- Let us know in the comments what knife we should make next! :D
This time we've made a long camp knife with a nontrivial handle.
We've shown how we fit two piecies of wood together and how to make a wooden bead without a lathe ;)

Blackening the steel:
A mixture of caustic soda (700g), potasium saltpeter (250g) and water (1,2 l)
The temperature of the solution should be kept between 120 - 140 C.
I keep the knife inside for about 30 minutes to get consistent black colour, you can manipulate the time to achieve different results, shorter period should give you dark brown or purple - ish colour.
Be careful - this mixture is highly corrosive!
Heat treatment:
-Austenizing temperature: 830 C
-Tempering: 180 C
Specs:
Cicero
Steel: 80CrV2 5 mm
Length: 290 mm
Blade width: 35 mm
Blade length: 155 mm
Handle: Bog oak, Stabilized wood, brass pins
Weight: 280 g

Hey 👋 there this is the first time commenting on your videos 📹 and really I have to admit it it's a beautiful knife 🔪 awesome 👌 work buddy blessings 🙌
I'm a sucker for a fresh ceramic belt! Love your spark catcher too.
Yeah, me too mate :D
Super great channel and incredible knives! Nice job. I would love to see a tutorial on how you get them so nicely black. I want to do that too:)
Also great music in all of you videos!
Un gran trabajo te felicito desde España
I really like the video and the knife. It's so relaxing! Really good work!
Thanks 🤗
Never thought to sand the plunge line like that. Genius!
;)
I said the exact same when I first saw it. I've been wrapping my chainsaw files in sandpaper. Brilliant.
I saw that as well as will be implementing that technique immediately. Way better way than my old rusty habits.
What knife should we make next? :)
Machete??
@@janandel3030 yeah, we're getting ready for that ;)
A folder
@@ridhwaanjogiat1708 this will be a challenge :D
Maybe .. One Khopis?
Congratulations from Brasil!
Damn that's a beautiful knife great work .
Thank you ;)
Very nice!

Que trabajo!!! Me encantó el cuchillo. Si pudiera tener uno escogería este para acompañarme. Hermoso.
Absolutely exquisite work of art. Well done.
Thanks a lot ;)
Awesome informational educational video experience Y'alls
Very impressive very beautiful piece. I was burning to know how you blacked the knife but you explained that in the description. Thank You.
I'm glad we could help ;)
What is the stuff you put on the blade before heat treat?? Lovely camp knife man!!
Бля а музыка, как будто он эльфийский клинок куёт!))
Your micarta looks almost like heavy bond paper. Is it?
Великолепная работа.
KNIFEMAKING 100
Thanks :)

😊🤙🔪
Hei :) Where did you get your belt sander?
Que producto utilizas para empabonar?
Extraordinario... felicitaciones!
What is that stuff you put on your handle Scales.
çok iyi bir çalışma, kutlarım.
You are the best! Please, come back!
perfect!
Thanks
First of all congratulations for your knives your job they are awesome, I'm from Brazil and here I'm starting in this world of make knives. I would ask you what is this black thing? which I saw you passing on most of your knives.
Tks
Great choice in music has a nordic feel about it, got my full attention. Great work.
Thanks
I have noticed the edge of your blade before quenching is too thin. The final edge is decarburized and not as hard as it should be. Just to say... The edge before quenching should be approx. 1.5 to 2 milimeters at least. Nice work though.
Please tell us what brand anti scaling compound you use. That stuff looks like it works great.
Any fine car polishing paste will do the job :) This one is a polish brand and I believe it's available only in Poland
Gayest soundtrack ever
Amazingly well done.
Чем чёрным ты мажешь постоянно?
Beautiful knife but it’s making me crazy that you didn’t finish the front edge of the scales.
What do you mean we didn't finish it? ;)
Thanks for the plunge line sanding tip! Awesome.
I'm glad we could help 😊
Brand new to your channel, and loving it! What kind of machine are you running, if I can ask? KMG, Bader, etc? Please and thank you!
Excellent build and presentation. Subscribed! 👍
Is that lighter colored wood Madrone, by any chance?
I just recently used a piece on a knife handle and it's dang near a perfect match for the wood you used.
It's a stabilized poplar ;)
Thank you ;)
Could you please make a spotify/yt (or both) playlist of the songs u use love them
We always post a link to the music in the description, but sure, I can make a playlist ;)
a beautiful and robust knife.
Thank you :)
👍👍👍🔪🔪🔪
Bellísimo 👌👌👌💪💪💪
Мощный клиночек получился 🤔
Музыка вдохновляющая на славные дела и подвиги 🤔
Сколько будет стоить такой нож? И как его заказать?
just curious, why do you not taper your handle at the front of the handle?
Sometimes we do, depends on the design
Сталь какая? Я делал нож из стали 3 х13 нож бомба был не ржавел и его невозможно было сломать. Я его просрал когда меня менты забирали я его выкинул незаметно.когда выпустили с мусарни ножа уже не было на месте.
How can I get your music? Names and such.
It's in the descripton ;)
Wow..
Stupendo!!!!!
Excellent job, nicely done 👍🏼👌🏼
Thank you

