KDM: There's literally no competition for it other than Aeon's Trespass after all these years. They've added an entire expansion that's larger than the base game. Bro..
Cool video. I like your emphasis on accessibility. Surprised not to see any Zombicide entries on the list. Not saying it should be top 5, but they’re super accessible especially considering only one person needs to automate the zombies.
Ignoring the top 25 stipulation my list would be: 1) Marvel champions 2) The Loop 3) Slay the Spire 4) Tidal Blades 2 (replacing Gloomhaven JotL) 5) Dead men tell no tales (basically pandemic but pirate themed) I really enjoyed Aeon’s End over the years but the collection became such an overwhelming mess of stuff I’ve had no motivation to organize it and set it up again. Some fun “totally different” coops for me are Just One/So Clover, Roll Camera, Project Elite. Really looking forward to Grimcoven and DC united in 2025 (hopefully…)
So kudos to your top 3 coop as they are both in my top ten overall. Now, I do have to take aim at your comment about destroying pandemic se1, as I was a huge nerd and save every bit of info, every little sticker, and restored them back into their original form. I did it, it’s true! In hope that someday my kids will be interested and I would have then forgotten everything and will be able to experience it again, for the first time…..will it happen or not? Now I have big box on the shelf that I wish wasn’t
My top coop games are Spirit Island and all Pandemic Legacies (technically, I rated Scythe: Fenris a 10, too, but not for the coop mode), followed by Tidal Blades 2, different versions of Aeon's End, and then Gloomhaven: JotL, Dead Reckoning, and Frostpunk. I suspect that Frosthaven (and maybe Gloomhaven), Voidfall, and Tindaya might also have a chance of ending up in one of those rating categories (8.5+/10), but I haven't played them enough. The Emerald Flame is a 9 for me (and I expect that other PostCurious games will be similar), but this feels like a different game category. I'm also very curious about the coop modes for Concordia, Viticulture, Lost Ruins of Arnak, and Orléans. The most unique ones of the ones I've rated an 8 are probably The LOOP and Paint the Roses.
Normally I see a lot of biased crap in tier lists, rankings and so on. Also, a weird interpretation of what makes a good game. Still, I agree with Cthulhu Death May Die being put anywhere in top 10 due to very simple reason - accessibility and fun factor. I was able to introduce about 10 different people to board games as a hobby thanks to CDMD. Everyone enjoyed it because rules are not overbloated, a lot of things are streamlined and the theme is a curiosity for a lot of folks. Hell, even my father, a dude that is about to strike 60 this week and only ever played monopoly-like games decades ago, reconsidered his opinion on board games being "a boring thing just for kids". Game has little to none negative interaction (being mostly insanity based triggers out of players control). Once you know the rules, then teaching anyone new is almost an example of how to streamline the process. It is randomly punishing but most people expect it from a board game and you have ways to react/mitigate some of it...which is fun for quick thinkers. It simply checks out all the boxes and while there are better designed games, this is just the case of doing the most things "just right" :D
Too Many Bones is best at 3 players Mage Knight is best at 2 players coop 2 handed. This list is good for new players. For seasoned coop gamers, it's not - apart from Spirit Island. How is it number one when the whole point of your list is accessibility? It's way more accessible then GH and MK but it's no way near the Crew and all the others in your top 5.
Accessibility is just one criterion (that Chris values more than the average BGG user does); Spirit Island is just so good that it's his number one out of those, despite its complexity (and because it's not an expensive campaign game with too many miniatures ;)).
My top 3 cooperative games are all in my top 10 of all time: 1- Return to the Dark Tower 2- Cthulhu DMD 3- Project Elite
Nice!
My top 4 coop games (and my top 4 overall games):
1. Spirit Island
2. The Crew
3. Marvel Champions
4. Gloomhaven

I wish they had a standee version for people that want to play the game but don’t want to deal with the hassle of assembling minis
Great list!
mechs vs minions is so good. Sad the chatter on it died down
With Arcane s2 being a banger too, there might be some noise again

That's because he is rearranging the Top 25 on BGG; the first Zombicide is on 48.
It’s a crime that Marvel United and Return to Dark Tower are not on this list.
Nice List. Suggest playing return to dark tower if you haven’t and enjoy a fantasy setting.
Thanks for the video, this list is great.

What about that Leviathan game you like?

Marvel united is top 1 for me.
Completely agree
No Aeon Trespass?
no daybreak?
Wonder what you think of LotR JiME
