childhood hero.
I watched this and went "eh." Which is sad because these guys were behind Underworld, which is one of my favorite bad movies (I don't call them guilty pleasures because I feel no guilt about enjoying them).
My actual favorite is Van Helsing. Cool monsters, awesome action, hammy Dracula, and sweaty shirtless Hugh Jackman.
My guilty pleasure? The first 'Mortal Kombat' movie.
It is gold!
I'm with ya. I don't give a shit what people say about it. "Mortal Kombat" is an AWESOME guilty pleasure movie!
......"Annihilation" can just fucking die.
Omg. I could not agree with this anymore!
Gargoyles fighting sucked , the mistake was to make it a pg 13, no gore but many good hack and slash weapons , but the cast tried just that the story and cgi sucked
Guilty Pleasure Movies:
The Mummy ad The Mummy Returns
A Million Ways To Die In The West
Van Helsing
all the mummy movies the Star Wars prequels van Helsing
nice. I liked this movie.
Jeremy, I'm surprised you didn't mention that Yvonne Strahovsky is also Miranda from Mass Effect 2 and 3. In any event my guilty favorite guilty pleasure movie, or rather the movie that I feel most guilty for liking, is Anacondas: the Hunt for the Blood Orchid. I like it more than the almost as guilty original.
The very existence of this movie is offensive to me, because I liked the Frankenstein novel.
Eight crazy nights, also I know yvonne strahovski as not the girl from Dexter or Chuck, but as Miranda Lawson
Jeremy Jahns deserves an award for the Bill Nighy impersonation
Star Wars I, II, & III I guess. Even though still to this day, I just do not understand why everyone hates them so much. I grew up watching Star Wars (was born in late 90's btw), loved it, and had/have marathons watching all the films from I to VI frequently. I love all the movies equally tbh.
There are a lot of reasons why the prequels aren't as good as the original. For example, human connection. In the original trilogy, we had Han and Leia. For three movies, we saw their evolution as characters, and their growing warmth toward each other. In the prequels, we had Anakin and Padme, but instead of feeling that connection between them, we basically had to be told about them. In any case, the line "I love you" followed by the Han Solo-ish line "I know" speaks way more than "I truly... deeply... love you." It just seems so cliche'd, y'know?
Another reason is that the prequels really didn't give you any main character to connect with. Some might say Anakin, some might say Obi-Wan. In the original, you had Luke, who was easy to relate to, and you grew to love him. In the prequels, Anakin plays out as an annoying prick, and Obi-Wan is just this stoic monk, whose laugh doesn't seem real and he always just seems annoyed with Anakin, despite the fact that in the original, they were always portrayed as good friends.
Also, Jar Jar.
And there are a whole lot of reasons, but they can mainly be summed up by saying that a lot of people didn't feel the same connection with the prequels that they did in the originals. Star Wars was a fun adventure movie with cool space battles and lovable characters. The prequels were a "space opera" with an "epic scope" and that wasn't really what they needed to be. I'm not saying they're bad movies, they're enjoyable. But that's just why a lot of people don't like them; they failed to deliver what they needed to.
the PT sucks on every level a movie can suck on except it had excellent production values (some cgi looks dated, but overall it holds up pretty well) and arguably the score (which i thought was background music for the most part save for a couple of recognizable tunes that *weren't* ripped-off from the OT).
if someone enjoys them, it has to be on a guilty pleasure level, else they're just a moron or really young, which is about the same thing.... two things i need not do: 1) ask a ten year old about their political opinion and, B) ask a PT-lover to critique any decent movie... or movie in general....
ryan barker So I guess it's wrong to have a personal opinion of something now? Smh...
watch the plinkett reviews and then tell us how you feel bout those films :D
of course it's not wrong to have a personal opinion, but at least make it an *informed* opinion based on facts, research and logic, not just a, 'i liked it!' statement. like the PT on a guilty pleasure level, but to call them 'good' just flies in the face of all that is cinematically, historically, logically, dramatically and common sensically right and holy, lol.
as mentioned, watch the plinkett reviews. you can find them under 'red letter media,' the production company responsible for making them. they're friggin' hilarious, although definitely bring your broadest sense of humour as some of the jokes are, shall we say, not exactly spiced right for everyone's cup of tea.
I met Bill Nightly at an airport in London once. No joke.
rencrow They built a shed and lived there for a few months
+rencrow I said that I recognized him from an episode of Doctor Who, where the Doctor goes back in time and meets Vincent Van Gogh. I can't remember out conversation though it was that long ago.
