To everyone’s point, Kevin Feige did say that MCU phase 4 was gonna be the girl’s phase basically so women won’t be held accountable, they’ll always be the bestest at everything, they’ll be infallible, and character traits that are “toxic” in men is great and admirable in women. I suspect that was added specifically because Taika has gone on record saying that he will only return for one more film if Hemsworth also returns, so the MCU is trying to forcibly make sure that Hemsworth stays.
My theory is Christian Bale started acting the role straight like in the prologue, but as the filming and reshoots went on he slowly realized how shit the film was and tried to adjust his acting to match the weird weirdass goofy tone. Edited all together we end up with a chaotic mess of different versions of the character from scene to scene. THIS IS LITERALLY THE DIRECTOR'S JOB. To watch the actors like a hawk and make sure they're keeping a consistent thru-line. It just feels like Taika didn't give a fuck and I feel bad for Bale being neglected like that.
I imagine Taiki as that one guy that keeps telling you to 'chill!' 'Don't be so serious' 'whats with all the long faces' when you're trying to bring something serious to his attention, only to explode and scream at people when he realises they're 6 months behind schedule 🙄

I suspect that it was actually a result of the film being cut down and hastily reshot. The film is exactly 1 hour and 59 minutes long and cost $250 million _excluding marketing;_ I haven't seen a runtime that close to 2 hours exactly and a budget that big on a film that isn't reflective of the budget since Justice League. My guess is that he acted the role straight in all the original footage, then the film got cut down and new material was inserted to bridge the gaps, and in the new material, he was told to be goofy to be more like the villain in Thor: Ragnarok.
Something else that wasn't touched on: this film renders the sequel hooks from Endgame pointless. When I saw Endgame and saw Thor make Valkyrie "king" and leave with the Guardians, I just assumed, "Oh, they must have plans for these characters that require this setup. If they didn't have plans then Thor would just return to the throne." And yet, the film we have now doesn't do anything interesting with this setup. You could rewrite the film with Thor as king and the Guardians absent and the only significant thing you'd have to adjust is who gives the "Better to have loved and lost," advice.
This absolutely would have been the case in any other Phase. Now the MCU is treated like Star Wars. No plan. The barest minimum of explanation when things have to be adjusted away from how they were previously set up. It's a fuckin mess.
That seems to be a trend with Phase 4 now. Falcon honorably takes the shield and promises to do his best. Next thing he's in now he's giving up the shield. Wanda looking at peace in Endgame at Tony's funeral. Next thing she's in, psycho bitch who hasn't let go. Thor finding a new sense of purpose with the Guardians. Next thing he's in they essentially ditch him cause he's annoying.
@@jcore0981 I don't think those are fair comparisons. Sam and Wanda having negative feelings come up later makes sense. Sam wouldn't want to seem ungrateful to Steve in the moment, and sometimes it takes a while to process feelings. And both their shows were predicated on the changes in their lives and how that affects them. A more apt comparison is the Doctor Strange movies. The first one has a stinger showing that Mordu wants to suck the magic out of other wizards, and the sequel barely acknowledges him and tells a completely unrelated story.

We didn't even get a scene of him using thr shield and maybe failing or something to justify his reluctance. He just decides to give it up.
Apparently, they planned for Guardians 3 before Love and Thunder. So when GotG 3 got pushed back they kept Love and Thunder where it was so now that hook is pointless. Though Thor could still pop back up in Guardians 3 and everyone just pretend Love and Thunder didn't happen.
Thor transforming the children was mandated by Feige, because the future for Marvel is in streaming. At any point in the future, someone can now be accepted as Thor based on a single line: "He granted me these powers." There can now be multiple "Thor's" on technically competing programs, and they can swap actors at will. This is true for Black Widow, who is not code named "Black Widow", anymore, but part of a network. Same with the variants of Loki, the juice of Black Panther, the gauntlets of Ms Marvel (there are others) and the ubiquity of Stark tech. None of it makes sense outside of the meta, because it's not intended to.

