During the ending, the age of Blue Team is lore accurate, being mid teens, around the same age as the cadets. Also, i love the detail when Sullivan asks Kelly how old they are, she and Fred look at each other almost unsure how to answer, then quickly and coldly reply "That's classified." Unlike the cadets, the Spartan IIs were trained from the age of 6 in the art of war, so it's expected to have this cold, emotionless look. One final thing, Chief keeping his helmet on being a nice nod to the lore, where Chief preferred keeping his helmet on since he felt safe within it, and was not comfortable having it off around other (except Halsey or Blue Team)
This, right here, is a good example of a video game movie. Showing the Halo universe from the perspective of someone relatively underpowered and seeing their reaction to not only the Covenant but also one of the first open deployments of the Spartans was a good idea. It's a little disappointing that Fred isn't actually mentioned by name, tho. No love for my boi

@@User--fh9fs Yeah this mini series is really good, even if you aint a Halo fan, good character build, which slowly builds up Lasky to who he is, and i love the visual look of the spartans in this one, how they really look like they are genemodified, without blemishes enhanced eyes etc, the master chief in the new Halo show looks like hes a couch potato from home.
A big part of Halo are the feelings and the atmosphere. This move nailed it 10/10. Especially the ending scene where they took of their helmets. Those eyes.. nothing but duty..

1:18:00 - I absolutely love this scene. The way that they've gone through this is amazing. You have this 20-minute segment of Master Chief kicking ass as usual, but then after they've been separated from the battlefield, when they're finally safe, then this hits. The way that the other Spartans are introduced, they look, feel, sound and act like seasoned veterans. You even have this shot of the three that makes them feel so composed even after they just evacuated from an invasion. It pans over to the cadets, who are all dirty, tired, still trying to come to terms with being the only survivors of a facility of thousands. Then it cuts to Kelly(087) taking off her helmet, and we see Drenski's face almost blank out in some sort of semblance of shock. It cuts to Sullivan, then back to Drenski as her full attention is pulled to the face under the helmet, and then we see Kelly's face ourselves. We realise why Drenski looks so shocked. Kelly looks young, as young as the cadets, and her eyes are a weird colour, and she's already got scars all over her face, one on her forehead, one next to her left eye, one on her nose. It cuts to Sullivan looking over at Fred(104) as he's taking off his helmet and seeing a similar thing. Young face, strange eyes, battle scars all over his face. They look almost alien, how pale their skin is as well. After seeing the other two Spartans faces, the cadets have to re-evaluate what Master Chief may look like under the helmet. Kelly and Fred look over at him, Lasky looks at him, but all Master Chief does is raise his rifle to his helmet and keep his attention outside of the Pelican. The awkwardness in the Pelican is palpable. Sullivan asks how old all of them are, but at being told that it's classified, he bows his head and goes quiet almost in embarrassment, being reminded that they're still in a different league, and maybe just getting an idea of how young they are to have to keep their age classified. Drenski takes off her helmet and looks Kelly straight in the eye, and that small nod of silent acknowledgement Kelly gives visibly awes Drenski. And finally, you can feel the weight of Lasky quietly being given a piece of the Hunters armour from Master Chief. You can tell that that's something that he's going to treasure, and backed up by Master Chief's simple "Well done, soldier." is something that Lasky will carry to his grave. That scene is basically the only scene in the entire movie of other Spartans, of Spartans TOGETHER in fact, and they do it so well. We're shown in this scene how inhuman they look compared to "regular" humans, how much of an honour it feels to have one of them even show their face, and how silent and awkward Master Chief feels around others. He could have joined in with Kelly and Fred, took off his helmet as well, but he doesn't, because he feels naked without the mask to hide his face and true feelings around the cadets, around people outside of his squad. But at the same time, he knows what he can do to motivate officers. True to his silent nature, he says a few simple words and a moment, but it works, and you can see that the people who meet him are changed.

