I know this may sound so simple but just being sure to make my bed in the morning after doing a Bible devotional. You may want to check out FlyLady. She has so many great little habits that accumulate joy and happiness, too.
I exercise 30 minutes every morning, the endorphins are no joke, it’s sometimes hard to make myself get out of bed to do it but I am always so happy I did the rest of the day ☺️
If you enjoy walking I highly recommend a village to village walking trip in the Cotswolds (England). I have never been myself but I met a couple who told me it was the best trip they've ever taken. You can walk/hike without worrying about camping or carrying food. You can also do this in the Dolomites and New Hampshire's White Mountains :)
#1 Diversifying who I follow on social media (0:48) #2 Walking outside one hour every day (2:50) #3 I treat myself as a best friend (3:55) #4 Getting rid of things which I dont need (5:31) #5 Practicing Gratitude (6:04)
I've recently learned to spin the 5 love languages back on myself. If your top two love languages are Physical Touch and Acts of Service, lean into self care that feeds those. Exercise, skin care routines, diy foot rubs/meal prep, organization and to do lists are some examples of activities I now do that help feed into my top love languages. Same goes for those who's love languages are stronger in Quality Time, Gifts and Words of Affirmation. Lean into them to yourself, for yourself.
Being your own best friend is so important, we can all be so hard on ourselves, life can be tough enough without the person you spend the most time with (yourself) giving you a hard time ☺️
Glad you went with the dark paint. I feel like 90% of youtubers have the typical white wall + fairy lights background so this definitely looks more interesting and makes me feel really cozy!
I’m in the process of replacing the time I spend on browsing through social media platforms-like instagram, snapchat, facebook, twitter, etc.-and replacing it with more informational content-like podcasts, tedtalks, motivational speakers, how-to videos, and overall more self-help and self-care videos-like this one! So thank you so much for sharing this content! Btw, love the new wall color 💚
1. I have changed who I follow on social media. I have eliminated makeup tutorials & hauls and people who are "showy". I have added channels that are entertaining, helpful, teach you something, or involve travel. My time is valuable, so now I my social lines up with my interests and priorities. 2. I am always on the go and multitasking. I'm trying to take a little time each day for me. It can be as simple as drinking a cup of coffee outside or reading/ watching a movie. But letting my thoughts escape my to do list and relax is great!
I love the fact that all the colors in your post are in harmony with one another! From the color to your sweater to the color of your hair to the color of your background!👍👍👏
Being intentional to unplug and get outside is critical! Certainly easier in the warmer months, but can often be equally refreshing even on a dark winters day!
As a Canadian, I can confirm: an hour a day even in the winter is possible. It's all about wearing the right gear. and the fresh, crisp air of winter does extra wonders
The last one really hit home for me. I’m 30 and currently battling breast cancer. I’m through chemo treatment so I’m feeling much better now but the entire time during chemo I was almost mad at myself for not appreciating the days before chemo when I just felt well!
yessss EVERY BODY IS DIFFERENT!!! I had to change up who I'm following. Honestly growing up with all these images from media and magazines, I had this idea of what my body should be and it led to an eating disorder. I am in recovery right now but i wish someone had told me earlier that people aren't all supposed to have the same bodies and that I should diversify the content I am looking at
You know what I am grateful for? I am grateful for all of the content that you have been putting out lately, It’s really good and I have been enjoying it.
I get so happy when you upload. I’ve been subscribed for years and I get a comfy and nostalgic feeling when I watch your videos. Like I’m getting to catch up with an old friend.
Finally found an age-appropriate UA-camr! Your maturity, playfulness, positive attitude, thoughtfulness of content and the dark walls, love them all ❤️
I also got into walking during lockdown. Before I would never think of going for a walk on my own without a destination in mind but now I love it. Usually I listen to a podcast and I end up feeling so refreshed and grateful. For me discovering walking has been the best thing to come of this whole situation
Great video. Sometimes we aren’t even aware of the inner negative dialogue that’s going on in our minds so it’s important to recognize it, stop it and yes...become your own best friend. 👍
I have been watching you for years and I am loving your new content. I am so happy that we have grown together in so many ways. I loved your old content when I was younger and I have dropped many of those channels but yours just keeps getting better with the years.
