What the Hell Happened to Jeff Sibelius??? A few months ago I disappeared from UA-cam. Did I die? Become a monk? Join the French Foreign Legion? In this video I will explain what has gone on since January, 2024, and talk about what I hope will take place in the future . . . I just have one more hurdle to overcome.
I appreciate that, Steve. I knew that many of you would respond in a supportive way, and as difficult as my situation is, I can't tell you how helpful that has been. In a way I've actually been very fortunate. My wife has been amazing in her support, a real rock. My boss has also been terrific, and the team I work with has stepped in to handle work I would normally have done. And the subscribers here who have been aware of my situation through my Facebook page have also been extremely supportive. I've also heard from people through Facebook, friends from the present day all the way back to ones I worked with in the Air Force 35-40 years ago - all the way back to high school, even. I even got nice and supportive messages from both of my ex-wives LOL! So, as difficult as this all has been, there have been some very gratifying moments as well.
Dang Jeff, I'm so sorry to hear about all of your health issues. I was just thinking about you the other day thinking I needed to text you to see how you've been. I hope this all gets resolved for you quick and easy my friend. Let me know if you need anything !
Hey Andre - thanks for your note. In mid-January I was going to see if you wanted to get together for some flying, and then things kinda went crazy on me. I'm looking forward to the time when I can get back out there again. I don't have a great deal of hope that it will resolve easy LOL but I hope it goes quickly. This has gone for so long . . . I appreciate your offer and if I need some help I'll give you a holler. Say hi to your bride and daughter for me, and I'll get an update posted - via Monique or my son, very likely - after I've gone through the procedure. If it looks like I can get out of the house for a flight or two, I'll give you a holler!
Hey, brother, it's a long road ahead for me unfortunately. I need open heart surgery to deal with the blockages. I was hoping for stents or something less invasive, but no such luck. Still waiting to talk to the surgeon to set the date for that. I did pick up a Mavic Mini 4K and I hope to do a first look video before I go back to the hospital. I should be able to fly this weekend if the weather forecast proves to be accurate. We shall see.
@@JeffSibelius I've been pretty lucky myself, probably average save for some oddities like sweating too much, which can be very embarrassing in public. Mentally, I'm a basket case - brains are incredibly complex and mine has been assaulted slightly (mostly by hitting concrete with it). But really mate, I don't enjoy seeing anyone poorly. Except maybe for a few politicians I could think of.
Hey! I am doing ok ... I'm set for my surgery on 6-25, so hopefully I will be doing better after that. Hey, if you want to get together to fly before then, send me a note at websiteauthor@gmail.com...
I was one of those who wondered "what happened to Jeff" I not only enjoy your videos, but you as a person. I am so sorry to hear of these issues. I'm not the most religious person, but will surely pray for a fast recovery. I know you will get the support from your viewers to keep your site active. God bless my good friend.
Hi Chas - I knew I would hear from you even before I published this video. You've always been an amazing supporter of the channel and a good friend as well. I appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers . . . until January, I didn't realize how impactful they could be. There were a few dark days in January and reading the messages I received, from people I worked with as far back as the 1980s even, really meant a great deal at those times. Thanks again, and I will try to keep people updated (myself or Monique or Ryan) on how this progresses.
Jeff, I have gone through part of what you are having. In 1992 I had 6 by-passes, and I am still going. By-pass surgery is not open-heart surgery because the grafts are placed on the outside of the heart. If you have valve repair that is open heart. I wish you the best and put yourself in the hands of God, the ultimate healer. It has worked for me. If I listen to my wife I have to stay around until I am at least 155. My thoughts are with you. BIG JIM
Jim, I really appreciate the information you shared about your own personal experiences. I'm confused by the open heart vs. bypass question . . . my cardiologist has used both terms, almost interchangeably. I guess I'll get more clarity on my situation next week when I meet with the surgeon. 6 bypasses - wow! I didn't even know you could have that many. Crap, now I'm wondering how many they'll do to me . . . yep, I'm a nervous wreck right now. Monique is five years younger than me, so she's really expecting me to stick around a long time. If I have more years like 2024, I'm going to end up letting her down LOL. I really do appreciate your kind words and thoughts, Jim.
unfortunately, the plan for me is open heart surgery. They're talking about a triple bypass, possibly a valve replacement and possibly an ablation. I'll know more when I return to the surgeon for a final pre-op visit. 😒
Hi Dave - thanks for your best wishes. It's been pretty awful this year . . . I can't wait to get thru this so I can get back to making videos. I even bought a Pocket 3 for when I'm shooting more vlog-styled situations. Can't wait to get there.
