- Dead & Company - Althea - 7/16/2023 - Oracle Park - San Francisco, CA.
Althea has become John Mayer's signature Grateful Dead song. With Dead & Company, Mayer breathed fresh new life into this Jerry Garcia masterpiece time and time again. There are things you can replace, and others you cannot. With talk about a new incarnation of Dead & Company maybe emerging without some of the founding members, it's very difficult to imagine anything achieving the level of grateness that Dead & Company has enjoyed. John Mayer is one of the main reasons for that success and he is a key component that cannot be replaced because it will never work.
The theme of the last three Dead & Company shows in San Francisco shows, for many of us, was that of pure appreciation especially for Mayer. He stepped into shoes that were impossible to fill and found a way to do it with his tremendous skill set and fresh interpretation of this music. In 2015 at Fare Thee Well a spark was created that rekindled a flame in many Deadheads, and that fire consumed us with Dead & Company for the last 8 years. We are now and forever grateful. Thank you John, Bobby and all! ⚡️🙏⚡️

What a special night. Honestly, if you were there those words do not do it justice at all. I simply can not stop thinking about how fortunate I was to be there.
I was there too. Absolutely magical night
A truly magical experience. My favorite Dead show ever… and I saw them a lot before D&C. I had same spot on floor on the other side of the stage.
was my first dead show and it was amazing
So happy to have Met many of us. That show was a LIFE CHANGER!!!
Danced on the Riser behind Keyboards.
I am forever GRATEFUL!
Ballpark was groovin’ to say the least.. true heady hippy crowd 😎 ☮️ ❤️
The whole show was totally over the top! Energy level was up for everyone in the band and in the ballpark. The place was full of young people. The music has a whole new generation of passionate fans. The vibe was more fun than at GDead shows in the 60s (I got on the bus in '67). Everyone in the band was obviously having a Good Time. I sure hope they play together again. Maybe do a residency at Oracle park, Play for a couple of weeks at the same location? No tour road troubles, just grate music for all to enjoy.
Thanks for the video. It brings the show back alive.
Just a couple one-in-a-billion multi-decade perfected musical prodigy grandmasters at work, nbd
Omg it shows me putting my 12 yr old.son on my shoulders he is going to love this what a great show!!❤
love what you wrote in the description- an eloquent definition of How I feel too.
thank you for sharing and thank you all for being a part of this wonderful community “KNOW OUR LOVE WILL NEVER FADE AWAY” ..
Words can’t describe what an incredible evening this was !!❤💀😎
This one’s special! John was feeling it
Althea is my favorite popular "John song". That sly smile when he sings, "okay, that's *fine*" at the end is just too much. 😅🥵🔥
Thank you for the BEST memories of my entire life! I really, REALLY hope there's D&C v2.0 called Dead and Friends, with Bobby, John, Oteil, Jeff, Mickey, and Jay.
Luv Athea !!...I first heard it at an outdoor concert at UCB, Boulder Co. We had a leftover beer keg from a party the previous night and I dragged it down to the stadium and sold dollar beers until I had enough 'and then some' to go in...great times !!
This is one of my favorites of Althea by JM
Thanks for sharing, my favorite song !
Thanks for posting! I was in 102 but forgot I had a phone in my pocket so I didn’t get many photos or videos! I feel like you were in a similar row in 101 maybe, anyways thanks a bunch! What a weekend!!
One of my favorites from that night, Jerry would be so proud of John
ABSOLUTELY 💯 BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
This was AWESOME! I need to hear the Betty Boards on this one!
Great recordings. Thank you!
Danks!
They should do a greatest hits dead and company studio album.
I was here when this happened
Winter coats in July got me spinnin.
"The coldest winter I ever had was summer in San Francisco" -Mark Twain
Remind me of Candlestick Park! 😂
Is this the greatest Althea solo? Jerry included? I hate to ask but i need validation
So good!
Bobby: We’ll miss you so much. You
Deserve your time off. Stanford is very lucky to have your skilled

We’re lucky this was set 1 and the lights weren’t ripping yet. I think I would have passed away
Fuck I went Saturday and missed my favorite song Althea but I saw Ripple which made up for it
Second best thing to Jerry!
CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE BLOWUP DOLL @5:55 - 6:12 lol?! 😂
This one lost focus for a bit it happens sometimes with them but rare for Grateful Dead.