Loved this video! You are soooo right about needing to treat yourself like you’d treat your best friend! Some great habits I’ve been trying and loving recently are using social media less, meditating almost everyday, having a gratitude and affirmations journal and getting outside more!
You had me in tears about the be your own best friend and don’t allow you to talk to yourself that way! Wow!! Def something I will be working on in the next month! Thank you SO much!! ❤️👍🏻
AGREE TO DIVERSIFYING WHO YOU FOLLOW! It's one thing to aspire to be better, but it's another to accept yourself. Being mindful of who I follow has helped SOO much in this area!! Great quality content all the time!!!
Thank you for not skinny shaming and saying that thinness is OK too, that was so nice ❤️ cause I'm naturally underweight and skinny shaming triggers me a lot so I appreciated that very much, thanks!
Allison I think your mom is very wise when she said you have to be your own best friend. We think you are a lovely lady and we appreciate your content.❤
I really love where your videos have gone. I always learn something new or just appreciate the aesthetic of every single video. I always look forward to your next one. This one felt really important for the current state of life. Thank you for sharing and I hope you are proud of yourself. I’m proud of you.
I don't follow any celebrities or influencers on instagram, just friends, so I never have to see the posed and edited images from women with unrealistic body types :)
Love this video and the paint you used for the walls is beautiful! :) I will definitely be taking some of these tips into my everyday life. Thank you! Some activities that have helped my mental health is journaling, spending time with my dog without my phone, and coloring.
I stopped consuming alcohol. Every morning when I wake up and I don't feel physically shattered by my decisions the night before is a thing to be grateful for indeed.
Thank You Allison. I really needed to hear the point about talking to yourself better. Actually made me tear up in the bath so thank you. I promise to better ✨🌟💫 Grateful to have seen this video today and have the ability to watch it. ☀😉 xoxoxo
The tip about following many/different types of bodies on social media really resonates with me. I used to follow the K... and it Show me only that a certain body type was the only acceptable one. Now I have really put intention to follow other people that show themselves just like they are and it has help me so much mentally. I no longer want to be the skinny person in or the curvy person, I just want to be me.
I need to take your advice on number 3. I’m a teacher who constantly thinks I’m not good enough but in reality - and actually a coworker had to tell me today - that I don’t give myself enough credit. I am too hard on myself. And I realized how hard of a worker I really am.
Appreciating feeling good and not being sick is a big one. My Fall allergies just arrived, and mannn I'm longing for a few days ago when I didn't have this sinus pressure!
Thank you for sharing. Lately I have been thinking about what it means to be your own best friend. It's something I am working towards. Yoga, running and walking help me be me better.
I loved this video. I almost didn’t watch it, because I feel like, unconsciously, our brains want to cling to negativity. I’m glad I actively chose to watch it, which is kinda what the whole video is about! Actively doing things that’ll contribute to our happiness until it becomes more habitual. One thing I’ve been trying to do for about two years now is catching myself when I think or say to someone “I’m so jealous”. If something good happens to your friend, telling them you’re jealous of them does nothing for them or for you. They don’t want you to be jealous of them, they want you to be happy for and celebrate with them! And for yourself, being jealous of your friends just makes you miserable, cause you find yourself longing for things that someone else has. And a lot of times, you aren’t ready for or don’t really want what they have if you really think about it! So I stop myself, ask myself why I think I feel this way, and try to evaluate if that’s something I want to strive for in my life or if it’s not, and then I think about what it is I do want.
Love these. If I talked to other people the way I talk to myself I’d have no one in my life. 🙄 always working on self-compassion. Sigh... I signed off all social media for 3 months over summer and it did wonders for my mood, self esteem, and day to day life. I didn’t feel like “hmm I need to post something today” and I didn’t feel like I had to check on everyone else. I was just living my life. Lol. It was great. I’ve only signed back on to Instagram and unfollowed a lot of accounts. We have to remember we’re in charge of what we consume each day.
