@@BenettGraezer cool thanks. I guess the whole lab mic issue is sort of not an issue seeing as though the mics themselves are so compact. They basically are upsized lav mics themselves. I just received this system and the sound quality is terrific. Receivers will connect through bluetooth to the Insta360 X4 as well. I love how the receivers fit in the case with the dead cats connected and the transmitter cable fits in the case as well.
Great video my friend. I was just about to push the button on a set of Mic 2’s for Vlogging, but I’ll be getting a set of these now. They are £49 each in the UK, cracking price…
Thank you! Glad you found the video helpful. The price of the mini is fantastic, especially for what they offer. I’m sure you’ll love using them for vlogging!
Since I use various DJI Osmo products that are compatible with the Mini, it makes sense for me to choose the Mini. In terms of audio quality both are great!
@@Larkintvthey’re probably both pretty comparable. I would highly recommend no matter what that you connect the receiver to your phone instead of trying to record via Bluetooth the quality is much better.
I tested both mics with an iPhone, and I hate to admit it, but the Lark M2 sounds better overall. It delivers richer high tones, while the Mic Mini comes off a bit muffled in comparison. Unless you specifically need to record over 300 meters away, the Lark M2 is definitely the better choice.
Tolle Produktvorstellung und mit sehr viel Liebe zum Detail erklärt. Ich wusste gar nicht, dass ich meine Osmo 4 direkt auch „ohne Empfänger“ verbinden könnte. Danke für das Video👍
Hi Benett, thanks for the informative review. It was a worthy point to mention the drop in quality when using blue tooth to directly connect to smartphone. I believe you can also start on stop recording from the transmitter when it is linked to the Osmo action cameras.
Does the DJI Mic Mini's receiver's USB connector plug in ok if your iPhone 16 Pro Max is enclosed in a Smallrig Brandon Li cage? Does the added bulk of the Smallrig cage obstruct the connection? Do you need some kind of USB extension adapter or cable? Also, is there the same possible connection issue plugging in the Lexar Professional GO SSD and Hub into the Smallrig Brandon Li type cage?
To directly answer your question: There is NO lightning adapter included. You have to buy that separately, with the Dji Mic 2 kit it is included in the 1x1 and 1x2 kits :)
@ I thought they might be the same (from memory) … and then I checked the dji webshop, and they are different!… and here is what it says: Allows the DJI Mic Mini receiver to connect to Apple mobile devices with a Lightning port for audio recording. *Not compatible with DJI Mic and DJI Mic 2.* What a gang of ***** - so the answer is *no* :/
One of the major comparative advantages of the original dji mic was that it did separate recording on the transmitter...something that seems to be ignored by the new product presentations.
I already have two Mic 2 units that came with the Osmo Pocket 3, and I also purchased two additional microphones. If these are compatible with the receiver, that would be fantastic. I made the purchase, but it seems I won’t receive it until around December 5th, so I can’t test it yet. That’s why I’m asking.

@@BenettGraezer Thank you, would you do a tutorial how to set up a yoga studio, like which camera to use, lights etc because now the mic is OK (dji) 😉🙏
Having had and used the DJI Mic 2 since it came out, making several videos on feature and flaws (no backup recording while connected via bluetooth to smartphones being the big one, since you can’t then bring just the mic and a phone and record a crappy bt audio track to your video and easily sync and replace it with a decent internal recording later) the Dji Mic Mini is probably the version most people should get, unless one REALLY needs the internal backup recording done internally on the Dji Mic 2’s (most people don’t need it for hobby video, necessary for «pro» use/paid productions). The bluetooth option is unusable anyway on both versions, and *most* people don’t need the 32 bit float quality of the internal dji mic 2 recordings unless they are recording in conditions where audio levels might go from normal to REALLY LOUD (i.e. during football matches or other sporting events, interviewing really exited people or recording audio from speakers who talk *really* loud at times, but then fluctuates between loud and normal volumes). However: if one has a older iphone (with lightning), use a thick case on their phone, or use an android without usb c the Mini is not a really good option, and not the mic 2 either :/
Thanks for sharing! I agree, while I see the value of the Mic 2 for professional use, I think the Mini is better suited for most creators. It’s simpler and more practical unless advanced audio features are absolutely necessary. I find myself using the mic mini mire for casual shooting :)
@ absolutely, the mini seems to be the perfect entry level product for getting good audio on the go :) It’s just too bad the current bluetooth standard makes the «killer feature» for a minimal setup practically unusable, and that they have treated the mini as a completely separate product not making it compatible with the dji mic 2 receiver :/ They even made the lightning/usb c-adapters incompatible between the mini-receiver and the mic 2-receiver. Btw: Can the Mini-Receiver be connected to an iphone with usb c-port directly through the mini-receivers usb-c port? The Dji Mic 2 receiver works this way, so I don’t have to use the adapter, I have a thick phone case so the adapter plug doesn’t reach the phone port, so I use a usb c cable connecting the mic 2 receiver to my iphone 15 pro max when filming, and was wondering if the mic mini receiver works the same way, or if the mini-receiver usb-c port is only for charging :)

Whoah,...woah...it drops from 48k sample rate to 16k sample rate? Are you sure about that? That would mean the highest frequency that could pass is 8k (half the max sample rate) worth of treble. That would kill all the high frequency sound. Are you 100% sure>
I can confirm the drop is *massive* in audio quality when connecting via bluetooth directly to a smartphone. The reason is it’s using the «call quality» bt encoder stuff, so it’s basically the same audio quality you get from a headset on phonecalls:/ Bluetooth was never built for high end recording of audio, and the higher quality audio you get in headphones listening to music is because the music is already compressed using computers with much more power + BT is using a higher quality codec for transmitting *to* a headset. «On the fly» compression of voice *to* a phone uses lower quality codec which results in lower quality audio (like in Benetts audio example of BT audio quality :)