Hi Jeff You have been through the mill. Your Power director video's have helped me use the programme and use it to its full potential. Take things easy my friend Good luck for the future. Yours Malcolm in York. England.
Thank you, Malcom. I appreciate your best wishes and your thoughts on the PowerDirector videos. I've got more PD videos planned, whenever I am able to do them. They may come before the drone videos, actually, because I may be unable to fly for longer than just sitting at my computer. We shall see!
Thank you, Mike. Prayers are good. Best wishes and thoughts are too. At this point I'd even take animal sacrifices. :-) Seriously, it's been terrific reading all the comments like yours. You and everyone else have been a great help today.
Good luck, Jeff. Hope things work out. My daughter had open-heart surgery and she was out the hospital in four days. I want to say it's probably not as scary as you might think, but I'm not the one having the surgery... But from the surgeries I have had, I know you're not recovered even when you think you are. Take it REAL easy.
this is extremely encouraging to hear. I've been at work since 4 a.m. today because I had a nightmare about this and couldn't go back to sleep. So you're right, the thought of all this is eating me up. My wife has been wonderfully supportive, but she can be very . . . blunt when talking about all this, and she got me pretty upset this morning with things she said. After everything I've already gone through, my nerves are already frayed - and that's before the upcoming procedure. I will do as you say and take it as easy as I can. I understand they try to push you into getting up and moving after this. No sure how cooperative I will be LOL
Jeff, sorry to hear about your health difficulties. I am about your age and I have some of my own. Best to you and hope these issues will resolve for you!
Hi Peter - thanks for your thoughts. I guess it's something about this age that triggers all the maladies . . . or maybe this is when the sins of the past decide to catch up with us LOL. Sorry to hear that you're dealing with health issues as well - Hope your problems clear up soon!
I appreciate your best wishes, and I'm really happy to hear that the videos have been helpful. I really hope that I'll be able to put more of them together soon!
I appreciate that! You guys continuing to watch the videos helps to keep my channel going as I work through all this. I will try to keep everyone informed after my surgery and when I can get back to doing videos.
Mr. Jeff, I’m glad to see you are doing a little better and I hope and pray you make a full recovery after your surgery. I know you have family and friends that will support you during this difficult time but know your drone family will support you too. I live nearby in Sachse Tx and if I can be of any assistance let me know.
I really appreciate that, sniper. The comments people have posted here have been really wonderful . . . I'm going through a tough time right now, and getting the great messages like yours is a real pick-me-up. LOVE hearing that my videos helped you on your way to a part 107. It's very cool to learn I've had a positive impact on others. It's so easy to think of internet people as names on a screen. So many people do just that . . . that's part of the reason so many people are so hateful online when they'd never say those things to someone's face. I have found the people here to be 99% friendly and genuine, and that's very gratifying. I love the fact that you're close by. I'll keep you in mind if I need help or could use a visitor . . . after I get past this, let's go flying. I LOVE flying with viewers. It's a real treat when I get to meet folks and put some drones in the air.
I will let you know, Horace. It may be a while as I don't know how long I will be laid up. If you want to reach me while I am out, drop me a note at jeff@landandairphotos.com ...

Chin up my friend. It must be hard to discuss your personal struggles on the Internet. Just know there are many folks, that you never met, who are in your corner. Videos can wait. Just take care of yourself.
I really appreciate that, Kim. I'm a big privacy guy so putting out something like this is definitely out of character. When I first went into the hospital my wife was posting things on Facebook. By the time I realized this, the horse was already out of the barn, so to speak. LOL But I saw by the responses that people really did appreciate learning about what happened, and they were all so supportive, that I decided to open up about my experiences. That made it easier for me to do this video. And the responses I've received, like yours, only validates my decision to do so. And, as you said, it's very encouraging to think that people all over the place really are, as you say, in my corner.