Love the color of your walls ❤️ I have made some changes in 2020,I hardly go on Facebook, I am not on Instagram or Twitter I do love utube, but I follow upbeat channels, I follow minimalism videos, and plant based cooking channels, and all channels that bring woman up, such as your channel. My mother used to always tell me, I was my own best friend, I still am, I love my own company lol This year I have decided to wear my hair naturally curly, instead of fighting the curl, it has made a huge difference for me, (self acceptance) following plant based way of eating I. Lost the 20 lbs I have wanted to lose, I owe it to watching great utube plant based videos and tubers. I watch what interest me, I have learned so much here on utube, I hardly watch tv anymore I also love to walk, my husband and I walk the walking trails, we walk up to where we can sit under a gazebo and watch the lake, sometimes we pack a lunch, and walk back home.... if you decide to be happy, anyone can be, it’s your outlook in life, as long as you have your health
I’m a relatively new subscriber, so not sure if you’ve made a video about this, but would love to know about how you shop for clothes as a minimalist. You have such cute outfits and would love to know where you get your basic everyday wear (outside of renting the runway on vacays). Thanks!
Great things mentioned in this and other videos about habits and beyond them - mental mindsets. Mine below are working for me and have been integrated over a long time. I do not recommend nesessarily doing the same or following them in an OCD like maner, which I do not do myself. It's all about balance - physical, chemical (including hormones), and mental/emotional (including human needs). 1. Mindfulness (taking time off from work and people as well as feeding good thoughts and feelings which supresses self medicating addictions) 2. Meditation (not the regular types but Somatic Experience practice style for chronic survival stress) 3. Exercise- not all of the following every day though (weight lifting, stretching, nature walks, yoga, qigong, bike riding) 4. Supplements for sleep, detox, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, immune enhancing, gut microbiota stabilizing, blood sugar regulation, recovery. 5. Expanding my mind beyond myself (learning new things, reading, webinars, studying, exploring, appreciating and giving to other people)
What's up, Allison! I watch your videos here of Brazil! 🇧🇷 (I'm brazilian). I would thank for share wonderful tips... You're Spetacular! ... world need of happiness and peoples awesome... by YOU! 😁🙏🏾❤
You are actually the person I follow to inspire me to love my body type, you look incredible in every outfit and you have so much fun with style and fashion and you look so happy and healthy, and your body type is almost identical to mine. Plus you’re so active and adventurous on top of it all! I’ve lost 46lbs and have 18 more to lose until my goal weight (set with the help of my doctor and nutritionist so it’s reasonable and attainable) but I’ve had the hardest time feeling beautiful and confident in my “new skin”. You help so much, and inspire me to be kind to myself and build my confidence ♥️ plus we have the same taste in clothes lol I actually have had that sweater from everlane in my cart for a month (but in grey), I’m going to buy it as a reward to myself when I hit 55 lbs lost ☺️
Yes to all of those. I also feel better when I drink a lot of water, exercise 5 days a week, get enough sleep, and get some sunshine on my skin every day (only for a few mins a day, otherwise I am wearing sunscreen. Bit D is amazing for immune system and mental health).
Wow sister I’m sssoo happy to have stumbled upon your channel!!! I truly needed to see this video this morning!!! Thank you this is the best “advise” I’ve heard in a very long time!!! Thank you for sharing!!!!! 🙏🏼❤️☮️👻🎃

Reading the news daily, curating my following, and taking walks.

That makes so much sense being my own best friend, when I walk it makes me feel so much better about my day thanks for the video.

Great habits. Thank you for sharing. I'm 42 and I feel like I've been working on #3 my.entire.life lol. Very insightful. Thank you again.
Wow I've never thought about diversifying my social media consciously before, this is so true and something I need to tackle!
The tip about following many/different types of bodies on social media really resonates with me. I used to follow the K... and it Show me only that a certain body type was the only acceptable one. It blows my mind that you don't have a bajillion subscribers. Your content is the kind people need in their lives! Love you girl!

This year, I decided I would take a long walk every morning and it has worked well. I also declutter on a regular basis, it feels fantastic
Loved this video, Allison! Thanks for putting out such great content ❤️
