Yeah, he essentially went through a heroes' journey all to terrorize heaven itself. And you're absolutely right, his bag of tricks makes him a fun fight to watch.

Wukong vs Hercules is an extreme mismatch. He’s got every power you can think of and can use that power to an insane degree. Which is why this entire episode doesn't make sense. You could replace Heracles with just a random guy from the street and the result would've been the same. At least use someone from the Indian mythology that works on a similar or even larger scale.
Centaur blood isn't poisonous. A centaur named Nessus kidnapped Heracles' wife Deianira and Heracles chased him to get her back. He shot the centaur with his bow and arrows which, as you know, were dipped in hydra blood which IS extremely poisonous. Nessus then on his dying breath told Deianira to dip an article of clothing into his blood because it would make sure that Heracles would stay faithful to her, but in fact, this was all a trick to get back on Heracles and kill him since Nessus' blood had now become toxic due to the hydra blood. So some years later, Heracles falls in love with another girl, his wife gives him the tunic, Heracles wears it and the hydra blood, not the centaur blood, since it was so toxic, burns his skin and the pain Heracles experiences is unbearable. BUT, it doesn't kill him, so not only did he not die from centaur blood (because as I said it isn't poisonous) he didn't die from hydra blood either. Instead, the way he actually dies, is that he finds a giant fire on a mountain, gifts the person who lit the fire his hydra blood arrow as a thank you, and then commits suicide by jumping in the fire, ascending into Olympus and becoming a full God in the process, as well as marrying one of Hera's daughters, and for anyone wondering, his poisoned arrows were used in the Trojan War to kill Paris. Hooray! Keep in mind: this is NOT a hate comment, I just saw this inaccuracy in the video at 6:49 and I was a bit surprised so, here you go Love your vids
I don't know if you can find it, but in the 90s there was a cartoon called "Monkey Magic." It aired at like 4 AM on the west coast but it was honestly one of the best Wukong representations I've seen.
RoosterTeeth's copyright shit is legitimately awful. I remember one time they even fucked over Death Battle themselves because they used a RWBY song in a video in a tribute to RWBY's creator
Sun wu kong is like four times immortal. First he gets sought out various his ways to make himself immortal but the one he landed on was one that wound up being a method that the gods hated then he wound up in the afterlife and erased his name from The book of the dead (those who are slating to die eventually) along with as many monkeys of his kingdom he could find, then he ate the immortal peaches, then drink the immortal wine and then downed a bunch of pills of immortality so like four times immortal.
Sun Wukong is a Septuple-Immortal with ridiculous strength, speed, literal magic, shapeshifting, laser vision, healing from literally fatal injury, and wit. Hercules is probably physically stronger but is slower, isn’t immortal (if they are using the non-god version), and is a man of above average ability to think outside the box. The poison is not likely to actually kill him, I mean it didn’t even kill Heracles himself and Sun was poisoned by a probably worse poison and made it through that just fine and also survived a flame that strips away immortality and a attack that can end existence.
The video in the overview show him reattaching his head... If he cannot reach his head ,he just grows a new one, and the poison of the scorpion demon is most definitely deadly beyond belief (just like the hydra venom), but monkey cannot get killed by anything in existence so it just caused him excruciating pain (which he can also ignore... sometimes)
@@zockingtroller7788 like I said, if the scorpion didn't do him in the hydra venom certainly isn't if it couldn't even kill Heracles in his pre-god form. Monkey is just stupidly OP.
When I first saw this death battle I was blown away but I didn’t know anything about sun wukong, after my research I now know this was the most unfair match-up in all death battle history… sun wukong is beyond broken
Much of the forums spend more debating whether or not it is fair to have them in forums. More than in battles already Sun Wukong wins, forum closed, it's over.
They did their research for this cause they were doing myths so they knew if they didn’t then a lot of people would be mad. For most death battles between comics or anime they sometimes skin stuff
Just gonna clear something up about the length of Death Battles. There hasn't been a 5 minute long battle since season 5, and that was the finale. Death Battle isn't mainly a big cinema series, it's just an internet show that does research and forms their opinion on who they think would win, so a big cinematic animation is very rare in the show. As long as it does what it's supposed to, it's fine. But anyway, that was a great reaction. It's always fun when people who aren't involved with Death Battle watch their content.
After watching this do you want them to do other mythological characters in death battle? And what would that be? Sigurd vs Cadmus is a one I think can work
After watching this fight for the first time I thought it would be cool to see Sun wukong fight The American Folk hero Pecos Bill, little did I know that this line of thought would send me down a rabbit hole of Discovery and realization, realization that the story I was told for the entirety of my life about Pecos Bill seems to be completely unique to my family and no other version of the Pecos Bill story is really similar to the one It other than on a very base level In fact I've come to call my family's version of the Pecos Bill folklore the Folk Epic version due to this fact alongside just how long and detailed my family's version is with fully fleshed out arcs and everything They're even some elements that upon retrospect made me think that my family may have actually gotten inspiration from the Sun wukong in some way for our version of Pecos Bill like Pecos gaining what seems to be at least four levels of immortality and then fights off heaven and hell similar to The monkey King although pecos's stuff is in a completely different context And honestly that inspiration wouldn't be a surprise to me considering for one I come from a family of storytellers who love stories of all kinds from everywhere and for two do to how much my family's version takes influence from various mythologies, other pieces of folklore and even though classical literature with all these bits of inspiration being knit together neatly to create a tale about a man who truly was the greatest cowboy to ever live Now I'm in the process of remembering and talking to my various family members to reconstruct our full Pecos Bill story and get it written down for the first time to my knowledge and eventually get it released in some form or another So basically it would be awesome to see Pecos fight Wukong and my family's version may even win against the monkey king do to having a few direct counters to the monkey Kings abilities and having two edges that (to my knowledge) monkey king doesn't have a real answer to
@@Punaparta I'm in the process of doing it right now and I'm currently still writing down the first Arc of the story which consists of several interconnected stories dealing with Pecos's childhood growing up being raised by coyote and dealing with various problems ranging from stopping a war between native tribes to fighting off the Nueva Mexico Cascabela Grande to save his first blood brother, best friend and trusty steed lightning (later renamed Widowmaker) and even the story on how Pecos got his name shortly after he was born by sneaking into his dad's stash of alcohol and drinking it all, by the way Pecos's Dad's alcohol had such ingredients like Pecos River water, three rattlesnake heads and even gunpowder, one of those things that Pecos has over The monkey King is a seemingly complete resistance to all poisons, venoms etc, in fact he actively seeks out the deadliest of the stuff to add to his alcohol
@@joseloayza502 totally although bill is surprisingly good with most of the gods, in fact in my family's version he was raised by two and is considered a demigod by some as a result, he even helped out Odin in one story but there are a few instances where Bill gets into a tussle with a god or God tier being which involved extraordinarily deadly poisons, in one of pecos's stories from my family he ends up in ancient Greece where he meets Hercules and gets into a scrap with him, Hercules tries using the Hydra blood soaked arrows on Pecos, which Pecos promptly eats and after the fight adds to his alcohol, there's also his various scraps with the devil including his first where he straight up drinks the devil under the table among other adventures

