The system I used for this ranking is as follows:
Heroes x 2 (weighted)
Villains x 3 (weighted)
Challenge Mode (if any)
Uniqueness
Each of the above categories were given a subjective overall score based on this scale:
5 Excellent
4 Great
3 Good
2 Average
1 Poor
0 If non existent
The formula winds up being:
HeroScore x 2 + VillainScore x 3 + ChallengeScore + UniqueScore

Marvel United is a cooperative game where players choose a Marvel hero to save civilians, battle thugs, and take care of threats long enough until they can face down the villain. Players win if they can defeat the villain before their decks run out or an alternative loss condition triggers.

I did not include the core sets (as at least one of them is required for play) and the stretch goal boxes in this list since it would not be an apt comparison to the rest of the content. Based on the formula I used, they would easily have been #1 and #2 in this list.
I personally believe the Villains add the most as you noted. They completely change how you play and I'm still playing through my core set a year later and seeing new things all the time. I love that they added so much content but I do feel like a lot of the heroes play the same. I don't have season 2 yet (still on the way), the additional game modes and homebrew content people make just throw this game to the top for me. I love it all. I can honestly say I'll never get rid of this game. It's so simple to understand and easy to get into, the only thing to make it better is some good storage solutions so you can grab everything and set it up in less than 5 minutes.
I find the hero variety good. Not all heroes are unique (Hulk and Sunfire for example both have location clearing powers) but the combination of teams and seating order sums to a unique experience.
And agree, that villains are the best aspect of the game. In fact if they were to do a Season 3, they covered a ton of heroes already, but there are plenty of more villains they could do instead. I would love that.
And yes this game absolutely needs a good storage solution. I'm struggling now trying to figure out what to do.

I’m all about the villains…..Sinister Six would have been my number one…..we love also love playing the Infinity Gauntlet.

Yes you are exactly right. I'm using an ultimately subjective system by injecting a bit of objectivity into it.
I think next time I'll make a list of what I expect the results to be versus what they actually are. I find the discussion around the findings to be engaging in a conversation.

the only one i corrected predicted was Asgard! lol i would love to see (if you're up for it) your personal ranking for every single villain in the game. Or maybe you and Kim each make a top 10 villains list without showing each other and then go through them together on screen. Maybe to make it more diverse, make it so you can't include the "bigger" villains like apocalypse, Nimrod, Sinister 6..basically anything that comes with its own separate rulebook. Just a thought! keep up the great work

Gotta leave some love for the Thor expansion. Thor and Beta Ray Bill are my 2nd and 3rd favorite heroes from the first set. I rank this expansion as #2 for season 1 after sinsister six.

I regret not being able to affird DoFP. I am glad that with the money I had that I got what I got, but I do feel like I'm missing something important with DoFP
There is so much content in this game. Honestly a little bit goes a long way. I wouldn't worry about it at all. The important thing is to pick up any sets with your favorite characters 😁
I have seen a Canadian retailer list some X-Men content for sale recently. I'm hoping some retail distribution will happen eventually.
Enjoyed watchin this. But you overrate the heroes..there are so many. The fun is in the expansions with the most villains like sinister six etc..❤😊
Completely fair! I had a few different weighting systems I tried out and they would yield different results.
I could easily see more emphasis on villains as they are a huge impact to the game.
But I've been having a ton of fun with exploring different combos with heroes too

I’m confused on how Silver Surfer’s Dimensional Travel card works. Do you add a 7th location, do you just switch locations and all the tokens or replace where you’re wanting to go with a location not on the board?
Good question.
Dimensional Travel will replace Silver Surfer's current location with any other location not in the game. All tokens and cards would then move to the new location. You will only ever have 6 locations.

how do u guys discard cards from hand, to the bottom of your deck to be used again or discard for good
Great question! One of the tricks someone taught me with TTS
Holding left click will pick up a card. While holding left click if you press the right mouse button (so you are pressing both mouse buttons at the same time) it will force the card to the bottom of the table. You can then slide it under a deck.

I’d echo Kim here. This list seems…off to me. You mentioned earlier in the video that if you did separate lists, the rankings would be drastically different. I almost feel like this would be more of the “challenge” list or the heroes list. As an overall list, I drastically disagree (which is odd because I feel like we’re in the same wavelength most of the time).
Value added, the weight of the villains compared to the weight of the heroes should be much different. The heroes are neat and should definitely be considered, but the villains weight should be so much higher. When you play against magneto over and over, it won’t matter if you have 100 heroes, the game will start to feel stale. Only goofballs like me will actually play against villains back to back (I like doing one play through of shield mode and then one of separate hands), but eventually you will crank through the villains faster than the heroes. The more villains you have, and the more modes they can be played in, will keep the game changing and keep interest. So, in the case of Sinister six, you have 7 “games” you can play. P5 you have….too many to play (each villain has two extra BAMs so…9 combinations at 5 villains each? Still very similar but different enough that it’s not just a repeat). Those alone can get through most of the heroes without playing just repeat games.
There’s also the fact that people that do want to play “vs” have those options to weigh also. I get the theme of the channel being co-op so I see where those aren’t weighted as high. Totally fine. The list would also change from playing solo, two player, or 3+. It’s really tough to do a concise rank list with everything involved, but even using most, I’d think the list would still change.
Great comments. Definitely agree. Effectively I weighted the villains 3x and Heroes 2x for the exact reasons you stated here.
I think the issue is the fact I tried doing an overall list so content like Sinister Six while fantastic, lost on any 2x points since it doesn't have heroes. Gold box with an awesome villain still got the same 3x bonus but also scored 2x for having great heroes too.
In hindsight, I probably should have also factored in the quantity of heroes and villains to these same bonuses which would almost certainly push something like Sinister Six much higher (since it's effectively 7 villain matchups).
Trying to combine all these factors into one list had some surprising results, even for me.
@@Co-opGuild Thanks for the content, but yeah, that method of ranking is just flawed. It's going to, by default, rank expansions with more hero content higher. You should have just ranked the heroes and villains evenly.

Sinister 6 in 10th? WHAAAAA
Tales of Asgard has great heroes. That model for Loki can be used as a Hero in the next Wave and you can also use the Mighty Thor's card from the new game for Thor so it gets a bit better. Bet Ray Bill is the obvious win from this box. I mean the Deadpool box sucks outside of Lady Deadpool.
I like the Asgard heroes as characters in the Marvel universe, but was unimpressed with how they were represented in United. I think you are right and adding Mjornir equipment will help a lot here.
As for Deadpool, I agree though I would also add Bob as a worthwhile piece in that expansion too. I love Bob both as a hero and villain.
