OP isn't being harsh enough. If there were security cameras, take the footage and press criminal charges for trespassing and destruction of property. Cops may not actually charge the kid, but they'll take a good long look at Karen's negligent behavior and supervision. Might even get CPS involved. He son could have drowned because she wasn't supervising, or telling him to stay off OP's property. Could also try for restraining orders to keep them away. Hold onto all records and videos for the courts. OP did everything right, it would be hard for him to lose this case.

I didn't trespass in the neighbours' yards when I was a kid. My parents wouldn't have supported me if I did. Kid's going to grow into a petty criminal, at best
Make sure you get some record or witnesses to back up the previous instances you've had to talk with Karen about her son's behavior. Texts about it to other people, footage from neighbors nest cams, anything that shows this is something she kept minimizing and not stopping.
If anything, OP is too soft, making verbal concessions like explaining how personal and costly a project it was. I don't care if the brat destroyed a 5$ bird feeder bought at a junk store- Trespass Timmy needs to upgrade to trespassing on construction sites and hopefully meet a deserved outcome.

If he got hurt in the water she’d sue instantly, it’s akin to a pool.
Yes sue them. It’s trespassing and if something happens to the kid like drowning it’s on you.
