Great video! I have made a whole chicken in my instant pot from some of the older videos I've seen on here, but I like that you made yours straight and to the point. 6 mins per pound is what I was looking for. Thanks!
The best part of the video was her actually explaining what buttons to push. ☺️I appreciate you. This was only my third dish from the instant pot. ❤ tasted great!
I made gravy with the water & drippings left in the bottom of the pot! Thanks so much for this video! The chicken turned out great and everyone enjoyed it :)
After watching this video time to hit the subscribe button and the thumbs up. I need more recipes for my instant pot besides beef stew. Have to try this recipe. Thanks
Just tried this recipe this morning and not only did it produce one of the tastiest and juciest chickens I have ever eaten but I have over 1 litre gravy from a 2kg bird, I am astounded, once again, thankyou!
@@AMindFullMom It is now day 4 of the chicken and I have just had the last few slices for breakfast and it was still as juicy and tasty as the day it was made. I never craved chicken quite like this before. This will definatley be a regular from now on. 😍
I tried this today since I was given a free chicken and I've had success with another recipe video you posted. I had never even cooked a whole chicken before, and it turned out perfectly! Thank you!
I made this for supper tonight. It was awesome!! I used your rub recipe and was pleasantly surprised. It does remind me of the rotisserie chicken you can buy at the grocery store. I made it exactly according to your instructions. I did give some extra time because it felt a little frozen inside. Great recipe!! Thanks Kristen 😊
You sure look great and seem very energetic. I know you said you have a thing going on with your health. If I had your energy I would be sooo happy. Enjoyed your video and thank you so much. Keep going girl!!!
SO very helpful! I just (saved up) and got an Instant Pot, on the advice of my nutritionist, but I have been super-intimidated trying to start cooking with it. :-( It did not come with clear written instructions (I'm old-school and need the ancient artifact of PAPER! lol), but rather with the very important, very complex safety instructions. Actually pretty much scared me, lol. All this to say, I am very glad to have discovered your channel and will be watching many more of your recipe how-to videos. Thanks, Mind Full Mom!
This was awesome. I was missing thyme and paprika but it still came out awesome. Also, I added some carrots and potatoes too. I squeezed the lemons that were cooked in the cavity over the left over chicken which Mami and I will enjoy tonight. Thank you so much for your awesome recipe!
Love your video. Just subscribed and hit like button. I am a beginner for using Instant Pot. I am going try cook whole chicken. It is a whole chicken but I cut out the back. I am not too sure size of the chicken but it average sz chicken. Since back is missing what will be a good number to set. Thanks
Welcome! I am so glad you found my channel. It is hard for me to estimate timing, not knowing the size. Average could be 3 or 6 pounds. I would start with 20 minutes on high pressure with a natural pressure release. If not done, add 5 minutes.
I watched both your videos, and I got so much out of it as I am considering purchasing one and was not able to figure out I should get a mini 3 qt or 6qt Given I want to cook whole chickens and soups, I can freeze up for later and not able to find info on what size post is needed to fit a whole chicken in which is the cheapest way to buy it, and it was interesting how just cooking chicken breasts would be done in it. The tip of waiting and letting the pressure release on its own was appreciated. Thanks for the seasoning recipe I wrote that down. So it's a 6 qt pot for up to a 4 lb chic. And I would probably cook it in chic broth, too. The pineapple btw has an enzyme called Bromelain known for helping in digestion because it aids in breaking down proteins which is what meat muscle is. You can buy it in powder in the seasoning aisle of your grocery store like McCormick Meat Tenderizer along with any other spices you want to combine and rub in without adding the pineapple flavor. Another tenderizer is derived from Papya called Papain, which is said to be a great tenderizer too found in Durkee Meat Tenderizer. The recommendation I found is 1 tsp per pound of meat and probably should sit for approximately.15 minutes to work its magic before cooking as heat destroys enzymes. I also learned Garlic, onion, and citrus as in lemon and oranges, which I understand now why you stuffed the cavity of the chicken with it, also wine and vinegar-type marinades work great too but need longer as in 30 minutes to no more than 2 hrs in the refrigerator to work. Baking soda is an odd one but has to be washed off the meat thoroughly before cooking or it will taste weird. Buttermilk is one I've heard is good for fried chicken as a drench, not sure what other application it has.
Hey there! I always recommend a 6-quart. Most recipes are designed for it, it cooks more evenly, and easily can make a whole chicken (you really can't in a 3-quart.)
It may be hard to fit both a whole chicken and potatoes in the instant pot. If you can, Iwould suggest keeping the potatoes whole or cut in half so they don't overcook during the time the chicken cooks.
You absolutely can, but it is a bit on the saltier side. I typically discard and use the bones to make fresh stock: amindfullmom.com/instant-pot-chicken-stock/
No, natural pressure release means to do NOTHING after the cooking time has elapsed. After 10 minutes, you can open the valve. I hope that clarifies things for you :)
@AMindFullMom thank you!!! so easy! and the chicken turned out so moist!!! ready for my husband to catch a cold because I'll be doing the chicken for chicken noodle soup this way. have a great day ❤️
Water temperature varies, depending on the time of year. We live in a warm climate and the water, from the well, doesn’t come out “cold”. It’s always around 88° F. Are you saying I should be adjusting my Instant Pot cooking time?
That is a great question. So yes, I would either suggest adding 2 ice cubes to take the temperature down a bit or add 2 minutes to the the TOTAL cooking time.
Why would you use the Instant Pot to cook a chicken and then start up the oven to broil or roast the chicken??? You already have the residual heat. Pick one!!! Can someone please send me a link to someone actually using the "ROAST" mode on the Instant Pot to roast a chicken? Thank you
The roast mode works the same way as the manual/pressure cook--it is just a fancy preset. You do not have to broil the skin--that is optional and you can use an air fryer lid if you have one to crisp the skin.
Good recipe - for those outside the US and Canada, "broiler" is a grill; a cup US is 240ml, a US tablespoon is 14.78ml, a US teaspoon is 4.9ml... why all these odd measures is a bafflement. 😂
Why this doesn’t have a million views is beyond me
Thank you 🙏
You are so kind! Thank you!

After you discard the skin, which had all the spices on it, is there any flavor left in the underlying chicken itself?
I find it to be very flavorful, as do other reviewers!
Looks yummy.
Can chicken broth be used instead of the water?
Yes, but I find it to not add any flavor, so better to jsut use water.

Can you cook potatoes in bottom for mashed potatoes while the chicken is cooking? I'm thinking those chicken juices would be tasty in the potatoes.

What on earth is a 'broiler'?
A broil function on traditional ovens.