(Thor Odinson was currently "unworthy" after developing doubts fighting Gorr the god-butcher, in a terribly written contrivance.) After explaining comics to 4 women who clearly didn't care, he declared "she's not going to be LADY THOR, or Ms Thor, or Female Thor; she is fully Mighty Thor!" The point is to tell comics fans that she wasn't just a side character, or an alternate universe gimmick, or any other ways that comics traditionally did these kinds of switcharounds without messing with canon. The writer wanted to steal the mantle of Thor and give it to a woman... even though Thor is not a mantle. Others had held Mjollner before, and there were routes to do these kinds of stories without wrecking the rules; but they weren't interested in having a "lesser" female character, they insisted that Lady Thor was JUST AS GOOD as actual Thor Odinson. Marvel kept a running argument with its hardcore fans about this for years. Calling her "Lady Thor" was MISOGYNY and BELITTLING WOMEN, etc. It even comes up in the comics a few times, and Jane smashes the bad guy with grrl power and a stolen hammer. You guys did a pretty good job avoiding the politics of this movie, but this is a direct self-righteous reference to a culture war artifact that was dumb when it happened, and is even stupider today.
I get that argument about Misogyny if we were talking about, say, Captain America. That's not a person but a persona so if a woman takes it up, she will still be Captain America not 'Lady Cap'(honestly, even this name sounds badass to me). Thor, on the other hand, is a person's name and also a moniker given to Mjolnir wielders. Unlike the comics, when we already have an In-Universe 'Thor' existing alongside, it feels weird to call her Thor too. I don't feel this has anything to do with sexism or belittlement.

Guns and Roses 'Sweet Child of mine' That song gets blasted in Love and Thunder and I think Taika wants us to think it has a purpose other than the fact it's an incredible piece of music. The child in the song is talking about the songwriters girlfriend at the time how he was completely enamored with. Highschool sweetheart style. This was the honeymoon phase to end all honeymoon phases. That was at the time. The songwriter was so enchanted that he threatened to kill himself if she didn't marry him. Needless to say a marriage built on that doesn't tend to last long. The song was hopeful but with hindsight and meta knowledge, just emphasizes the foolish nature of man to overlook a lot because of uncontrolled optimism. 1. Child of Mine could've just been used because it's a good song and the rest of what I'm saying, isn't a worthwhile criticism. 2. If the child part is refering to Gors daughter, then they completely misunderstood the song. Either way this is a random person to Thor. Thor is reminded of a calm and serene childhood, looking at someone who died, and came back to life to find their father is no more. This child is a stranger to him. There are no find memories to look back on. 3. If it's refering to Jane. Millenniums old god finds his first love and most potent love in a women that has lived about as long as he has taken morning dumps. Cool bro. Even more reasons to think Thor isn't actually that old. It does fit with the song that Thor is deeply lovestruck over Jane and maybe Taika isn't aware of the events surrounding that song. The reason I'm harping on this is because I UA-cam searched the song and in its description at the very top it mentions its appearance in Love and Thunder. Coincidentally that song made an appearance in an excellent movie called the Big Short. Difference being as you learn more about the song, it begins to make more sense why they put it in that one scene down to playing a specific segment of the lyrics at one particular moment. It's a conversation between a hedge fund owner betting that the housing market will crash and a Bank Manager bragging about the booming success of the housing market whilst unknowingly describing a massive bubble his types created that ultimately destroyed the US economy. Everyone except for a few people are blissfully unaware of what's happening. This unbreakable image of a perfect money making machine that will create billionaires out of everyone is instilled to so many minds. The child which provides them a bright future, that blinds them to the massive sxxtstorm that's inbound. Fond memories of making millions. I get that music choices can have massively subjectice takes that can seem solid but there's a level of thought that seems to go into one over another and supporting evidence to make one opinion better then another. TL;DR Go watch the Big Short. Incrediblly funny movie. Star studded cast. Little bit of education.
How much you love a person and thus miss them has little to do with how much time you spend with them. You can remember a single day for the rest of your life if something significant happened that left a deep impression on you. That being said, all Jane did was introduce him to Earth essentially, so she wouldn't fall under that category.
SHAZAM had a part where a bunch of kids get superpowers. Thing is it tied into the film's story with Billy accepting help from his foster family. Also the kids were turned into adults and each was only given a part of Billy's powers not a full set. (One kid got superspeed, another flight, and so on.)
"Eat my hammer" got me thinking about all the line Scott Pilgrim says in his movie when he takes out the villains: "Open your eyes, maybe you'll see." "You used to be a ve-gone, but now you will begone!" "Yes, you are blowing up... RIGHT NOW!" The lines are said in specific situations as though Scott's coming up with them on the fly. He's also characterized as being awkward and dweeby in the movie, so it tracks that his one-liners sound like they could use a redraft. They're also a lot funnier and... Man, why am I comparing these movies? It's just not fair.
Imagine if Zeus decided that something did need to be done so he revealed the existence of this Eternity place but it's extremely difficult to get to and Thor has to team up with Zeus son Hercules to find it and Hercules suffers from many of the same character effects Thor used to like arrogance and Thor has to help him realize the importance of humility bringing Thor's arc to a satisfying close because now not only has he changed but he is teaching others to change as well. He finishes realizing he finally truly understands what it means to be a leader and that's how he finds peace within himself instead of meditating on a rock somewhere....