Huh, funny thing I just realized about Dragonball: Bulma is Tripitaka. You can map most characters to in DB to someone from JTTW. Oolong is Pigsy. Jamcha could be Sandy - replacing a River Dragon with a Desert Bandit. But Bulma is the first character Goku meets and she gives the quest: Get the Dragon Balls instead of transporting scrolls.
Sandy is kinda divided between Yamcha and the Ox king, Goku could not beat him, 5he only way they "beat" that challenge was by talking instead of violence.
@@christopherg2347 to be fair, your comment reads like you just realized similarities between characters of the two stories, not that the first arc of DB was a spoof of Journey to the West, which is why I made my comment.
In the old myth, Sun Wukong doesn't write his name at the pillar at the edge of the universe. He urinated on it to mark it. Later, the Buddha opened his hand and it was moist with Sun Wukong's urine that the monkey could smell and know it was real.

According to some Roman sources, while on his way to the garden of the Hesperides on the island of Erytheia, Hercules had to cross the mountain that was once Atlas. Instead of climbing the great mountain, Hercules used his superhuman strength to smash through it. Also, Heracles went to Atlas and offered to hold up the heavens while Atlas got the apples from his daughters.
Bruh. Hercules story literally ends with him dying. Sun Wukong is, counting each individual item and not lumping them together, basically immortal on thousands of levels. Literally everything the gods did to try and kill him _only made him stronger_ Hercules never stood a chance.
If you get down to it, they did a pop culture mythology battle a while ago when they had two memetic badasses, Chuck Norris vs Segata Sanshiro, duke it out. Idk how you feel about "urban legends" as mythology but hey.
"I was just talking about this!" (said like three or four times by the 12 minute mark) Imagine that.. a series about giving backstory to the characters mentioning the same popular tales that are mentioned in several versions.
I mean, in fairness, Heracles was basically Greek Chuck Norris with all the monsters he's credited at fighting, so he was definitely closer than most foes they could pick.
Death battles are more so about characters similarities than equivalences. Hercules is the most famous hero of the west and Sun wukong is the most famous hero of the East

