  • Say goodbye to mushy or crunchy rice! This method for cooking rice in the Instant Pot creates perfect rice EVERY SINGLE TIME!
    To Make Instant Pot Rice;
    Rinse rice very well in a mesh strainer and add to the inner pot of the Instant Pot.
    Use a 1:1 ratio (1 cup water to 1 cup rice or 2 cups water to 2 cups rice).
    Place lid on Instant Pot and be sure vent knob is pointed towards sealed.
    Cook on High Pressure:
    3 minutes for white rice
    22 minutes for long-grain brown rice
    24 minutes for short grain brown rice
    Once cook time has elapsed, let the pressure release naturally and then fluff rice with a fork.

    Thank you for the video. Can you pressure cook rice with meat on a rack? The little rack comes with the pressure cooker. I pressure cooked salmon on top of my rice.

    • @AMindFullMom
      @AMindFullMom  2 роки тому

      As long as the cooking time is the same as the rice, absolutely! You don't want a large discrepancy in timing or the meat will be over/undercooked. I often cook rice in pot in pot over dishes like Mongolian Beef or Sweet and Sour Chicken. Here are those videos to see: Chicken (ua-cam.com/video/EK1FV1k6-6w/v-deo.html) Beef: ua-cam.com/video/MYDz_hVa9uA/v-deo.html

    Mine is awful and I'm following your exact instructions. I have the instapot ultra and the rice ALWAYS comes out sticky and yes I rinse it 3 or 4 times until the water is not cloudy. I end up using it in wraps and fried rice because I can't eat it on its own.

    Thanks for this video! What if you're cooking your rice with other things at the same time, say, jambalaya, with a can of diced tomatoes with their juice and added chicken broth? How do you determine how much liquid to use so the rice doesn't come out mushy?

    • @AMindFullMom
      @AMindFullMom  Рік тому +1

      I recommend a 1:1 ratio of dried rice to liquid. So I would drain off the juice from tomatoes measure how much liquid that is and then add chicken broth to make up the needed liquid.

      I have personally not used minute rice, but here are the instructions from Minute Rice themselves: Use equal amounts of rice and liquid. Stir. Use the “Manual” setting with High Pressure. Set timer for 1 minute. When cooking time has elapsed use the “Quick Release” to vent all the steam. Remove lid and fluff rice. Serve.

    Please tell me why you suggest the same 1 to 1 rice to water ratio for white rice and for brown? The only other method I've seen uses 1 to 1.25 cups of rice to water ratio for brown rice.

    • @AMindFullMom

      Hi Denise. I have found that the Instant Pot seals in the moisture perfectly. Whenever I increase the liquid the rice turns out mushy. I test my recipes extensively in several models before sharing.

    In the description, "Use 1:1 ratio (1 cup water to 1 cup rice or 1 cups water to 2 cups rice)." Is this a typo, right? It should be 2 cups water to 2 cups rice? I'm not trying to be pedantic; I'm truly terrible at making rice in the instant pot and wonder if I should be using 1 less cup of water. Thanks!

    • @AMindFullMom

      I recommend never using the pre-set buttons. For rice, it is actually not typically high pressure and the machine doesn't know what type of rice you are cooking. Using manual or pressure cook and controlling yourself is always better.