Needed to see more of Gorrs actual god killing and reduce the comedy every other scene. Taika said there’s no directors cut as the audience need to accept the film for what it is. IMO he needs to take a long break from big budget franchises.
Watch “Thor: The Godbutcher motion comic” and “Thor Godbomb” on the Russian Comicbook UA-cam channel. It’s Gorr’s origin comic and it’s pretty good. It’s fully voice-acted and really well done.

I swear to you the way that Thor has represented post-Thor 2 he's more or less Goku-like in that he is being portrayed as a big clown...like Goku in the Anime. I wouldn't be surprised if this was a repurposed outline for a dRagonball live action movie from Disney. Just like the third Star Wars sequel it is paced like a Dragonball episode, going places to find a McGuffin, making wishes, etc. etc. I certainly hope that Toei takes one look at this movie and decides to devote more time to their 2D animated Dragonball adventures rather than sign off on a third failed live action movie. And yes, there was a live action Dragonball movie before Evolution that was made in China/Hong Kong. If Love and Thunder is any indication a Disney Dragonball movie would make Evolution look Shakespearean in comparison.

About people laughing at stuff that isn't funny, Ive been calling that the Popular Kid Effect for years. It's something I observed when I was in school ages and ages ago, mostly in junior high/high school. It's not actually what is being said but WHO is saying it. I've heard a unpopular kid saying something funny, not get any response then a popular kid says the same thing and gets a huge laugh. Similarly with an unpopular kid saying something NOT funny and there's no reaction. Give a popular kid that same comment and it gets a big laugh. In the case of Bore: Hate and Rumbling, but Waititi is the popular kid. The same unfunny shit could be in another movie (even a different MCU movie) but since it's Waititi, it's an almost Pavlovian response in the laughter. It's even the same outside of the films themselves. Doesn't matter what ridiculously dumb shit Waititi says, it's the funniest thing in the world, he's a comedic genius, etc.
You know on the subject of whether or not the MCU should have developed a cure for cancer, I recently rewatched Iron Man 3 (its still bad but it was better than I remember actually, leagues better than phase 4) Aldrich Killian the villain of the movie created the cure for everything it just hadn't been perfected yet, was super dangerous since people dosed with it have a possibility of exploding and thus was easily weaponized. The MCU forgot about it just like how everyone forgets about Iron Man 3.
Oh yeah additionally at the end of the movie Tony figures out how to reverse the Extremis. To cure anyone of anything you could just inject them with Extremis so they could heal then reverse it before they blow up.
The BEST example of what they mention about Christian Bale as "old guard" who know how to act is the scene at The end where Gorr is about to die in front of his daughter, and can see literal emotion in Bale's acting while the daughter (in front of her dying father) just does :-|

