I wonder why they never show the Lakers play before the alley hoop when Kobe made the same crossover to score on Pippen before this, which led to them helping off Shaq?
Forced to relive victories like this because my favorite team sucks sack now. But, can't take away good memories, regardless of what these dudes wearing foil hats with antennas say. Let them tell it, Stern was on the court with a whistle. Probably sac queens fans sharing in the hate lol!
One of the best moments of my life. Haters, this game, the 2002 Kings series, and the 2010 game 7 NBA Finals were not rigged. Best team won and that was my Lakers. End of story. "sigh" I miss these Lakers. To haters again, stop comparing the Heat D of now to the early 2000's and the 09-10 Lakers or even the 90's Bulls. No one will ever and I repeat ever play defenses as good as Phil Jackson coached teams did. Period.
There had to be some rigging going on. Sabonis fouls out with his last couple fouls being questionable. When Steve Smith gets drilled at the rim no foul is given. When Shaq runs over Brian Grant it is Grant who gets the foul. And then you look at the free throw disparity. I'm not excusing the fact the Blazers missed key baskets and free throws but the officiating wasn't making it any easier for them. I'm a Bulls fan and even I admit the 90s Bulls got a lot of preferential treatment.
37 FTAs for the Lakers in the forth? Sabonis out on two laughable calls. 1:59--O'neal is as surprised as anyone the Lakers are winning this game. Looks like he won the lottery, not earned a pay check. ...Advice on refereeing a seventh game conference championship game: put the whistle in your pocket and leave it there until someone throws a punch--or an elbow at Mike Bibby's nose. Let them play basketball. Refs should not even be part of the discussion.
yeah its good to see that basketball is spreading. But its shame that in Finland everybody just cares about Ice hockey and floorball dont get me wrong those are good sports but i would want to see Finnish people who loves this sport as much as i do.
I was at a game once and saw Michael Jordan charge and choke Reggie Miller. Reggie was ejected and Jordan finished out the game. Bulls won. I never said this game was rigged, disgracefully poorly reffed, okay. If you think the NBA doesn't follow a business agenda at times, you're wrong. But also, that is why the teams should work harder during the regular season to get that home court advantage. If Portland did that year maybe O'neal would have fouled out and Sabonis would have been in.
youre right, but the 2002 kings series was rigged. u most be some type of I love my favorite team so ill never say/believe/think anything bad about my team type of fan. Ive been a clipper fan since 05 and I knew that we wouldnt win a championship in a long time, i dont think theyll win it this yr either. Thats being loyal. You, are not being loyal. Im pretty sure if it was the other way around, Kings had the refs side and lakers didnt, Laker fans would take it way harder than king fans did.
This game and 2010 Finals, absolutely not rigged. Of course. The 2002 WCF series, undeniably rigged. The Lakers are great, Shaq and Kobe were one of the best duos of all time, but that series WAS fixed. Webber, Bibby and the rest of the Kings earned a fucking ring that year and it disgusts me the way it was stolen from them, and the way that Lakers fans act as if people are just making it all up. Watch a series called "The Greatest Tragedy in Sports" and learn something about it.
@jazzalex22 I'd hate to burst your bubble, but the 2004 Pistons didn't win with their offense as the top priority. That was championship defense that beat the Lakers that year, and I was rooting for the Lakers only because they beat my T-Wolves and MVP KG that year. Lol I wanted Karl Malone to get a ring that year.
im not even a lakers hater nor am i a kings fan but theyres proof that the 2002 game was rigged and there are videos all over youtube of that cheap shot from kobe to bibby. I dont know about the other games you listed but the refs were definitely helping the lakers
game 6 was rigged, yes ill admit it. but the kings were in a perfect position to win game 7, they were the best home team in the league, and it was a game 7 that featured the best team they've ever had. they just couldn't make big shots late in that game to close the lakers out.
yeah my bad i just saw something like 2 years ago some article but i think i got it in a wrong way i am from finland and my english skills can sometimes go in the woods but thanks for clearing this thing for me
They were down 16 or 17! And here they showed only two 3's by Shaw, game tied... Show the WHOLE comeback! Whats the point of this documentary if it shows very little of the subject, in wack slow motion no less.....SMH
One potential/questionable missed call does not equal an entire series being fixed. I'm a Bulls fan and I fucking hate the Heat but even I don't think that was much of a foul, the one on Durant.
Thus far you're still the only one who has mentioned rigging games. Maybe you're right. Someone should look into that. I'm starting to wonder if you even watched this game.
did you really just type the 2002 kings series wasn't rigged? someone must of had their beer goggles on when they watched that....... *cough cough* im talking about you
that "end of story. sigh" sounds really silly, especially adressing the HATERS,when everybody BUT faker bandwagons, say 02 was rigged. atleast be honest about it
great fans feel connected to the team and if you're a fan then it is your team. they wouldnt make any money if you didnt see them play or watch them on tv.
This was another fixed game. Portland was missing their shots because the Refs were distracting them. And didn’t you notice the ref that put on a lakers uniform. 😂
whenever the lakers win, the refs were the reason. whenever the lakers lose, the game was fairly called. This is what happens when people don't want to see something. They won't see it.
