I'm 35, and I'm starting college next month. This is a theme song for me right now. The 10 people who gave this a thumbs down must still be wasting their time. Just like I did.
@7 Angels 7 Plagues Bashing people for wanting to improve their lives isn't a good look, broseph. Might wanna reign in some of that edge. You're definitely not as cool as you think you are.
I feel like I Don't Wanna Grow Up was that punk rock/new wave album most forgot about but loved throughout their whole life, and rightfully so. It's a great Descendents album, and personally, in my top five.
Been to many descendants shows and they never ever play this song. They never play alot of their serious material , they rather do songs like allogistics, enjoy, or van. I would love to hear these songs live, days are blood, impressions, doug rides a skateboard, or in love this way.
these lyrics really spoke to me at a low point in my life. I was failing my classes and my family was broke and i felt like i was useless just standing still not doing anything to help. This song inspired me and i felt like one day I'll have my way. I still haven't experienced that day but i will keep on trying so that one day when i have kids i can play this song for them and tell them about how i never gave up
With all of your miiiiind And all of your souuuul And all of your hearrrt If you wanna be smaaaarrt You've got a lot to giiive Don't throw it awaaaay You'll have your way somedaaay It will come to you
I see the anger in the back of your eyes I know the vengeance running through your mind You're up on the cross with a heart full of nails Hanging your head low whenever you fail You're thinking (now's the time) You keep saying (now's the time) But you still keep standing still You're free now (now's the time) It's over now (now's the time) And I believe now's the time to live And there ain't a thing now that you cant do You expect everyone to have pity on you Nobody else can put their life in your hands So get up and move while you still have the chance With all of your mind and all of your soul And all of your heart, if you wanna be smart You've got a lot to give, don't throw it away You'll have your way someday, it will come to you You're thinking (now's the time) You keep saying (now's the time) But you still keep standing still You're free now (now's the time) It's over now (now's the time) And I believe now's the time to live Do what you do with the rest of your days You had it all and you gave some away It's not going to matter when you're dead and gone You be remembered for the good that you've done So quit thinking (now's the time) And start doing (now's the time) You got a lot to live for So quit crying (now's the time) And start tryin' (now's the time) Now's the time, now's the time to live You say you've been run through the lover's mill But people are starving while you get your fill There's no time for standing still There's another void that you can fulfill That you can fulfill With all of your mind and all of your soul And all of your heart, if you want to be smart You've got a lot to give, don't throw it away You'll have your way someday, it will come to you So quit thinking (now's the time) And start doing (now's the time) You got a lot to live for So quit crying (now's the time) And start tryin' (now's the time) Now's the time, now's the time to live
I don't know why this song in particular cuz I never did it on purpose, I'm guessing it's probably because of the subject matter where the lyrics or just my liking for the song already but when I was in jail and I was awaiting my court case to get set free this song was playing in my head every single day morning night and afternoon and when I got out and they finally gave me my phone this was the first song that I had played.
It honestly sounds closer to The Cure or The Smiths compared to their other songs. It's basically like post-punk/new wave. You could also try TSOL and PIL for bands directly from the punk scene.
The theme is about feeling like a failure and wanting to end your life to relieve the pain. Listen to the lyrics through this lens and it kinda makes sense.
I hereby declare this one of the most underrated songs ever.
Ty for doing this in time before I was too late
Agreed!!!
AGREED.

A masterpiece of a song.
This song needs to be a regular on their tour setlists!
Can anyone answer the question: Why don't they play this live? I have met Milo twice, I wish I had asked him.
Insanely underrated song.
I can see this on the GTA: Vice City soundtrack or something.
Hopefully they put it in when the new remasters come out soon

best song ever
I see the anger in the back of your eyes
I know the vengeance running through your mind
You're up on the cross with a heart full of nails
Hanging your head low whenever you fail
You're thinking (now's the time)
You keep saying (now's the time)
But you still keep standing still
You're free now (now's the time)
It's over now (now's the time)
And I believe now's the time to live
And there ain't a thing now that you cant do
You expect everyone to have pity on you
Nobody else can put their life in your hands
So get up and move while you still have the chance
With all of your mind and all of your soul
And all of your heart, if you wanna be smart
You've got a lot to give, don't throw it away
You'll have your way someday, it will come to you
You're thinking (now's the time)
You keep saying (now's the time)
But you still keep standing still
You're free now (now's the time)
It's over now (now's the time)
And I believe now's the time to live
Do what you do with the rest of your days
You had it all and you gave some away
It's not going to matter when you're dead and gone
You be remembered for the good that you've done
So quit thinking (now's the time)
And start doing (now's the time)
You got a lot to live for
So quit crying (now's the time)
And start tryin' (now's the time)
Now's the time, now's the time to live
You say you've been run through the lover's mill
But people are starving while you get your fill
There's no time for standing still
There's another void that you can fulfill
That you can fulfill
With all of your mind and all of your soul
And all of your heart, if you want to be smart
You've got a lot to give, don't throw it away
You'll have your way someday, it will come to you
So quit thinking (now's the time)
And start doing (now's the time)
You got a lot to live for
So quit crying (now's the time)
And start tryin' (now's the time)
Now's the time, now's the time to live

I was the 21,499th viewer for about 20 times...
This song and silly girl and jean is dead best songs ever..
Interpol would be the perfect band to cover this song.
Milo is God.
Love correcting a nine year old comment. But Bill wrote this song.
i like their first albulm the best though this one is still great
Other bands in this song's style?
Scott Raynor Screeching Weasel
There is nothing like these guys

Never really understood what this song was about
Anyone mind explaining?
I think it's an inspirational song. ;) I've always felt it's sortof "Get off your ass and make your dreams come true." mixed with "You can do it!". ;)
Makes sense. I think your right
+Marcus Henderson wtf what
+Jose Salazar I think it's trying to convince/inspire someone to not kill themselves. ex. "You've got a lot to live for". But that's just my thought.
The theme is about feeling like a failure and wanting to end your life to relieve the pain. Listen to the lyrics through this lens and it kinda makes sense.
:( My life will never change.
how is it going bro?
@@KrzysztofKozak was fine for a while but went downhill shit. I go to therapy and psychiatrists so there's still hope for me left.
@danielscissorhands this song is so good and noone fucking listens to the descendents, best punk band
@Guidi33 la segunda mejor banda del mundo ;)
The lyrics posted on here are inaccurate
I want to know the 5 idiots who thumb downed this tune are.
They are called assholes and we all know what comes out of those.
Probably Trump voters. :D
danielscissorhands Damn, you were in this comment section for 9 years... I’m impressed.