Does holding the spear of Odin bestow the power of Odin to someone? I would have liked Hela to have come into possession of the spear and THAT is why she has a power exceeding that of Thor... then Thor could have taken the spear and had the dwarf forge that into something sweet! Also if Thanos had just made it to eternity and made his wish, he could have wished his planet back into existence but with only half the people there. Its script absolutely qualifies as a work of “and then” fiction written in crayon, and not helping matters was the fact that most of the set pieces were shot for the trailers before they wrote why it even “needed” to be a globe-trotting adventure in the first place. “How does everybody find the Matrix of Leadership? I’m not sure if they mentioned it, but my first thought about a wish that could do anything at the center of the universe… couldn’t Thanos have just gone for that instead of gathering the infinity stones? Or even if they addressed the idea that Thanos did think of that and dismissed it in canon, what about the idea of wishing for the stones? That would arguably the best move he could do, get the wish so no one else could use it to stop him and get the stones so no one could reverse it. It’s a checkmate from his perspective.
Weirdly enough, I religiously watch the EFAP Movies. When I struggle to sleep the Resident Evil saga is a soothing balm. However, I have always avoided Dracula Untold. 1:12:00 Sorry my dudes, I usually agree completely with all your arguments, but I must retort here. It's extremely reasonable that Jane threw Storm Breaker away (it is not reasonable that they conveniently forget that Gorr is probably after the hammer to begin with, but that's another point). In that moment, she tried to get the hammer as far away from Gorr as possible, then fight Gorr. Thor still has his electric powers, Valkyrie her bolt and Jane Mjolnir. MY problem is that when Thor gains his Storm breaker again, he fights off the monsters, but forgets to throw the hammer away again after the fight, allowing Gorr to take it. Disconnecting Thor from his hammer would have been worth it to prevent Gorr from getting Storm breaker. Point is, I don't think it was an illogical decision, it's one of the few good ones they make in this garbage film.
She threw it away from herself. Gorr can teleport between shadows using the Necrosword and they are currently in the SHADOW realm. No matter where she throws it or how fast it is moving, it is always within arm's length of Gorr in this place. Throwing it away simply prevents our heroes from holding on to it and protecting it. Instead of wasting time fighting this losers, he should simply teleport to wherever Stormbreaker is thrown. It is a sub zero IQ move and should cause instant victory for Gorr if the people in charge of making this movie didn't also suffer from sub-zero IQ.
@@hermannlagrange803 Yeah, I can see how an audience member might miss a detail like that but it's unbelievably absurd that the writers who should be spending days, if not weeks or months, going over this or the characters themselves in the thick of it experiencing every excruciating detail and with plenty of downtime between scenes (that we skip over) to think about their problems would do something so absurd. It would be like someone confronted with a sheer cliff in the middle of the path while hiking and his solution was to throw himself off the cliff to fix it.

My theory is Christian Bale started acting the role straight like in the prologue, but as the filming and reshoots went on he slowly realized how shit the film was and tried to adjust his acting to match the weird weirdass goofy tone. Edited all together we end up with a chaotic mess of different versions of the character from scene to scene.
THIS IS LITERALLY THE DIRECTOR'S JOB. To watch the actors like a hawk and make sure they're keeping a consistent thru-line. It just feels like Taika didn't give a fuck and I feel bad for Bale being neglected like that.

I suspect that it was actually a result of the film being cut down and hastily reshot. The film is exactly 1 hour and 59 minutes long and cost $250 million _excluding marketing;_ I haven't seen a runtime that close to 2 hours exactly and a budget that big on a film that isn't reflective of the budget since Justice League. My guess is that he acted the role straight in all the original footage, then the film got cut down and new material was inserted to bridge the gaps, and in the new material, he was told to be goofy to be more like the villain in Thor: Ragnarok.
Something else that wasn't touched on: this film renders the sequel hooks from Endgame pointless. When I saw Endgame and saw Thor make Valkyrie "king" and leave with the Guardians, I just assumed, "Oh, they must have plans for these characters that require this setup. If they didn't have plans then Thor would just return to the throne." And yet, the film we have now doesn't do anything interesting with this setup. You could rewrite the film with Thor as king and the Guardians absent and the only significant thing you'd have to adjust is who gives the "Better to have loved and lost," advice.
This absolutely would have been the case in any other Phase. Now the MCU is treated like Star Wars. No plan. The barest minimum of explanation when things have to be adjusted away from how they were previously set up. It's a fuckin mess.
That seems to be a trend with Phase 4 now.

@@jcore0981 I don't think those are fair comparisons. Sam and Wanda having negative feelings come up later makes sense. Sam wouldn't want to seem ungrateful to Steve in the moment, and sometimes it takes a while to process feelings. And both their shows were predicated on the changes in their lives and how that affects them.
A more apt comparison is the Doctor Strange movies. The first one has a stinger showing that Mordu wants to suck the magic out of other wizards, and the sequel barely acknowledges him and tells a completely unrelated story.
@@DuneStone6816 The music and acting of that scene is absolutely telling the audience that Sam is honorably taking the shield. There was absolutely no inference that he was hesitant. We didn't even get a scene of him using thr shield and maybe failing or something to justify his reluctance. He just decides to give it up.
Apparently, they planned for Guardians 3 before Love and Thunder. So when GotG 3 got pushed back they kept Love and Thunder where it was so now that hook is pointless. Though Thor could still pop back up in Guardians 3 and everyone just pretend Love and Thunder didn't happen.

