A tribute to one of the most Influential drummers ever.
Abbruzzese's approach to the drums has always been a high energy, power induced with incredible groove and he is also known to be a particularly hard hitter. His trademarks include heavy use of splash & china cymbals, the double-stroke roll, fast right foot and a very tight snare.
Dave's drumming is extremely unique to his playing. When you hear him on a song you immediately know it is Dave Abbruzzese and no one else.
Thanks to UA-cam, gndcd402 & pjvideoguy.
The guy in the back is living the dream. For sure
Dave was the best drummer for PJ. He plays with so much power and passion, unbelievable.
Dave is king. PJ died when he left.
Yes pienso igual
new drummer mean new band
Truest statement regarding pearl jam 🙌
Oh shut up. I agree he was their best drummer. Even they know it. But they've got tons of great songs after him.
@flipjupiter5077 exactly, Dave Abbruzzese is a amazing drummer and he is my favorite, BUT Pearl Jam didn't die after Dave got fired. That's insane!! I have the upmost respect for all the PJ drummers!!! 😊🩷🤟✌️
Love how this video's like Dave Abbruzzese ft. Pearl Jam, but it's a fucking fact. That dude dominated every single song. And as a drummer I gotta say, he's probably my absolutely favourite rock drummer. He's got it all: The energy, the groove, the fills, the stage presence, the chops, dynamics, beautiful cymbal work, a great sounding kit, the long hair, the heavy hitting, the smile, the smooth flow and the huge blazing endings! Truely remarkable drummer.
Well said JoanDrumz , VERY well said , I so agree with you. 👏👍✌☇🌟🕊
100%!!!! Absolutley, Bro
Best musician in PJ.
Inspirational drummer and massive pay it forward artist, helping so many other artists, promoting them and playing on their releases. If you want to hear him play drums in life after PJ, you don't have to look far
Dave here... Thank you for taking the time to share your kind words. 😊
There´s no other drum in PJ like Dave Abbruzzese.
Mike and stones amazing guitars harmonizing with Jeff’s massive 12 string bass is something else
Dave was by far the best drummer they had. Every performance with him is beyond magic and words.
Totally agree. From the south to the north, from the east to the west, we all noticed the same thing. It is not chance then! A huge penalty. With all respect towards that great band, Pearl Jam was not the same since his departure.
That band was somethin else with him in it that's for sure
👍✊💣💪
Dave here... Thank you. I agree. 😁
@@FreeAssRecords You know it Dave. Still after so many years, a thrill and joy to listen to. Thanks so much for the great effort You put in ;-)
Went to school with him; a super nice, chill guy. Amazing musician. Obviously.
When this guy was the PJ sound..... period
Dave Abbruzzese , is my all time favourite PJ drummer and it was an outrage that Eddie snubbed him for the RnR hall of fame..
💯 they soldout long ago not the same band at all Dave was the best
Not for the fact that Dave and I distantly related as cousins but he really did make Pearl jam what they were and what they are !!
Eddie is a hypocritical peace of###$
Dave Abbruzzese , the magic power of the precise blow of the best years of Pearl Jam without doubts !!! We all saw it, we all feel it !!
👍🙏❤️💪
100%!!!
He is too good for PJ.
PJ lived from 1991-1994 only. Hhmmmm who was the drummer then 😂
You can almost see the music flowing out of him. Mind blowing.
POWER + GROOVE = DAVE ABRUZZZZZ!
When he's playing, Dave is like a crazy agile octopus
He is the best drummer they have ever had!! Amazing!!
the wicked Dave!!!!!
Brings me back.. There's no substitute for Dave
yes my friends, Dave A. was the right guy for the band.
he was the Holy Engine, he was the Groove, the Flow.
🇮🇹
Confermo
The way this band , with D.A. on drums n percussion , just oozed energy and charisma back in those days is just striking. 👍✌🌟☇🕊
Drop in the Park!!!!!!
Dave Abbruzzese is unanimously!
That's my Pearl Jam, I miss those days
Dave was too good for pearl jam...they were lucky to have him
You know it !!!
They may have had more technical drummers than dave, but for my money dave really made the early live Pearl Jam sound. I cant take my eyes off of dave whenever I watch Pearl Jam's unplugged set. I think that's one of his highlights with the band for me. I mean he was mesmerizing during that set.
Who? Dave is highly technical.
ese batero mantiene viva la llama de pearl jam, indiscutible
DAVE you da fkn PJ drummer!!
There is just something about Dave like when he plays it’s truly magical and just has such a better sound wish he was still in PJ
Dave A, the most talented musician in PJ. They’re a really good band now, but they were phenomenal then.
