- Krystian Zimerman joined forces with Sir Simon Rattle and the London Symphony Orchestra in December 2020 in Beethoven’s five piano concertos. Their spellbinding performances harvested a bumper crop of critical superlatives. Here was “history in the making”, wrote The Times in its five-star review, while Bachtrack noted, “Purity and clarity are hallmarks of Zimerman’s playing and there was an almost aristocratic composure to his phrasing and a velvet touch … Everything was meticulous, not … a quaver out of place.”
Tracing a path from Classicism to Romanticism, the five works are masterpieces of a genre revolutionised by Beethoven. It was as a virtuoso pianist that he first made his name and he premiered all but the Fifth Concerto himself - his deafness was so serious by then that he no longer felt confident about performing in public.

I'm in tears... I grew up listening to Zimerman. Best pianist of all time without a question. When I learned about the fact that he literally can take a piano apart, and put it back together, and also the fact that he has 6 piano, each has its own purpose, I consider him not only as the greatest pianist, but also the "physician" of pianos. May Lord continue to bless you with health, happiness, music, and joy for many many years dear Krystian Zimerman. The world of piano wouldn't be the same without you.

When you want to hear the soul play listen to Zimerman. His playing carries with it an unrivalled sense of deep musicality to the extent that he is even critical of his own playing. Hats off to Zimerman and a lovely orchestra! 👏👏👏
Oh, how gorgeous! Two master musicians, Zimerman and Sir Simon, have chosen an ideal pace for this lovely Adagio. They give us time to enjoy the peace and beauty, yet with a feeling of motion in anticipation of what is yet to come. Each phrase is filled with expression and meaning; the piano and the orchestra have achieved perfect balance. The result is poetry in sound...which has put me into a state of bliss. Ah!! Thank you!!

Beethoven Piano Concertos with Wiener Philharmoniker directed by Bernstein (1&2) and by Zimerman himself (3-5) are superb. 197 minutes of exquisite interpretations. They can bring you to tears I swear.
It is the opposite Bernstein conducts 3-5 and Zimerman 1&2....
Zimmerman believes he necessary to redo the Beethoven series.

I’ve been listening to Beethoven’s piano concertos a lot lately. Especially Zimerman’s recordings. Wonderful is the only word I can think of to describe it, and it just doesn’t do it justice.
I have exactly the same feeling. I,m deeply moved by the music and cant completely express my sentiments.

Zimerman has proved one thing in the pantheon of the best pianists in the history of known mankind.
He has been more than outstanding since the Chopin Competition. Today it has become a continent in classical music performed at least in the scale of the world. In my opinion, after this album, No. 1 among pianists in history.
Zi?merman plays in asuch a way that makes my hearth quiver. I feel the love, unconditional love .the feeling is strong and difficult to express in mords he is real magician. Thank Krystian for such a beautiful gift

Dimitri Bashkirov her teacher Anastasia Virsaladze teach saying to Bashkirov the most important Lesson is the Love of the beautiful colorful piano sound! This was already in 1930s!! Really shocking! All todays players are colorless cold piano sound olayers like Zimerman Kissin( ice cold piano sound!) Pletnev and latest hype student Yunchan Lim( played colorless cold Rach concerto no 3 in the Cliburn finals!) And crazy deaf people claiming Zimerman Kissin Pletnev and student Yunchan Lim the greatest! All the beautiful colorful piano sound players are gone dead like Wilhelm Kempff Emil Gilels Radu Lupu Artur Rubinstein Vladimir Ashkenazy! Really the greatest are Sviatoslav Richter( Genius no 1!) Maurizio Pollini( genius no 2!) Emil Gilels( the King!) Artur Rubinstein Wilhelm Kempff Radu Lupu Grigory Sokolov( The Giant! The Titan of Piano! Sokolov his rhythmic vitalness is unbeatable!)

@@RaineriHakkarainen Sokolov is astounding and grossly underappreciated. Pollini, Richter, Rubinstein, Gilels...all fantastic. But, among the greats, there is but one who brought more to the piano than anyone since Rachmaninov and whose work some of these people you list would neither perform nor record out of their own incapacity to do it justice (and they said so) - that is Glenn Gould. the entire baroque genre would not be part of the standard repertoire without him. In a lot of respects that contribution to piano exceeds Rachmaninov's compositional work, regardless of whether Sergei was the greatest technical pianist of the recording era.
Berthoven’s music is sublime! Krystian Zimerman’s performance of it has opened the doors of heaven to me❤️🎹❤️🎹❤️

went to a fab free concert today with my friend Caroline it was a brass quintet. I reminded her we went to an 'open rehearsal' concert years ago to hear the Emperor concerto by that bloke Beethoven with the conductor Lorin Mazzel and the pianist Maurizo Polllini - she had never heard it before i recall it , as she dug her nails in my leg listening to this - took weeks for the bruises to go but its no surprise - its fabulous music. .

Thank you Deutsche Grammonphon for posting this video. Because of Covid-19, the Beethoven Marathon scheduled for Oct 2020 at the Concertgebouw was cancelled, even though we were lucky enough to purchase the last pair of tickets for the concert. I can only imagine what a memorable experience that would have been if the performance in Amsterdam had happened.

Even without knowing anything about Mr. Zimmerman, I remember that from the first moment I saw and heard him play, it was somehow different. Can't explain it, but to me it is like having the real Beethoven, Chopin, or so play his music. So I keep on searching his performances, because I just like it. But there are many others that are incredibly good and adorable.
Some music can just move you to tears.🙏

Es ist ganz einfach: Besser kann man das nicht darbieten. Weltklasse. Und ich meine ausdrücklich den gesamten Klangkörper inklusive Sir Simon Rattle. Einfach wunderbar. Offensichtlich hat der Pianist seine Nervosität in den Griff bekommen; Insider wissen was ich meine.
