That angle grinder is a beast! 230 mm I assume. Maybe not ideal application, slight over kill, but an awesome tool. I like how he hand finishes grind without jig. So some anti scale mud that needs acid to remove after heat treat? Lots of cool tricks on this video. Great result

I always come back and watch this video again and again. Maybe because of the handle, it's really pretty. Maybe because of the design of the knife itself. Anyway, for some reason I have to see that knife one more time. However the knife is great. Well done sir.

You should continue to do with what you have done so far, because what you are doing is great. Do not change the focus, that's my advice. This is basic shape of bushcraft knife like Ray Mears Woodlore 2 or something , but your knife raised to a higher level.That's my opinion. Probably that's why I'm always coming back to this video

beautiful. I love the burl in the handle scales. the one critique I have for knives like this is, I like a metal bolster with a quillion. the front quillion makes it less likely for your hand to slip onto the blade. it sucks to send yourself to the hospital for a bunch of stitches...build one with a steel or brass top bolster next. and a clip point.

It amazes me how people will comment on your choice of background music and make a comment that it would be better to hear shop noise or listen to a voice-over explaining what you are doing. It's plain and simple...if you don't like what you hear then mute the sound. Anyway, love to see your work and don't change the way you produce your videos unless you choose to do so.

Well, you just have to dry it out after every use, that's just how non-stainless steels work. You can also stain it with patina, for example in vinegar. If you want a knife not to rust without any care, you should make one out of a stainless steel ;)
A knife is a tool and extention of the owner, a knife is a gift from the love of the donor, a knife is a tool for life and for death but it is the hand that a tool finds its breath. Alone it is steal and maybe some wood but it's from the heart that it does its most good.

Hey, thanks man ;) This ain't no secret - it's just a mixture of caustic soda (700g), potasium saltpeter (250g) and water (1,2 l), nothing fancy ;) Be careful tho, this is highly corrosive!

You forgot to etch the spine of the knife. You can still do it after you grind the handles flush. It makes the knife look so much better. I'm not saying it looks bad, it's very nice and so is your presentation. Just think finishing it completely would take it to the next level. 👍🏼 Great job man!
To try some burl wood or pipe woods they got some really beautiful Woods for there I know it's hard to get good substantial sizes of it cuz if they just roots

Czasami się chwalę ;) Statyw nie nagra dynamicznie, potrzebny jest raczej jakiś gimbal czy coś w tym stylu, żeby trochę ustabilizować obraz ;) Dzięki ;)
Hey don't say that, practice really does make perfect with knife making! I've been doing it for three years now and with relatively basic tools, every few knives I make I still see improvements. So always be critical for the sake of improvement but never stop trying to improve. :)

Thanks. Yes, it's 230 mm. This ' anti scale mud ' is a special coating that prevents the steel from decarbunization. ;)

It's just an oil and it didn't make it any darker than it already was ;)
I recommend oiling the blade after the process.

Question did you stabilize that wood with resin or redbull because im confused i don’t think red bull makes a terribly strong handle scale

The spine was blued too after the handle was finished (13:44).

This is an oven that serves for tempering and stabilizing only so it doesn't need to be clean :D
