If you follow my channel you know I've gone through a long process of repair problems with my Typhoon H Plus, getting it repaired by KAV Service in Kansas City, and ultimately replaced by Yuneec. Last week i received a replacement drone from Yuneec and this past weekend I was able to take it out for a test. Did the obstacle avoidance on this drone work? Were there any other Yuneec repair problems? What were my initial thoughts about the Typhoon H Plus? Here are some scenes from Saturday's test flight.
Finaly got one that works its about time for ya. Looks great and wow it's a power load. Thanks for posting and cant wait to see more from this keep up the good work :)
Hello Jeff. Glad you got the replacement and that it does what it should. I know your concern was whether it was going to fly properly. I am curious to see what the camera is capable of. I know this flight was not optimal for video running into the sun. Hopefully you will do another short piece on the camera and camera settings. Looking forward to what you can get out of the 1" sensor. All the best, Jim
Glad to get your clip on the H Plus test flight, Jeff. I think once you get into the video and photo evaluation, you will find this bird does a great job with the 1" sensor. It is a "beast" as you say regarding the size and powerful motors. I have found it difficult to travel with so use my Mavic Pro or even my Spark for vacations. The H Plus is pretty much used for client work. I have the Mavic Mini coming and think it will be a great addition to my drone fleet. Glad you finally got it straighten our with Yuneec.
We think alike. The H and H Plus are both too big for travel unless you want to spend a fortune on a hard case and another forturne on checking the drone, and hand carryign those batteries . . . I took the phantom on one trip and it was too big, had to leave most of my camera equipment home. I've taken the Evo on two trips and that has worked well, but it's a big chunk of space in the suitcase. I also have a mini coming - should be here any day. If it turns out to be a good drone, I'll be taking it to Italy next year. But when Im flying around here, I know I'll enjoy the plus - as long as it keeps working properly.
OK- I noticed that your video at 5:44 to 6:14 is slightly tilted down on the left side. Has this happened on all your flights? I sent mine back last year for the same issue and it still wasn't corrected. Apparently 'they' did a firmware fix that 'supposedly' fixed the problem (which didn't do anything). I can solve it in post production but it's still an annoyance. Thanks for doing this video!
hmmmm . . . now I need to test this out more, see if this is a recurring issue for me. There's no way in HELL that I'd send it in for service though LOL. Thanks for bringing this up.
@@JeffSibelius Let me know what you find out. Weather here in MN has been pretty rough and I haven't been able to fly my H+ lately. From what I've seen on other forums is that KAV service center is closed, but I can't confirm that.
Dr. Sibelius, for the past two years I have been flying a Yuneek Typhoon H Pro of which I am happy (yes, I have successfully worked my way through a few issues). I use various batteries such as Yuneek, Ultrax, Morpilit and frankly they all suck and are short lived (I may be expecting too much?).. But, the sucking well may be because of the crappy 'Venom Typhoon H X4 Pro Charger' (I own 3..!!) which all have issues from day one (nice people, crappy product)... Hopefully the battery and charging technology has improved during the last two years.. Can you, or any of the readers here make recommendations for both (especially the charging), as all my batteries cannot hold a reasonable charge and need replacement.. May you and your family enjoy a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year..!!
Your choices may be limited at this point, unfortunately. It's hard to find replacement batteries right now for the H. I'm betting your problem is the charger, based on what you describe. You might contact Carolina Dronz and ask if they still have a battery charger with the appropriate plug adapter for the H Pro. You may be able to breathe new life into your old batteries with a decent charger.
Hi,I own a typhoon h several years old. I live in Minnesota and was going to fly over a frozen lake, I had 18 satellites I took off and hovered for a minute I moved the throttle to take off and the quad took off 100 miles an hour sideways and crashed? Any thoughts thanks Rick HELP PLEAS
I was looking into typhoon H + for filming a family event ( God Willing). have a lot of experience flying 3DR, XKX AIRCAM , & XKX 380. Was looking at powerVision powereye $1200 but that drones batterys cost $250 and $1200 tho really good for the price . There's not a lot of real informative videos on it that drone. I'm interested in H + if it can record stable video ak 4k 30ps. Saw Autel evo reviews better camera, range tho batteries are about same flight time. I think what I like is the H+ looks much cooler then any quadcopter and I think if you need better range they have screw on range booster
The Evo doesn't as good a camera as the H plus has; however, the new Evo 2 with the 1" sensor will be comparable if not better. The Plus is a very cool looking drone and it handles wind better than anything I'm aware of. Right now, though, I would not buy any Yuneec drone. Until they get things resolved with warranty repairs on their drones and a good supply of replacement parts, I just can't trust them. And now with this pandemic, I honestly wonder how the company will survive. Right now, your best drones are the Phantom 4 Pro, Autel Evo, Mavic 2 Pro - soon, the Evo 2 will be released and it should be an outstanding drone.