Thor transforming the children was mandated by Feige, because the future for Marvel is in streaming. At any point in the future, someone can now be accepted as Thor based on a single line: "He granted me these powers." There can now be multiple "Thor's" on technically competing programs, and they can swap actors at will. This is true for Black Widow, who is not code named "Black Widow", anymore, but part of a network. Same with the variants of Loki, the juice of Black Panther, the gauntlets of Ms Marvel (there are others) and the ubiquity of Stark tech. None of it makes sense outside of the meta, because it's not intended to.
Reading this an image came to my mind: It was the MCU composed of multiple Thors, Widows, Captains, Iron-Men all connected by insane nonsensical storylines into a Cronenbergian monster, with vague outlines of something that may once have been the characters we loved...

In 2014, when Jane Foster was going to be written in as mainline Thor in the comics, the writer went on The View to announce the change. (Thor Odinson was currently "unworthy" after developing doubts fighting Gorr the god-butcher, in a terribly written contrivance.)
After explaining comics to 4 women who clearly didn't care, he declared "she's not going to be LADY THOR, or Ms Thor, or Female Thor; she is fully Mighty Thor!"
The point is to tell comics fans that she wasn't just a side character, or an alternate universe gimmick, or any other ways that comics traditionally did these kinds of switcharounds without messing with canon. The writer wanted to steal the mantle of Thor and give it to a woman... even though Thor is not a mantle. Others had held Mjollner before, and there were routes to do these kinds of stories without wrecking the rules; but they weren't interested in having a "lesser" female character, they insisted that Lady Thor was JUST AS GOOD as actual Thor Odinson.
Marvel kept a running argument with its hardcore fans about this for years. Calling her "Lady Thor" was MISOGYNY and BELITTLING WOMEN, etc. It even comes up in the comics a few times, and Jane smashes the bad guy with grrl power and a stolen hammer.

I get that argument about Misogyny if we were talking about, say, Captain America. That's not a person but a persona so if a woman takes it up, she will still be Captain America not 'Lady Cap'(honestly, even this name sounds badass to me). Thor, on the other hand, is a person's name and also a moniker given to Mjolnir wielders. Unlike the comics, when we already have an In-Universe 'Thor' existing alongside, it feels weird to call her Thor too. I don't feel this has anything to do with sexism or belittlement.

That song gets blasted in Love and Thunder and I think Taika wants us to think it has a purpose other than the fact it's an incredible piece of music.
The child in the song is talking about the songwriters girlfriend at the time how he was completely enamored with. Highschool sweetheart style. This was the honeymoon phase to end all honeymoon phases. That was at the time. The songwriter was so enchanted that he threatened to kill himself if she didn't marry him. Needless to say a marriage built on that doesn't tend to last long. The song was hopeful but with hindsight and meta knowledge, just emphasizes the foolish nature of man to overlook a lot because of uncontrolled optimism.
1. Child of Mine could've just been used because it's a good song and the rest of what I'm saying, isn't a worthwhile criticism.
2. If the child part is refering to Gors daughter, then they completely misunderstood the song. Either way this is a random person to Thor. Thor is reminded of a calm and serene childhood, looking at someone who died, and came back to life to find their father is no more. This child is a stranger to him. There are no find memories to look back on.
3. If it's refering to Jane. Millenniums old god finds his first love and most potent love in a women that has lived about as long as he has taken morning dumps. Cool bro. Even more reasons to think Thor isn't actually that old. It does fit with the song that Thor is deeply lovestruck over Jane and maybe Taika isn't aware of the events surrounding that song.
The reason I'm harping on this is because I UA-cam searched the song and in its description at the very top it mentions its appearance in Love and Thunder. Coincidentally that song made an appearance in an excellent movie called the Big Short. Difference being as you learn more about the song, it begins to make more sense why they put it in that one scene down to playing a specific segment of the lyrics at one particular moment.
It's a conversation between a hedge fund owner betting that the housing market will crash and a Bank Manager bragging about the booming success of the housing market whilst unknowingly describing a massive bubble his types created that ultimately destroyed the US economy. Everyone except for a few people are blissfully unaware of what's happening. This unbreakable image of a perfect money making machine that will create billionaires out of everyone is instilled to so many minds. The child which provides them a bright future, that blinds them to the massive sxxtstorm that's inbound. Fond memories of making millions.
I get that music choices can have massively subjectice takes that can seem solid but there's a level of thought that seems to go into one over another and supporting evidence to make one opinion better then another.