My guilty pleasure: Mortal Kombat
Best videogame movie.
RosyTheRascal15 Same here but I love Mortal Kombat X because the Fatalitys.
RosyTheRascal15 Same here but I love Mortal Kombat X because the Fatalitys.
0:33
when the three posters are lined up it looks like they say "goofy, immortal, evil."
Great job on the people who made the one with the gargoyle, nobody bothered to check to make sure the extra particles didn't make the D look like an F and a Y?
Even the posters are sloppy.
Well if its a little like Van Helsing I'd probably like it. I like Van Helsing. Didn't know it had a bed rep until I got older but its one of those things I unironically enjoy. Maybe this movie will join it. Though I am in no rush to see it.
You got a thumbs up because of your Elsa avatar...good work sir.
Tim Macone Lol. Why thank you :)
Don't be so sure about a Gargoyles movie. Avatar The Last Airbender was also a stunning and we'll-written cartoon, and we saw how that movie turned out . . .
Good news my friends! There is going to be a Gargoyles movie! Michael bay is going to be the director, M. Night Shamalan and James Wong will be producers
lol M. Night SHAME-alon. What does it take to be a director, a 3 day certification course?
OMG lol
The entire Gargoyles story was concluded in the comic pretty much. I would LOVE to see a live action film of the source material, though.
Dont compare this shit to Van Hellsing, that movies was fucking gold. Wolverine turning into the best version of a werewolf in any hollywood movie and fucking up dracula himself. And of course kate beckinsale.
I see it as a guilty pleasure! I saw it in theatres 7 times. lol
I liked the werewolf the most! It was soooo awesome!! XD
TheVioletfox01
7 times...Holy Moly
Pazzo MC Yeah. I was still in middle school, but I know... Wow. xP
of course wow...last year I saw Man Of Steel 3 times but the third time I actully fell sleep xD i woke up during the finale battle xDDD
I can't get enough of your Bill Nighy impression. XD
Also, I loved the Gargoyles animated series. One of the best, most well-written cartoon shows EVER!!
And I also loved the Street Fighter movie with JCVD!!
Now that you mention it, a Chuck review sounds pretty nice, one of the few shows other than Firefly I would definitely help in a backscatter project
My main guilty pleasure can be summed up in six simple words. Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers The Movie.
fuck power rangers ! they suck !
Dick Grayson A person who goes by the screenname Dick, acting like a dick. How hilariously appropriate.
Yes, I'm quite aware that Power Rangers isn't Oscar-winning material, hence why its a GUILTY PLEASURE. Besides, I have no doubt there is something you would deem a guilty pleasure - or perhaps otherwise openly enjoy - that I would not. However, that doesn't mean I would express my dislike as crudely as you've just done.
Take, for example, the reality TV series Big Brother. I have a bucketload of friends who openly enjoy it. I, on the other hand, view it as a waste of airtime. Even so, I don't mock them for liking it, or tell them that the show is shit. If they enjoy it, so be it.
John Carter- solely for the scene when he takes on a whole army himself.
Ghost Rider was my guilty pleasure movie cause I've always had a soft spot for Nick Cage who seems to be the best actor at acting generally crazy in a way that's also funny. The fact alone they paired him with Sam Elliot, of all people for the film was also pretty epic. Even the reboot with Nick Cage was at least a fair representation of the comics. I know people tore the movie apart in reviews, and that it's far from great, but it entertained me in the end, and that's kinda what movies are for. I'll never forget seeing Rebel Wilson cameo in that film either.
Or Eva Mendes whose younger self in the movie was in all fairness believable.
My guilty pleasure movie is actually movies. I have multiple. They are X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Green Lantern, Alien vs. Predator, Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie: Pyramid of Light, Pokémon: The First Movie - Mewtwo Strikes Back, the High School Musical movies and 17 Again
Mewtwo Strikes back isn't a guilty pleasure movie, it's awesome!
dat Bill Nigh impression tho!!!
In the original novel, his father named him Adam, everyone else called him "the Monster" or "Frankenstein's Monster".
Hey! I like Constantine!
***** And as you know, Jeremy is always right, so our opinions are wrong.
Seriously though, its fine :p
***** Also, youre one handsome man.
Transformers 1 and 4 are my guiltiest plsasures in film. A close second and third in order is GI Joe Retaliation and Predator 2.