The image of Him in the Minds of the humanity has reached beyond even spiritual in some way..."If He Were Here Then Everything Will change"
Instead of they're young in looking, that could be because they are more advanced human species way ahead and also they could be 300 years old or more.
On first viewing I thought the objects falling through the glass at 51:45 were just debris from the collapsing space elevator. But if you listen closely you can hear the sound of screams getting louder before being cut off by impacts, and at 51:50 you can see for a split-second multiple flailing bodies, which means the 'debris' was actually the occupants of the space elevator falling to their deaths (which includes Lasky's squadmate Dimah). Spooky as hell...
Propably the worst death on this day. They fell for 30 seconds, and the last things they saw were big unknown ships, green and pruple glowing weaponsfire and the planet aflame.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the scene where the odsts drop and everyone knows immediately that shit just hit the fan, cause odsts are called helljumpers for a reason. If they drop within eyesight of you, you know you're in hell or about to be.
That's the thing I also find dooming about supersoldiers in battlefield scenarios. Whether it be Astartes or Spartans, the fact the situation is already a loss cause but is too vital to lose. That, or you're being deployed at the tip of the spear where fatalities are at their highest percentage. You're comfort in that scenario is that you're going to probably die in a blaze of glory.
But also that de ODST jumped all together in a bunch. Usually they drop a squad per zone but they fell together and if you think about it that’s worse. Either they were already so far behind enemy lines that they drop as many ODST’s as possible or the battle in orbit was so severe that they dropped all the ODST’s at once to abandon ship
The character build up is great in this movie, we get to know them, and see who they are, you get to feel for them in a good way, and when they die it hits you hard, you did not expect that but its great, this is what movies should do.

I have to look at this movie again to restore my faith in people who can make a good halo movie. The Spartans look good and with the helmet off they look like kids who have been augmented and put through the most stressful training at such a young age, they look emotionless inside because that's how they are supposed to be. The combat in this was well done, Chief had minimal talks and movements when out of combat which is very much like character. And the acting was brilliant. everything in this movie was a great portrayal of a live action halo movie. The upcoming show isn't looking too promising.

Everything about this is leaps and bounds above the paramount tv series absolutely incredible imagine how good this could of been with more funding and making a large tv series with multiple episodes and seasons, it will literally never come true I’ve been hoping for years they do something that completely respects the lore, it would blow peoples minds if they did and I bet it would be one of the biggest series of all the time, the fans would spread the word and you would get a massive audience if done correctly.

Even the words "Spartan" and "Axios" (Greek words) gives me the chills as they are connected through history to bravery, sacrifice, highest level of military training and worthy of honor!
Watching the TV show and then rewatching this … just puts the TV show to shame, that’s how Chief should be and even though we only saw the other Spartans briefly they still looked amazing

Does anyone get the chills with final scene as I do? I think its the best scene from whole movie. Lasky is so grateful, inspired and devoted to masterchief, he saved his life and encouraged everyone to keep fighting. He does not hesitate to run and help the man who saved him. He's got a debt to pay, and he will do anything on his hands to pay it. Imagine this: -Captain Lasky: Call everyone for a criostasis warning, we are jumping into hyperspace, there is no time to waste, we got a call for help, it's masterchief, he needs me, he needs us, it's time to help, to give something back to him no matter what.
Watched this when it first came out then had to come back after the crap new halo episode 1. How can people with half the budget get it so right. This is how it is done.
Why couldn't the new TV series be like this. This movie didn't have the highest budget, but it feels more real and more grounded in the halo universe than the new show. The spartan actors in this are so much better cast. And Chief: calm, cool, collected. He feels in control. Gentle, but dangerous. This is how the Master Chief should be. Just like the books, or the games. They should have got the directors and producers from this show back for the new series. We could have had something incredible.
The fact that they were trying harder to break the chamber where their weapons were locked by hitting it with metal rod but master chief's single punch broke it open proves how much capable Spartans really are .
When you aren't in the perspective of an almighty spartan elites are so much more scary. Btw I saw a ton of zealot elites, and canonically they are deployed to recover forerunner artifacts, I think that explains why they would attack a random unsc training base

I fucking love Halo. Halo CE is undoubtedly one of the greatest games of all time. I still play it today almost 20 years later. I thought this netfilm/series was great considering the budget. The bit at the end when Fred and Kelly take there helmets off and you see how young they are, there pale skin and greyish eyes and they turn to chief in unison along with the somber music makes me tear up. I love it. It’s quite well done imo. Really hope this new Halo live action HBO series is top notch. Got high hopes for Pablo Schreiber as Chief. I thought he was great in Den of Theives. Can’t wait.