You can remember a single day for the rest of your life if something significant happened that left a deep impression on you. That being said, all Jane did was introduce him to Earth essentially, so she wouldn't fall under that category.

Imagine if Zeus decided that something did need to be done so he revealed the existence of this Eternity place but it's extremely difficult to get to and Thor has to team up with Zeus son Hercules to find it and Hercules suffers from many of the same character effects Thor used to like arrogance and Thor has to help him realize the importance of humility bringing Thor's arc to a satisfying close because now not only has he changed but he is teaching others to change as well. He finishes realizing he finally truly understands what it means to be a leader and that's how he finds peace within himself instead of meditating on a rock somewhere....

Just like the third Star Wars sequel it is paced like a Dragonball episode, going places to find a McGuffin, making wishes, etc. etc. I certainly hope that Toei takes one look at this movie and decides to devote more time to their 2D animated Dragonball adventures rather than sign off on a third failed live action movie. You know on the subject of whether or not the MCU should have developed a cure for cancer, I recently rewatched Iron Man 3 (its still bad but it was better than I remember actually, leagues better than phase 4) Aldrich Killian the villain of the movie created the cure for everything it just hadn't been perfected yet, was super dangerous since people dosed with it have a possibility of exploding and thus was easily weaponized. The MCU forgot about it just like how everyone forgets about Iron Man 3.
Oh yeah additionally at the end of the movie Tony figures out how to reverse the Extremis. To cure anyone of anything you could just inject them with Extremis so they could heal then reverse it before they blow up.

Its script absolutely qualifies as a work of “and then” fiction written in crayon, and not helping matters was the fact that most of the set pieces were shot for the trailers before they wrote why it even “needed” to be a globe-trotting adventure in the first place.

I’m not sure if they mentioned it, but my first thought about a wish that could do anything at the center of the universe… couldn’t Thanos have just gone for that instead of gathering the infinity stones? Or even if they addressed the idea that Thanos did think of that and dismissed it in canon, what about the idea of wishing for the stones? That would arguably the best move he could do, get the wish so no one else could use it to stop him and get the stones so no one could reverse it. It’s a checkmate from his perspective.

Sorry my dudes, I usually agree completely with all your arguments, but I must retort here. It's extremely reasonable that Jane threw Storm Breaker away (it is not reasonable that they conveniently forget that Gorr is probably after the hammer to begin with, but that's another point).
In that moment, she tried to get the hammer as far away from Gorr as possible, then fight Gorr. Thor still has his electric powers, Valkyrie her bolt and Jane Mjolnir. MY problem is that when Thor gains his Storm breaker again, he fights off the monsters, but forgets to throw the hammer away again after the fight, allowing Gorr to take it.
Disconnecting Thor from his hammer would have been worth it to prevent Gorr from getting Storm breaker. Point is, I don't think it was an illogical decision, it's one of the few good ones they make in this garbage film.
She threw it away from herself. Gorr can teleport between shadows using the Necrosword and they are currently in the SHADOW realm. No matter where she throws it or how fast it is moving, it is always within arm's length of Gorr in this place. Throwing it away simply prevents our heroes from holding on to it and protecting it. Instead of wasting time fighting this losers, he should simply teleport to wherever Stormbreaker is thrown. It is a sub zero IQ move and should cause instant victory for Gorr if the people in charge of making this movie didn't also suffer from sub-zero IQ.

@@hermannlagrange803 Yeah, I can see how an audience member might miss a detail like that but it's unbelievably absurd that the writers who should be spending days, if not weeks or months, going over this or the characters themselves in the thick of it experiencing every excruciating detail and with plenty of downtime between scenes (that we skip over) to think about their problems would do something so absurd.
It would be like someone confronted with a sheer cliff in the middle of the path while hiking and his solution was to throw himself off the cliff to fix it.