I liked this movie, its kind of a mix between Underworld and Van Helsing,Underworld part being a war between two types of creatures that has been going on for hundreds of years that humans don`t know about, not to mention Bill Nighty and the guy who plays Raze in Underworld is in it. As for it being like Van Helsing Bill Nightys character is trying to use Frankensteins monster to give life to corpses so demons can posses them just like in Van Helsing where Dracula wants the Frankentstein monster to give life to his children.
the transfermers movies are my guilty pleasures
The Underworld series, The Friday the 13th series (I even did a vid where I put them in order from my least favorite to my favorite) the first Transformers movie, and Rob Zombie's Halloween movies.
Why's underworld guilty?
+Agencyagent33 because it's a blatant rip off of the matrix.
"Yeaahh Now itz ah pardie" love it when he says that!!!
She's Miranda from Mass Effect COME ON JEREMY!!
The chick from Chuck and Dexter was also in Mass Effect 2.
Who did she play?
Sam Tepe Miranda Lawson main female in the game.
Yvonne Strahovski should have played Black Widow in the Marvel movies.
She at least knows how to throw a punch. And speak an eastern european language. And is hot. And can act.
Doom is probably one of my favorite guilty pleasure movies. Right up there with Constantine and the Underworld series. It was just loads of fun and had two of my favorite fun movie actors in it (Karl Urban and Dwayne Johnson).
I don't think its the worst sin to call the monster Frankenstein.
For example, as it is a creation of Doctor Frankenstein then it is like the monster is his son. And Frankenstein is the doctor's surname. Sons take the surnames of their father.
I mean as long as they don't call the monster Doctor Victor Frankenstein.
Make it so.
He's not Victor's son though...
***** Not in the traditional sense. But as his creation... what surname should this being take other than the surname of his progenitor?
Treblaine
If I genetically engineer a mouse that is an entire new species and self aware, does it get my last name? Am I it's mother?
***** Not necessarily (really, mother is just female parent, are you female?). Look, all the pets in my family got a first name and their surname was our family name. Whe other surname would they have? The beings they came from didn't have names, or not any we knew. Same with "the creature" of Frankenstein.
The Last Airbender. I can't get enough of that piece of shit. Every time I see it it finds a new way to crack me up with its sheer shittiness.
Fantastic Four : Rise of the Silver Surfer is my guilty pleasure movie
Good Bill Nighy impression.
Guilty pleasure? Chronicles of Riddick.
Yeah, but that was MADE to be a guilty pleasure movie. Vin Diesel based Riddick off his D&D character for fuck's sake!
This.
Well guilty pleasure film is somewhat subjective. Like some may call Howard the Duck one, but I own it and love it. Going off Jeremy's example the only movie I can quote nearly the whole film is Spaceballs. But if were going for more of an embarrassment thing like "Why do you own that" kinda thing, I do have the Mario Bros movie on DVD. I get a lot of grief from people when they see it in my film library.
GARGOYLES....yes! I haven't watched that show in forever, what ARE people doing not turning that into a movie like TMNT?
Review Chuck please!
Jeremy should review Gargoyles
I just started watching it for the first time and it's badass
Great review Jeremy I enjoyed this movie. I would give it a C+ My Favorite Guilty Pleasure movie is Poseidon.
my guilty pleasure movies; scooby doo 1 & 2 and the mighty morphin power rangers movie
I have so many guilty pleasure movies: Equilibrium, Constantine, Ghost Rider, Chronicles of Riddick, The Mortal Kombat movies (yes both of them) and the 3 Ninjas movies, the High School Musical movies, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (I know, I hate myself for that one). My biggest ones though are the Mummy movies, all three of them; I don't know why but I just love them.
We are defenders of the night. We are GARGOYLES !!!
I'd say that...Ghost Rider is a guilty pleasure
The first one is actually good in my opinion but the second one is terrible tho
I can't believe I haven't seen this guilty pleasure movie in the comment section, but mine will and always will be "Space Jam." Loved it as a kid and still love it to this day.
1:25 Hahaha Jeremy's impression is hilarious
Holy shit, that Bill Nighy impression was IMPECCABLE.
My guilty pleasure movie. Dungeons and Dragons. "I can use every ounce of your rage! Ahthththth!"
ironically Constantine is my guilty pleasure movie
Pacific Rim is my guilty pleasure. Action , robot, monster, epic fight scene, Idris Elba, Hunnam, Rinko are amazing but cliche and plothole .... Oh God. Also Speed Racer, the movie will tear your eyes apart , cheesiness will kick you in your groin but cast, overall plot and ending are amazing
I think Pacific Rim is too well made to be a real guilty pleasure.