This piece of media blows the Paramount show out of the water. Even with some of the more flimsy concepts the second half when the covenant attack is sublime filmography and top Halo visuals. Also at this point it felt like 343 had a vision for Halo and even though 4 had some troublesome elements it was alright. 5 and Infinite are in a weird rut because 343 can't plan apparently.
Infinite feels more on track Aesthetically, but its basically dead in the water with no development and personally I feel a lack of more hard-line military elements.

Elites are stronger then odst by a large margin who are humanity's best soldiers so yeah they are monsters. The only people who are capable of 1v1 with the elites and win are Spartans who are kind of a monster in themselves.

We play as Chief sometimes forget how scary the Covenant are, it's refreshing to see, like in Halo 3 ODST, just how frightening these monsters are to the regular human we tend to forget.
That's my gripe with Halo 3 ODST: I never feel that. I have no shields, yet I am taking on bog squads of brute-lead squads of covenant, taking down hunters without a power armor. You are just way too powerful considering you are a human in composite-titanium armor and a fancy helmet. The covenant feel like a joke because of how well you can handle them.
@@AbuHajarAlBugatti I play on Heroic. Legendary I only touch in split-screen. But that's what I mean: for an ODST, the most realistic difficutly should be legendary with lower HP. That's how powerful the covenant weapons are without any shields.
@@BleedingSnow I play on PC. Heroic with controller would probably be a mind fuck for me. But with mouse aiming, it is too easy. But that is also the issue of Halo 3. Halo 3 on PC is waaay too easy on Heroic. Especially if you just continued from Halo 2. Halo 2 Heroic is perfect. Halo Reach Heroic is great except for how the maps are designed and throws you in these weird arena situations where enemies shoot you from all directions.
Kinda weird eh? People kinda disliked this when it came out, like it was liked but it wasn't like "this is the best" or "this is a very good". It was like a "meh" to most. Then the Halo TV show came out and NOW people are coming back to this and actually saying "ya know.. this was actually good, not the best in acting and all but it stayed faithful to the franchise and tried to make a compelling story during the early years of the war." It's getting the Star Wars treatment; people hated the Prequels but since the Sequels came out, people actually began to love and appreciate the Prequels.
Just watching this movie while working out. Is kinda motivational. Still spectacular after many years, the love they show to the source material and then to us by making this movie, make it more special. I love it.
Well I’ve be never seen this until now. Came here since the series wasn’t living Up to expectations and honestly I’m so impressed with this. I actually love the idea that chief isn’t the main character here and he cuts in and out. Almost having that Darth Vader presence. When he’s on screen you feel safe and when he’s not you feel alone. Fingers crossed halo paramount season 2 can get this vibe.
Lets say the covenant in this movie is not dumb because they attack when it's nightime and because its nightime the planet didnt have time to rescue civilians or even organize their forces to fight the threat.
Well usually covenant wouldn't even deploy ground troops if there are not some high value targets like info on most important human planets and sttlments or if there are not forerunner artifacts. They usually just come to the planet with hundred of sheeps then start bombing and glassing everything

Also explains why in the end we only see a few ships glassing. I guess they only glas where they already searched.

That moment when a flashback for the beginning of the worst decline in Halo franchise history (Halo 4) is better than literally anything else put out since said beginning.
It is ironic that the story for the video game was so bad by comparison. Then again, this is because this was about the main war we care about. This is the same reason star wars sequels on a larger scale didn't work, because there was no point; Anakin's story was over and gone was the empire. The following sequels just did the same all over again. And that's what happened with Halo 4. First of all I personally think Halo 3 should have ended with chief being MIA, no scene of him after the memorial. But now in Halo 4, after ending the war with the covenant, who is your first enemy? The covenant! Just like the new order was just a substitute empire. And the new enemy was weak af too. The entire Halo 4 and forward destroys the entire point of og trilogy.