okay and is it okay to cut food? I mean is it toxic?
Great build.how can i get a template of this knife please.
Thanks, we don't share our sketches, we want to keep our designs as unique as possible :)
Nice work. Big like.
Thank you ;)
Whats with the lord of the rings music?
6"/155mm isn't "long" as far as blade length goes mate. I have commissioned a 8 1/2" (215.9mm) long blade length camp knife and I still don't consider this a "long" camp knife, you have to get into the 12" of blade length before you have a *long* camp knife IMHO.
Orion what a load a shit. 6-8 inches for a ‘camp knife’ is as long as you’ll ever need. Anything that a knife of that size can’t do is axe work, simple as that.
I either use a medium sized Scandi grind and a small foresters axe if I need to split or fell anything sizeable, or take just a large-ish convex edged blade that can handle light axe work but still be used for finer work. 12 inches is just far too cumbersome for actual knife work and will never ever ever be as good at being an axe as well.. an axe. So why would you choose one over an axe when at 12 inches you’re probably equalling the weight of an axe anyway.. I’m sorry but your comment made you sound really childish
@@DamnedDamnedDamned1 I should have qualified my statements with a location requirement, and my preference for larger knives. Where I live big knives make sense. I live in the tropics. So most of the time machete's are what is required.
My aforementioned 8 1/2" bladed camp knife will soon be my primary belt knife for all use and I currently regularly use my CS trailmaster (9 1/2") and TOPS Power Eagle (12") as my primary belt knife.
BTW I am 49 years old so your comments about me being childish are insensitive and quite frankly insulting.
I am a tool heavy type, so I always have multiple knives when out bush and so if I have my large knife I will also have a smaller knife and EDC folder available as well.
I also like axes, so I might well have both big knives and axes available when out and about, so it's all good.
I know my TOPS Power Eagle is a versatile tool, an exceptionally good chopper and formidable and useable knife that I have used for several years, that combines the best aspects of the bolo and kukri. If I had to choose a single knife, a true one tool option, one that I could 'do it all with', I would have to choose the Power Eagle, it is simply that good.
Beautiful work and amazing workmanship. What is the bath you put the blank in at 7.28?
It would be nice if you indicated the process or materials? I.e. scale material.
Everything is in the description ;)
Let me tell you something the more I see this video I can really see the craftsmanship you took making that knife
Woooow,,,
Wow. Super excellent. Even watching it is quite satisfying 🔪✨
Thanks a lot! ;)
@@BarbershopCustoms Stop using ;) please it's disturbing me
@@fiddykooro3541 why is it disturbing you though? :D
@@BarbershopCustoms Because
How did you blacken the blade?
It's in the description ;)
44 people were never hugged as a child...
I like it how much is it and does it come with a leather sheath
This one is sold, but we can make a similar one for 270 USD (320 USD with a leather sheath) :)
Barbershop Customs what other color handles can you use and what color leather sheath can you die it
Hello, the blackening mixture is reusable? And if so many times?
Yup, it's reusable until it works ;)
You just need to refill it with water to the initial amount before every use ;)
Is it work with stainless steel?
@@davidmeszlenyi9503 nope
What is the tool use to create the line
What line?
Хотел бы себе такой нож
Wow beautiful knife i like that
Thank you
Could just be me, but it looks like a steadicam was used to make the footage, and it might not have been balanced right, since the video jerks left to right, as though the operator tweaks it to stay centered. Gave me a bit of a headache. But great video and beautiful knife, overall.
Thanks, yeah, we're working on improving the stabilization of the camera
Sir what is the product you wipe on the blade to make them dark?
It's in the description ;)

The knife is fantastic but amazingly that's not a comfortable handle shape for me and like minded. Perfect catch all thought. excellent work.
Thanks, I think you'd have to feel it in your hand to really tell though ;)
@@BarbershopCustoms Fair enough!
Incrível trabalho. Muito bonita
Both beautiful and inspiring! Well done sir. How many hours did you have in that knife?
Thank you. The answer is too many :D
Beautiful knife bro. VERY NICE!!
Thanks mate ;)
Beautiful work...as always! I was wondering if you could share the handle material sealing process. I notice you used a 2 part process (some type of oil followed by a paste or cream of some sort). I'm curious as to what you use and how many coats are applied of each.
I typically use Tung oil to finish all my handles...8-12 coats with a steel wool scrub in between coats (takes forever)
We use linen oil, I don't know how many coats, but we apply it until it doesn't want to soak anymore. The paste is a typical polishing paste, it's used just to give it a final shine ;)
Amazing knife 🙏👏
What belt grinder do you use?
And and what do you use to sharpen your knives ?
Thank you, the belt grinder is made by Paweł Pruszyński.
I use diamond plates to create an initial edge and japanese whetstones (#1000 - #3000) for a quality edge.
Great work! However, it seems to me that tempering is too low to complete the martensitic transformation.
The tempering temperature is proper for this steel ;)
Hypereutectoid steels should be tempered in 180 C
Knife very cool, sound very bad))
Thanks, I'm aware that not everybody will like the music in our videos, but that's just our style :D
NICE ^^ good job
I love it. Great job. How much cost is?
Thank you, 270 USD