That's right with Dave
The early days of the band was nothing short of fucking spectacular!
When I first heard Pearl Jam, Dave was the drummer. They sounded just PERFECT. After he left, PJ never seemed the same to me. It didn't sound as PERFECT as when Dave was in it. He definitely has the grunge spirit and the touch for every song.
Cameron is just too tough.
The best drummer of Pearl Jam Band! Energy Energy Energy
He hits those drums HARD.
one single drummer that inspired me to play drums in high school
@James Hutchence actually, i meant dave abbruzzese, but you're right. Lars did have a big inspiration. he didn't get better as a lot of other drummers did though. Lars did inspire everyone to play double bass part from "One"
@James Hutchence haha, right! I kinda knew you were kidding, but couldn't be sure 100% if you were being sarcastic, and didn't have time to think it over becuz i was too busy watching the news about that jussie smallet arrest hoax fiasco. That thing is interesting! Peace! And keep playing on!🖒
What a scrue job Dave Abbruzzese got
Very nice tribute for Dave A. He's an excellent amazing drummer!!!! Love you Dave A. ♥️🤘🤘🤘🤘
¡El batero con mejor feeling, que haya visto en mi vida!
Despues de John Bonham
Such amazing tasteful drummer his drumming in pearl jam is awesome and a huge factor to me falling in love with the band in the first place. Both Dave and Sean Kinney don’t get enough credit in my opinion they’re are huge part of why their respective bands were so phenomenal.
Yea man , Rock that sh*T!
Love his playing,
That band had fun, the energy level was so high, And it's the drummer, in the driver's seat.
GET DOWN!
Dave 2020 !!!
Magic Dave... without him, Pearl Jam is just another band...
Dave is the best drummer!
Dave and Sean Kinney were so fucking dope still are.
I love modern PJ, but it is a shame that they try to minimize the credits that this man have for helping that band reach the status they had... I was litterally pissed of that the movie PJ20 barely spoke his name. I only wish he will be up there with them when they'll get induced in the rock and roll hall of fame...
im from the future and they were inducted in 2017. and they didnt....its kind of disrespectful they invited all the drummers but not him like he was a ghost or something....i dont like that attitude very much
@@ameliaespindola5145 they invited him too, he chose not to go. Also Eddie specifically thanked him during his speech at the induction and said he was a great drummer.
@@leinonibishop9480 Eddie didn’t even get Dave’s name right
@@davesims7917 eddie doesn't get a lot of names right. he's been mispronouncing jeff ament's last name on stage for 30 years.
the point was, he did mention dave in his speech and he didn't have to.
@@leinonibishop9480 I was actually wrong because he did get his name right and it was nice and he mention it but every Pearl Jam fan knows that Dave was literally almost as important to that band as Eddie was at that point and that’s when they really broke through…
Do not invite him there or to have him in the rock and roll hall of fame on behalf of the band was not right
dave and the best days of this band. such a talented musician. not only he gave to the band and rock. he gave a lot music!👍👍❤
Top shelf 👍✌
Dave was the best!❤
Hall of fame performance right there!
Dave is the best
The music became so vanilla once Dave A left, was never the same again. Matt Cameron is a great sound for Soundgarden, but something is missing from PJ when Dave isn't playing.
He is the man!!!
Jumping Man is the real MVP!
Eddie totally pussed out on Abbzz big sound.
Luv ya Abbz!
Lost all respect for PJ, when they didn't invite Dave to be inducted into HoF...he was their best drummer..
All the other drummers play about 60% of Dave's little splash fills and cymbal work, which never has been replicated since...
his strikes are about 100 more than their done know... a 100 extra splash snare ride crash china.
He devalued the currency of cymbal work.
@@Cpt_Guirk lol
DAVE!!
Matt has left the chat
Never was a huge PJ fan but obvs loved Dave's style and approach but didn't find out till 2 yrs ago he didn't play on TEN, it sounds like him.
Awesome I love Dave A. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Missing you Dave
Great piece..
PJ really is diffrent without Dave
as Chis J write. i only watch dave playing the drums in the mtv unplugged too. specially in the Rockin in the FW song hes perfect!👏👍❤
I know I'm a year late but Dave's drumming in Garden is frikken awesome!! Dude is a machine and it was a low assed blow that he wasn't inducted into RnR Hall of Fame
Si señor , me gusta su estilo y es cierto se reconoce al escuchar su toque!!
Best grunge drummer ever!!
One thing that annoys me when it is played now (and covered) is that Matt does not grab the last cymbal to after he hits it at the end. We see Dave A doing it every time and Krusen must have as well because that's the sound you hear on the album. It added to how haunting the ending is with his moaning and the guitar fading out.
thank you!!!