@@furiousfinch1587 The weird part about that is the Elites. I expect Jackals and Brutes to go rogue and start scavenging and terrorizing. And grunts are generally quite submissive so they would be there too. But the Elites are a race with strict codex, rules and honor. If they have said that they are pulling out, they would. If this was immediately after halo 3, then sure, having some remnants would make sense. But this is over 4 years later. Now in hindsight, it feels odd that humanity would put so much resources into building infinity and her sister ship after this 30 year long war. The resources to build infinity should not even exist after it all. Just imagine if humans and elites would have made an alliance instead, and when the didact attacked, then there would have been a joint force to protect both Sanghili and Earth.

Here again to watch it after an year. This is how a Halo show/movie should be made. Not just representing Spartans but also ODSTs. The feelings, the atmosphere, the tension of the unknown are so beautifully captured! Halo 4 was ok not great but then 343 went downhill... 343 was given a golden cup and they filled it with shit. They never had a vision for Halo & where to take it. They literally forgot what makes Halo Halo.
It was going well for the first 10 minutes, combat was cool, seeing kids get obliterated by plasma weapons is always fun. But holy hell after that it just got worse. I’ll take this amazing movie over the tv series any day. Also 1:05:29 is just one of the many badass scenes that put the entire halo tv show to shame.

During the ending, the age of Blue Team is lore accurate, being mid teens, around the same age as the cadets.
Also, i love the detail when Sullivan asks Kelly how old they are, she and Fred look at each other almost unsure how to answer, then quickly and coldly reply "That's classified."
Unlike the cadets, the Spartan IIs were trained from the age of 6 in the art of war, so it's expected to have this cold, emotionless look.
One final thing, Chief keeping his helmet on being a nice nod to the lore, where Chief preferred keeping his helmet on since he felt safe within it, and was not comfortable having it off around other (except Halsey or Blue Team)
This, right here, is a good example of a video game movie. Showing the Halo universe from the perspective of someone relatively underpowered and seeing their reaction to not only the Covenant but also one of the first open deployments of the Spartans was a good idea.
It's a little disappointing that Fred isn't actually mentioned by name, tho. No love for my boi

1:18:00 - I absolutely love this scene. The way that they've gone through this is amazing. You have this 20-minute segment of Master Chief kicking ass as usual, but then after they've been separated from the battlefield, when they're finally safe, then this hits.
The way that the other Spartans are introduced, they look, feel, sound and act like seasoned veterans. You even have this shot of the three that makes them feel so composed even after they just evacuated from an invasion. It pans over to the cadets, who are all dirty, tired, still trying to come to terms with being the only survivors of a facility of thousands.
Then it cuts to Kelly(087) taking off her helmet, and we see Drenski's face almost blank out in some sort of semblance of shock. It cuts to Sullivan, then back to Drenski as her full attention is pulled to the face under the helmet, and then we see Kelly's face ourselves. We realise why Drenski looks so shocked. Kelly looks young, as young as the cadets, and her eyes are a weird colour, and she's already got scars all over her face, one on her forehead, one next to her left eye, one on her nose. It cuts to Sullivan looking over at Fred(104) as he's taking off his helmet and seeing a similar thing. Young face, strange eyes, battle scars all over his face. They look almost alien, how pale their skin is as well.
After seeing the other two Spartans faces, the cadets have to re-evaluate what Master Chief may look like under the helmet. Kelly and Fred look over at him, Lasky looks at him, but all Master Chief does is raise his rifle to his helmet and keep his attention outside of the Pelican. The awkwardness in the Pelican is palpable.
Sullivan asks how old all of them are, but at being told that it's classified, he bows his head and goes quiet almost in embarrassment, being reminded that they're still in a different league, and maybe just getting an idea of how young they are to have to keep their age classified. Drenski takes off her helmet and looks Kelly straight in the eye, and that small nod of silent acknowledgement Kelly gives visibly awes Drenski.
And finally, you can feel the weight of Lasky quietly being given a piece of the Hunters armour from Master Chief. You can tell that that's something that he's going to treasure, and backed up by Master Chief's simple "Well done, soldier." is something that Lasky will carry to his grave.
That scene is basically the only scene in the entire movie of other Spartans, of Spartans TOGETHER in fact, and they do it so well. We're shown in this scene how inhuman they look compared to "regular" humans, how much of an honour it feels to have one of them even show their face, and how silent and awkward Master Chief feels around others. He could have joined in with Kelly and Fred, took off his helmet as well, but he doesn't, because he feels naked without the mask to hide his face and true feelings around the cadets, around people outside of his squad. But at the same time, he knows what he can do to motivate officers. True to his silent nature, he says a few simple words and a moment, but it works, and you can see that the people who meet him are changed.