@@JeffSibelius Thank you for your time and advice. I'm going to back away from the yuneec brand. Thinking seriously of going with the powereye from power vision tho it may have issues with urban setting which is not a deal breaker considering that a $15 DJI signal booster properly molded to fit powereye antennas should fix that issue. I love watching range test videos but personally I wouldn't want a 9 lb drone ( powereye) to drop on someone's head if catastrophic failure happens, 1 thing that typhoon H + has over powereye is redundant motor. Thanks again. Sincerely William Horsley
Jeff, what you recommend I do since to try and get my drone replaced by Yuneec. They have decided my lose was due to a defect, thus, sent me a new controller and placed my typhoon h plus on back order which has been 10 months ago. Since, then all communication has stopped on behalf of Yuneec
I'm curious why it stopped when it saw you. Wouldn't it try to go around you/the obstacle? Massive drift. I have noticed that Yuneec drones seem to have a lot of drift. I just got myself a slightly used H Plus. I wasn't willing to pay the full $1800 for it. Anyway, I am curious about the gimbal dampeners. It seems that it sags quite a bit to the point that it causes the rubber dampers to kink and fold. Also the center rubber dust shield seems to not have a way to secure itself to the top plate. Is this what you experience? Also, how are you charging the batteries? I also have a Typhoon H (non Plus) and I was able to get a balance adapter to use on my third part smart charger from HiTEC the X2 so I could charge to STORAGE voltage. Plus I can charge 2 batteries at the same time. Is there a way to charge Typhoon H Plus batteries on a smart charger so I can charge multiple at once and charge to STORAGE voltage? Thank you for your tips!
The plus has been a real quandry for me. There aren't many out there. It's hard to find a plus, so most of the pilots who own one are already experienced with it. Is there something specific that you want covered?
Jeff Sibelius hey bud, thanks for the reply back (love your vids by the way..no fluff). Anyway, I recently bought a plus (now own two and sold my regular H’s) and the c23 is a steep learning curve, just wish I saw some real world tutorials on it. Shooting 4K on the cgo3+ and I had no issues with playback, shooting 4K on c23 and I can barely play it back (I know that’s computer speed issue), so that was weirc..other issues: shooting towards sun on c23 and I get a lot of artifacts and black lines/prop shadows yet when shooting same area with CGO3+ I never got them. I realize now that these issues are mostly due to the 1inch sensor? Just stuff like that would have been nice (and still would) to see beforehand. A video about comparing the two different cameras, what to expect, how to better utilize the c23 and just general knowledge about the settings. Shooting the same settings, and same subjects, on each camera produces vastly different results.
Thanks Jeff. Very informative. Due to my health/cripple issues I am VERY behind on watching and commenting but as soon as I saw this video pop up, I just had to watch. I purchased my H+ in July 2019 after messing around with quite a number of China/BangGood GPS drones. It was to be my first REAL drone. I have had a ball learning about it and still have things to learn. I'm mostly using Venom 7300mAh batteries and have only flown them to the first warning, which on mine happens at just over 18 minutes. After I land, the battery voltage is just right for storage mode so I know I can push them much further but since I have 6 Venom and the 2 OEM batteries, I see no need just yet. I have now flown without OA a few times getting footage for a couple of friends and family members of their property for posterity. Also have been in "Sport" mode a few times just for kicks and both the non safety modes have been a blast. You're correct! This is a BIG honking drone and feels heavy and yet very agile at the same time. I am so far as happy with mine as you sound to be with yours. Hope to see more videos from you on this fun drone.😎👍👍
Hi Jeff, glade you resolved the problems with Yuneec. Say, did Yuneec improve/increase the brightness of the monitor? Mine was useless in the sun. That coupled with the short flight times, relatively short distance and instability is why I unloaded it
Jeff, Can the real sense system be added by the consumer to a typhoon h pro? Or does this have to be done by the factory? Or is it not possible? Thanks Mike
That's great news about your new Typhoon H+. I'd love to own one and look forward to your upcoming reviews on it. I am concerned about Yuneec's customer service though. BBB has them rated worse than Parrot. Your experience along with others has been horrific. When will companies learn that you need not only a good product, but that it must be supported with superior customer service? That combination makes for a truly successful company. It's hard to fail when you have a sterling reputation. When you don't, well, history teaches us the outcome.
I really hope they're learning that lesson now. My first impression of the drone was that it was rock solid, really great. But if people don't have confidence it doesn't matter how good the drone is.
I don't - I almost never use OA. In my first flight I was testing it only because this was a systems test flight, and found it nonfunctional. I could have kept the drone without it, but I can't really fly a drone with a failure in its safety system under my part 107. Once I discovered it, I had to do something about it.
Video quality with the h + looks good. I can't wait to get mine in the air. I'm ready your video was really good. I've had a q500. It lost gpS send it to yuneek they told me it was un reparairable. It did crash. Yuneek customer service suck. I will try finding u on Facebook.
That term works too - the Plus goes a long way past where you expect it to. The first time I flew it, literally, I thought I was having a flyaway because it went so far beyond where I thought it would. Scared the hell out of me LOL