What makes this make more sense is that Sun Wukong is also known as the "Intelligent Stone Monkey" and the allegory of the human mind, he is impulsive and tends to be reckless, but he's not dumb. I mean, he saved the monk way too many times and when he told them to stay in ONE place, what did they do? Leave. Yeah, he's impulsive but smart
Wukong vs Hercules is an extreme mismatch. He’s got every power you can think of and can use that power to an insane degree. The fight should’ve been over pretty quick, and I’m glad DeathBattle didn’t make it a super-long fight. I love Hercules as a character, but Wukong is so OP that every media depiction of him is extremely weak by comparison, including Goku.

@@joseloayza502nah he comes very close in power to the original Sun twice in the manga
Sun wu kong is like four times immortal.

More than in battles already
Sun Wukong wins, forum closed, it's over.
They did their research for this cause they were doing myths so they knew if they didn’t then a lot of people would be mad. For most death battles between comics or anime they sometimes skin stuff
RARELY skimp.
Yea usually they just scroll the fan wikis for a few minutes
This is practically a Saitama vs. Popeye type of battle - a super-strong guy versus what's essentially a _toon._
When Infinite Strength hit Infinite Strength, I was expecting the universe to explode.
I'm so glad to see you finally reacting to this
Whenever someone says that Death Battle doesn’t do their research, all I hear is “A character I like lost”
After watching this do you want them to do other mythological characters in death battle? And what would that be?
Sigurd vs Cadmus is a one I think can work
ne zha vs Achilles
What about Loki VS Coyote VS Anansi? An absolute mindfuck of a battle between multiple trickster gods. :P
King Arthur vs Yamato Takeru
Legendary royals with a mythical blade.
I like Thor vs Susanoo
What about Athena vs Tyr
Suprised you did a deathbattle reaction I don't see them a lot but this is a cool mixup
19:31 Ah, I see they took inspiration from Overly Sarcastic Productions for Pigsy and Sandy.
"Pigsy" and "Sandy" was first coined by Arthur Walley from 1942
After watching this fight for the first time I thought it would be cool to see Sun wukong fight The American Folk hero Pecos Bill, little did I know that this line of thought would send me down a rabbit hole of Discovery and realization, realization that the story I was told for the entirety of my life about Pecos Bill seems to be completely unique to my family and no other version of the Pecos Bill story is really similar to the one It other than on a very base level
In fact I've come to call my family's version of the Pecos Bill folklore the Folk Epic version due to this fact alongside just how long and detailed my family's version is with fully fleshed out arcs and everything
They're even some elements that upon retrospect made me think that my family may have actually gotten inspiration from the Sun wukong in some way for our version of Pecos Bill like Pecos gaining what seems to be at least four levels of immortality and then fights off heaven and hell similar to The monkey King although pecos's stuff is in a completely different context
And honestly that inspiration wouldn't be a surprise to me considering for one I come from a family of storytellers who love stories of all kinds from everywhere and for two do to how much my family's version takes influence from various mythologies, other pieces of folklore and even though classical literature with all these bits of inspiration being knit together neatly to create a tale about a man who truly was the greatest cowboy to ever live
Now I'm in the process of remembering and talking to my various family members to reconstruct our full Pecos Bill story and get it written down for the first time to my knowledge and eventually get it released in some form or another
So basically it would be awesome to see Pecos fight Wukong and my family's version may even win against the monkey king do to having a few direct counters to the monkey Kings abilities and having two edges that (to my knowledge) monkey king doesn't have a real answer to
Yo, you should totally write that story down.
@@helious5056 It's excellent
That sounds like Wukong, if all the gods make an anti-immortality poison, you can power up similar to the oven.

Huh, funny thing I just realized about Dragonball:
Bulma is Tripitaka.
Technically kurirrin/krillin is Tripitaka

Now Buddhism is born as a parody of these concepts, many terms could be changed by the Ineffable Parent, The Absolute and The Pope in terms.
In turn, Wukong is born as a parody of this extended with Chan Buddhism or Chinese Buddhism mixed with Taoist concepts and Confucianism.
