Great video. I was able to follow along and replace my transmission in about 2 hours going very methodically and rewinding many times. You made the process as simple as it can possibly be. In particular, strapping the mower the way you suggest was perfect. I don’t have a sturdy shelf in garage but a nearby tree did the trick. Thank you very much.
@@John-rq3xn Thanks for commenting! Glad to hear you were able to follow my directions in replacing your transmission. I greatly appreciate you supporting my channel. This coming winter, I plan on posting more timemaster videos.
This is the best video I have found for replacing the Timemaster transmission. You use good lighting and excellent camera angles and minimal blocking of the view. You also had a good organized plan for the order of removal. Nice work. Replacing my transmission after 9 years use.
Thanks for commenting! Greatly appreciate the positive feedback. Congrats on the 9 years. Hope your new transmission will last another 9 years. I’m lucky to get 9 months. Although we do work our timemasters hard. I would like to find a rebuild kit for those used transmissions. I have a pile of them sitting on a shelf collecting dust.
@@BillyGoatLawnService I imagine a look - see to find out what is failing could lead a solution. I haven't looked into my replaced transmission yet. With the noise mine was making there has to be some evidence of what went wrong. Now a days with 3d printers and common access to CNC mills you may be able to come up with a design to replace parts. Heck there might be a new line of business for you. Smart that you saved the old transmissions. The fact that the transmission and shaft appears to be in good shape may be an indicator that failure wasn't catastrophic so it might just be a single part failure. Keep up the good work.
I have had mine for 6 years, I wash it off after using it and under the mower, change the oil , blades yearly. Right now I have it in the garage doing maintenance on it and my other lawn equipment for next Spring 2025.
Always enjoy the shop videos Bill and I must say you make it look simple but after 4 I guess you've mastered it!.Also like how it's done with basic tools I'm seeing them pop up on FB so it's just a matter of time before I spring for one✔️💯
Always appreciate your comments! These type of videos can be a bit boring but I’m sure if you ever get a used timemaster, you’ll be replacing the transmission at some point.
Great job bill! Video comes at a good time too. My transmission isn’t sending any power to the right wheel. Haven’t looked at it yet to see what’s going on but after 5 years of abuse it may be time to replace mine
Yo yo yo. What up bill. Great video. Always learn something when I watch your channel. Been very lucky with original 30, haven’t had to do this yet, (knock on wood) but obviously….. I know it’s coming lol
We have several yards with steep hills. Our timemasters definitely get a workout. The transmissions just don’t hold up. Now I have a stock pile of old transmissions sitting on the shelf. Would be nice if they had rebuild kits. Figured I would make this video to help pay for my next transmission. lol.
Have to do this on my original. Before doing it I wanted to turn to the man himself to make sure. Can you just replace the bearings on the side? I’m getting a grinding noise when pushing it when it’s off and when it’s running and you first push the bar, a quick squeal. What do you think bill??
The grinding noise is actually the both rear wheel drive gears worn out. A new set of wheels should stop or at least lessen the grinding. From my experience, the quick sequel is coming from the transmission not the drive belt. Not really a big deal if you still have good traction.
I keep wondering if there is a way to change the gear oil or grease inside it to make it last longer. I haven’t looked into yet but wondering if that’s possible ??
Thanks for commenting! I’ve been wondering as well. I need to figure out something. This transmission is already worn out before 100 hours of use. I will drill a hole in the casing and replace the gear oil. I will do a video of the results. Wish me luck.
Thanks for commenting! These transmissions are fine for residential use but we use them commercially. We mow several properties with steep terrain. Not sure why but the transmission tend to slip to the point where there is no traction. At some point, I will make a video of the gears inside the transmission.

That is awesome! Taking care of your equipment really make a difference. It will last for years.
I use 10-30 Lucas oil with zine, in my lawn mowers, portable generator, ride lawn tractor and 1982 Toyato Celica/ 1990 chevy suburban
Best video for this 💪🏾

Definitely seems like your transmission is shot and needs to be replaced. Keep in mind, it will take at least a half hour to replace.
Some really good tips I like the strapped mower when I did mine was a pain to get off and on. ..

Do you have video on change the brake with replacement parts you need
I currently don’t have a video on the brake. Possibly I can do one soon.

Excellent thanks so much....
What happens to these transmissions?
Do they strip gears, run dry on lube, or other?
Seems like a sturdy unit.

@@BillyGoatLawnService Please do. I am looking forward to seeing exactly why they fail.
Is 560 hrs on original engine
We bought two new timemasters in 2021. Both have over 500 hours of use in the past 3 years. The engines are still running strong (knock on wood).
Did the failed timemaster sequel at all?