Compare to rest of the Blue Team and is no wonder why he earned more than just a Masterchief/Legendary soldier/Hero in the Heart of its Kind but also a Way More Terrifying Opponent in the Eyes of Enemy. The image of Him in the Minds of the humanity has reached beyond even spiritual in some way..."If He Were Here Then Everything Will change"
Speaking of age. Master Chief is only 15 here.
Instead of they're young in looking, that could be because they are more advanced human species way ahead and also they could be 300 years old or more.
I like that in the shot with older Lasky, he has worn the hunter armour fragment smooth by constantly handling it.

On first viewing I thought the objects falling through the glass at 51:45 were just debris from the collapsing space elevator. But if you listen closely you can hear the sound of screams getting louder before being cut off by impacts, and at 51:50 you can see for a split-second multiple flailing bodies, which means the 'debris' was actually the occupants of the space elevator falling to their deaths (which includes Lasky's squadmate Dimah). Spooky as hell...
Propably the worst death on this day. They fell for 30 seconds, and the last things they saw were big unknown ships, green and pruple glowing weaponsfire and the planet aflame.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the scene where the odsts drop and everyone knows immediately that shit just hit the fan, cause odsts are called helljumpers for a reason. If they drop within eyesight of you, you know you're in hell or about to be.
That's the thing I also find dooming about supersoldiers in battlefield scenarios. Whether it be Astartes or Spartans, the fact the situation is already a loss cause but is too vital to lose. That, or you're being deployed at the tip of the spear where fatalities are at their highest percentage.
You're comfort in that scenario is that you're going to probably die in a blaze of glory.
But also that de ODST jumped all together in a bunch. Usually they drop a squad per zone but they fell together and if you think about it that’s worse.
Either they were already so far behind enemy lines that they drop as many ODST’s as possible or the battle in orbit was so severe that they dropped all the ODST’s at once to abandon ship
They did the right thing making it about cadets. It feels relatable and realistic
I think the best and safest route to adapt a game like Halo is to make it a spin-off. I heard so many people are upset about the new Halo tv series.
The character build up is great in this movie, we get to know them, and see who they are, you get to feel for them in a good way, and when they die it hits you hard, you did not expect that but its great, this is what movies should do.

I have to look at this movie again to restore my faith in people who can make a good halo movie. The Spartans look good and with the helmet off they look like kids who have been augmented and put through the most stressful training at such a young age, they look emotionless inside because that's how they are supposed to be. The combat in this was well done, Chief had minimal talks and movements when out of combat which is very much like character. And the acting was brilliant. everything in this movie was a great portrayal of a live action halo movie.

Does anyone get the chills with final scene as I do? I think its the best scene from whole movie. Lasky is so grateful, inspired and devoted to masterchief, he saved his life and encouraged everyone to keep fighting. He does not hesitate to run and help the man who saved him. He's got a debt to pay, and he will do anything on his hands to pay it. Imagine this:
-Captain Lasky: Call everyone for a criostasis warning, we are jumping into hyperspace, there is no time to waste, we got a call for help, it's masterchief, he needs me, he needs us, it's time to help, to give something back to him no matter what.