But I know what you mean. I was watching the entire movie like: "and now this is going to happen, yep, oh this is so stupid, but I'm enjoying it so much!".
I quite agree, a Gargoyles movie, or even a series with the technology they have these days is a must!
I loved Abraham Lincoln Vampire hunter.....will i enjoy this movie?
yeah, where is our Gargoyles movie?
I like *Constantine*. Does it count as a "guilty pleasure"? I don't know how critics feel about it, but since I'm one of the few people I know who loves the movie, I guess it counts.
I loved Constantine (in the film) as a character, I loved the demons, the special effects were neat..and of course Rachel Weisz. She should be in every film.
The Resident Evil movies are my guilty pleasure.
My guilty pleasure movie is of course the cinematic masterpiece that is "The Room".
Dont worry about it.
Ultraviolet is my guilty pleasure. Come on. Milla Jovovich is pretty cute. And the film has some amazing sequences (even though it isn't a great movie I admit). I love how her character transforms as a person and seeing her go from a ultra tough heroine to after the climax a person who has lost all hope strikes a heart chord with me every time.
My guilty pleasures is Ang Lee‘s Hulk (2003).
A Knight's Tale.
I will watch the SHIT out of A Knight's Tale every time it comes on.
The way he said the title at the beginning...
''AI FREANKENSTIIIIN!''
honesty i have a soft spot for 1998 Godzilla :/ not proud of it but there it is
review ' Sherlock Series 3' !!!!
Little Nicky,R.I.P.D,Lone ranger, Van Helsing, Street Fighter,Super Mario Bros,Batman Forever,Ghosts of Mars,Rocky 5 (The others were awesome and better),Cobra and The A Team
Dungeons and Dragons
Mostly Jeremy Irons dialogues
"Why do people call him Frankenstein? It's not even his name in the movie. Frankenstein was his dad."
My dad was called `Mr Leonard' by his accounting/economics students, now that I'm a grown up, and a music teacher, that is now what people call me. Dr. Victor Frankenstein is the monster's dad (the monster gets called heaps of things in the book - fiend, creature etc - and calls himself `the Adam of your creation' but isn't specifically named), so what else is his surname going to be but also `Frankenstein'?
Red Sonya was by far my favorite movie growing up, and I still love so, so much :) Second place is Mortal combat. And I ain't apologising for either one of those two, even though I know how terribly cheesy they both are =D
Avatar is my guilty pleasure movie.
Space Pocahontas, I know, but I just can't help liking it.
I don't know why.
Sherlock season 3 review?
I liked this movie, especially as it is based in the same universe as Underworld. There are talks of doing a crossover between Underworld and I.Frankenstein as Kate Beckinsale was meant to be a cameo as Salene.
Mine is daredevil......there, I said it.
REVIEW "HER"
2:18 seeing him looking like this made me realize, the title was probably meant to be read as "iFrankensstein" as this is clearly Apple's take on a Frankenstein monster for how this creature still appears conventionally good looking (minus the scars).
where the hell is the Sherlock review ?? i'm going crazy ;;
Starship Troopers, even though I'm a fan of the book, I can't help but enjoy the movie, even if it does butcher the book.
I'm pretty sure the butchering was intentional. I heard that the book's author was really right-wing, and he wrote it seriously. Then the (liberal) director comes along and decides to use the book to parody everything the book stood for. If that is true, then I think it did it pretty damn well.
Heinlein might be conservative by today's standards, but back when he wrote the book he would hardly be classified as such. The book mainly focused on military life and the relationship between the enlisted and officers. It shows off some of the absurdities of fascism while calling into question some of the pit falls of democracies. Together with all the normal Sci-Fi tropes you'd expect from that age it's really hard to call it a conservative piece of literature.
I actually like the first part that tells the story of Dr Frankenstein and his monster, the Frankenstein design and how in the end he accepts that in a way, Frankenstein is his father and takes his last name.
They should do a soft reboot of this but only the origin and story of the Doctor and his monster. Because (it’s just my opinion) I consider that the best part of the movie.
For funzies, you should review Street Fighter.
I own every Godzilla movie made. I guess some would consider those guilty pleasures. Can't wait for the new one this year.
I know what you mean, dude. Can't wait for that movie.
Nnneeeeerd
Barry Lane Douchebaaaaagg lol
Even the 1998 one? Or that one doesn't count? Lol
Yep, even that one.