I didn't realize that Eminem played with PJ before his rap career took off.
fuck off...
this is the best comment i've ever seen on youtube
stone should've never shaved his head... looked way better with long hair
beast
THE DAVE!!!
yeah, i think they only mention his name once or twice in the whole movie, it pisses me off too
sebastian mendoza his drumming lives through us, that’s all that matters
Just PERFECT!
Dave Abbruzzese was the greatest drummer in Pearl Jam style. I'd love to see them playing together again. I wonder why he got out of the band :/
+Alberto p. lozano Eddie didn't like him. He got fired when he didn't compromise with the Tickemaster case.
sad :/ . thanks Pablo Andres Dealbera
Dave Abbruzzese enjoyed being a rock star and said so. Eddie Vedder thought that was against the band's image ("integrity") and did everything possible to push Abbruzzese out.
One guy was being himself and true to what he felt; the other got rid of a crucial comrade to maintain a marketable image. You tell me who's the poseur and who's the true musician. Vedder was a great singer and performer, but genuine and loyal he was not. Not surprising considering he had been a child model.
@@derekmok Looking at the distance, and what Dave told us (invisible but very notorious magic), I agree with what you say. It's a pity, that in the bands, when there is a member that possesses magnetism and strength, another begins to feel uncomfortable because of the damn competition of the one who "catches the most attention". Instead of going very far, egos build bridges, and energies separate. Forever Dave, with all his magic to push that great band much more! Undoubtedly, he could see and feel himself. The best years of Pearl Jam.
The ridiculous part is, Eddie Vedder was one of the most charismatic musicians of his generation. His model training gave him an awareness of image, gestures and emotion that was not a bad thing. Dave Abbruzzese, as virtuosic as he was, could never overshadow Vedder, especially since Vedder wrote the lyrics, which were a huge part of why Pearl Jam's fans connected with the music. Abbruzzese only provided the most volatile, funky, and aggressive drums to back the songs, which only intensified Vedder's charisma. Jack Irons and Dave Krusen brought the fire, as well. But Vedder had to settle for the grooveless Matt Cameron just because Cameron was such a weak personality, he didn't provide any challenge at all.
Dave was awesome! He had a lot heart in this music. Nobody ever talks about how EV likes to butcher their tunes though. I've seen them live and they sucked!
Ten ..versus..Pra sempre ✌✌pj
DAVE esculacha na bateria tocando jeremy ! :)
volta dave ! :)
Dave was a fucking genious
EL BRAVO
That's the only pj drumer i know....Hail dave abbruzzesse..
infelizmente vou morrer e não verei o Dave de volta ao Pearl Jam ;/
Coitado
Dave>others
Anybody here in 2019?
Omg. It's always the same😭💔
Vedder the Egotist couldn’t handle a personality like Dave. What a shame.
This is an awesome recording, where can i download the full show?
Dave takes the spot light off Eddie... just my opinion. Eyes are drawn to Dave's drumming movements because it's impossible to ignore him living through the rythem he's creating. No disrespect to Eddie.... Dave and Eddie were the ultimate grung combination.
I saw PJ with Matt and I gotta say that he didn't really make me think "damn, I wanna come back to see these guys because of him.."
He is flat and barely play the nuances Dave left on his compositions. Dave is the one and true drummer from PJ.
Dave, the man. I copied his tattoo, even with arrow through the stickmans head. He copped a raw deal on the PJ20 doco. Poor form.
It was because of dave A, that made me a pearl jam fan...then after he left, I'm not a fan of their post dave stuff.
Is that Chris Cornell bouncing around in the back?
no hes not👍
Dave A.. The reason Pearl Jam were great. And also the reason they´re not so great any more
absolutely ... the sound of snare (and whole kit, cymbals) is astonishing ... absolutely agree ... i've stopped listening pearl jam after abbruzzese leaving ... cd sound since No Code is sooooo baaaad ... even the technique of the other drummers after him is horrible
falou tudo man, tenho nada contra o Cameron, mas o Dave era animal no PJ
who is the jumping dude back there?
DAVE ABRUZZESE IS THE REAL DRUMMER OF PJ ;MATT CAMERON IS GOOD BUT DAVE IS DAVE;PJ DIED WHEN HE LEFT
Get out Matt (eventhough your talent), but Dave is essencial to PJ.
I like Matt cameron's drumming but not in PJ due to lack of flavor to it,while Dave's was the best for them.
Dave Abbruzzese took PJ and Eddie Vedder to heights they never have even began to climb since he left. Such a boring band ever since. Lame old ladies without energy and rawness.