Why couldn't the new TV series be like this. This movie didn't have the highest budget, but it feels more real and more grounded in the halo universe than the new show. The spartan actors in this are so much better cast. And Chief: calm, cool, collected. He feels in control. Gentle, but dangerous. This is how the Master Chief should be. Just like the books, or the games. They should have got the directors and producers from this show back for the new series. We could have had something incredible.
The fact that they were trying harder to break the chamber where their weapons were locked by hitting it with metal rod but master chief's single punch broke it open proves how much capable Spartans really are .
When you aren't in the perspective of an almighty spartan elites are so much more scary.
Btw I saw a ton of zealot elites, and canonically they are deployed to recover forerunner artifacts, I think that explains why they would attack a random unsc training base

I thought this netfilm/series was great considering the budget. The bit at the end when Fred and Kelly take there helmets off and you see how young they are, there pale skin and greyish eyes and they turn to chief in unison along with the somber music makes me tear up. I love it. It’s quite well done imo. Really hope this new Halo live action HBO series is top notch. Got high hopes for Pablo Schreiber as Chief. I thought he was great in Den of Theives. Can’t wait.

This piece of media blows the Paramount show out of the water. Even with some of the more flimsy concepts the second half when the covenant attack is sublime filmography and top Halo visuals. Also at this point it felt like 343 had a vision for Halo and even though 4 had some troublesome elements it was alright. 5 and Infinite are in a weird rut because 343 can't plan apparently.
Infinite feels more on track Aesthetically, but its basically dead in the water with no development and personally I feel a lack of more hard-line military elements.
Imagine walking through the woods at night and seeing master chief and some homies driving a dripped up car for a film shoot
then you watch the movie and see you got vfx'd into becoming one of the covenant grunts lmao

i never realised how terrifying the elites are until i watched this movie, you get used to beating them to death in the games, but here, without spartans there to kick their ass, they are MONSTERS
Elites are stronger then odst by a large margin who are humanity's best soldiers so yeah they are monsters. The only people who are capable of 1v1 with the elites and win are Spartans who are kind of a monster in themselves.

Small comment here but I think the way the energy sword is done in this is perfection. In the games it's this fun ohk power weapon but here it's absolute nightmare fuel.
also make sense that Covenants are not talking English in that context, the language they created fit the movie better than in Halo 4 the game.

I love the fact how it portrays a bit of laskeys backstory and perspective and how it ties into the start of halo 4 and caused the infinity to pick up the distress call.
52:13 still stands as one of the most brutal parent deaths I've ever seen for a character. He's dumbstruck when she is hit, and then the scene doubles down and he's completely gutted when she explodes.

We play as Chief sometimes forget how scary the Covenant are, it's refreshing to see, like in Halo 3 ODST, just how frightening these monsters are to the regular human we tend to forget.
That's my gripe with Halo 3 ODST: I never feel that. I have no shields, yet I am taking on bog squads of brute-lead squads of covenant, taking down hunters without a power armor. You are just way too powerful considering you are a human in composite-titanium armor and a fancy helmet. The covenant feel like a joke because of how well you can handle them.
@@Wistbacka Either you're good at the game or too low a difficulty, I play on Heroic and find it fun Legendary is one hell fo a challenge for me.

But that's what I mean: for an ODST, the most realistic difficutly should be legendary with lower HP. That's how powerful the covenant weapons are without any shields.
@@BleedingSnow I play on PC. Heroic with controller would probably be a mind fuck for me. But with mouse aiming, it is too easy. But that is also the issue of Halo 3. Halo 3 on PC is waaay too easy on Heroic. Especially if you just continued from Halo 2. Halo 2 Heroic is perfect.
Halo Reach Heroic is great except for how the maps are designed and throws you in these weird arena situations where enemies shoot you from all directions.
This doesn't get talked about enough. Awesome film

People kinda disliked this when it came out, like it was liked but it wasn't like "this is the best" or "this is a very good". It was like a "meh" to most.
Then the Halo TV show came out and NOW people are coming back to this and actually saying "ya know.. this was actually good, not the best in acting and all but it stayed faithful to the franchise and tried to make a compelling story during the early years of the war."
It's getting the Star Wars treatment; people hated the Prequels but since the Sequels came out, people actually began to love and appreciate the Prequels.
Exactly. People can tell which was made with love, and that's what they'll flock back to. Respect goes a long way.

Came here since the series wasn’t living Up to expectations and honestly I’m so impressed with this.
I actually love the idea that chief isn’t the main character here and he cuts in and out. Almost having that Darth Vader presence. When he’s on screen you feel safe and when he’s not you feel alone.
Fingers crossed halo paramount season 2 can get this vibe.
Lets say the covenant in this movie is not dumb because they attack when it's nightime and because its nightime the planet didnt have time to rescue civilians or even organize their forces to fight the threat.

Well usually covenant wouldn't even deploy ground troops if there are not some high value targets like info on most important human planets and sttlments or if there are not forerunner artifacts. They usually just come to the planet with hundred of sheeps then start bombing and glassing everything
@@eliavita somebody mentioned, that the covenant deployed troops specifically for retrival of forerunner artifacts in this movie. So maybe there was something humanity hadnt found there yet. Also explains why in the end we only see a few ships glassing. I guess they only glas where they already searched.

If they glassed the whole planet, means they are tasked to destroy the human world(e.g Reach). I assumed the fleet that attacked the academy, is the Fleet of Particular Justice led by Thel Vadame.

remember when halo movies and series were about halo.....Yea good times...
That moment when a flashback for the beginning of the worst decline in Halo franchise history (Halo 4) is better than literally anything else put out since said beginning.
It is ironic that the story for the video game was so bad by comparison.
Then again, this is because this was about the main war we care about. This is the same reason star wars sequels on a larger scale didn't work, because there was no point; Anakin's story was over and gone was the empire. The following sequels just did the same all over again.
And that's what happened with Halo 4. First of all I personally think Halo 3 should have ended with chief being MIA, no scene of him after the memorial. But now in Halo 4, after ending the war with the covenant, who is your first enemy? The covenant! Just like the new order was just a substitute empire. And the new enemy was weak af too. The entire Halo 4 and forward destroys the entire point of og trilogy.
@@Wistbacka "A truce with the Covenant" Chief says at the start of Halo 4, which is absolutely fucking not what was going on, it was just the Elites and everyone else was just dipping out and leaving the empire of the Covenant to rot.
@@furiousfinch1587 The weird part about that is the Elites. I expect Jackals and Brutes to go rogue and start scavenging and terrorizing. And grunts are generally quite submissive so they would be there too.
But the Elites are a race with strict codex, rules and honor. If they have said that they are pulling out, they would. If this was immediately after halo 3, then sure, having some remnants would make sense. But this is over 4 years later.
Now in hindsight, it feels odd that humanity would put so much resources into building infinity and her sister ship after this 30 year long war. The resources to build infinity should not even exist after it all.
Just imagine if humans and elites would have made an alliance instead, and when the didact attacked, then there would have been a joint force to protect both Sanghili and Earth.

@@TheSteampug this movie is a flashback tho. Lasky is probably 16-18 ish, and he's around the same age as chief. So in Halo 4 they are both in their 40s, and here they are both teens.

Here again to watch it after an year. This is how a Halo show/movie should be made. Not just representing Spartans but also ODSTs. The feelings, the atmosphere, the tension of the unknown are so beautifully captured! Halo 4 was ok not great but then 343 went downhill... 343 was given a golden cup and they filled it with shit. They never had a vision for Halo & where to take it. They literally forgot what makes Halo Halo.

It was going well for the first 10 minutes, combat was cool, seeing kids get obliterated by plasma weapons is always fun. But holy hell after that it just got worse. I’m annoyed they showed chief’s face, but even more so he just looks like a regular dude. If they’d given us a more scarred or sunlight deprived looking chief I could have gone with it. It’s a shame