This is bigger than the Lakers. To tell the truth, I would have loved to see them get to the finals this year. Kobe is one of the only players left in the league who doesn't feel a need to concede to James. He'll play him without fear. Maybe I, and many others are missing the days when nobody faked it, or flopped it in. That year Portland had a great team, and I'm a fan of old eighties and nineties team basketball.
Lakers need to do something next summer and add jung stars to there roster, i think that Mitch will come up with a big plan and convince kobe to make a paycut in order to build a young core of stars and good roll players. Who don't wanna play at the biggest stage in the city of Angels? Except for D12 then! Hoping the best for this season!
The year is 2000 Rasheed Wallace’s team led the Lakers by double figures the in 4th quarter at Staple’s Center then Lakers came back and won. Ten years later the same thing happen.
Rigged game lmao This great team was denied a NBA Championship because David Stern wanted to make more Money In the deciding game of the Western Conference Championships June 4 in The Staples Center. With the series tied at three wins each, the Trail Blazers were leading the host Lakers, 73-58, early in the fourth quarter then were outscored, 31-11 in the last 11 minutes and lost, 89-85. The Trail Blazers took 16 FTA the Lakers took 37 FTA . The Trail Blazers top defensive players Arydas Sabonis & Scottie Pippen both fouled out. In the fourth quarter every call was in favor of the Lakers. Both of Sabonis 5th & 6th fouls were terrible calls, both came on blocking calls. When Portland lost Sabonis they had to go to Brian Grant, who at 6'8" was too small to play key minutes at center against Shaq.
timjax991 Oh please. By your logic, the Portland Trail Blazers 1990 and 1992 NBA Finals losses to Isiah Thomas and the 'Bad Boy' Detroit Pistons and Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls was also rigged because David Stern wanted to make more money. The Blazers had the Lakers on the ropes coming back from 3-1 down and had their foot on their throats, but they let up. No wonder why Rip City had to wait until 2014 for their first postseason series win since their 2000 playoff run.
There is bias in the NBA officiating, but rigged is the wrong word. If it was rigged, the lakers wouldn't have won so many games with last second shots. I do believe the refs are told to try to make the more popular players look good, but you also have to look at how the players play the refs. One thing Portland and Sacramento had in common was the players were very vocal and lacked composure. It's easy for refs to get biased when players do that.
I will never forget this I was 15 on my couch enjoying the game as my Lakers made history and made a 3peat if they would stayed together we could have got even more on my opinion.
I just remember watching this game as a kid with my older brother. These lakers literally made fans into "girlfriends." Just the tenacity, competitiveness, and courage this series had is inspiring ughhhhh.
Kobe Bryant doesn't know how to quit. It's not part of his vocabulary.
tbh, if he wasn't jalen rosed, he woud still play like an mvp caliber every season till now,
Hey FUCKFACE the refs swallowed their whistles!
suns series
I wonder why they never show the Lakers play before the alley hoop when Kobe made the same crossover to score on Pippen before this, which led to them helping off Shaq?
Pippen was never the same after that
ahhh the good ol days..i still remember, my beer spills on the table coz everyone jumps when kobe made the alley hoop pass to shaq.
until now, im still having a goose bump when iam watching this
good ol days when refs and stern hand the lakers rings
Is that Glen Rice hugging Shaq at the end?
This is actually Stern's youtube channel.
Classic game, its all I gotta say
Forced to relive victories like this because my favorite team sucks sack now. But, can't take away good memories, regardless of what these dudes wearing foil hats with antennas say. Let them tell it, Stern was on the court with a whistle. Probably sac queens fans sharing in the hate lol!

You mean when Blazer were we’re playing against 8 players?
There had to be some rigging going on. Sabonis fouls out with his last couple fouls being questionable. When Steve Smith gets drilled at the rim no foul is given. Lmao this commentary, talks about Kobe and Shaq stepping forward, but shows 6 points from Shaw and 2 points from Shaq.
Refs swallowed their whistles!
37 FTAs for the Lakers in the forth? Sabonis out on two laughable calls. 1:59--O'neal is as surprised as anyone the Lakers are winning this game. RIP MAMBA💔
Kevin Lee sees holes in the Lakers game
What team brings in more revenue for the NBA, LA or Portland?
Shaq and Kobe are great, but they did not win this game. A true disgrace for the NBA.
Blazers had a bad ass squad
You have got to be fucking joking lol..Kings got screwed, Lakers got handed the championship..Simple as that.
The Comeback was led by the referees not by the Lakers
"bryant......to SHAQ!!", i like that reaction than in "kobe throws to shaq, slamdunk".....@ 1:55-1:57
Yes the abc announcer said it better that night. My respect to the late chick hearn.
Free throws and bullshit no calls...
yes, and the next two years after that.
no doubt they cheated
RIGGED
Rigged.

yet sport's have been rigged before... not saying this game was, but you cut out a few of teams that actually did gave up their title for cash.
Yes game 6 was rigged, but game 7 wasn't. If the Kings were that much better, at home, they should have closed the Lakers out then.
Yes because LeBron obviously fouled KD and Westbrook and got away with it, that's rigged right there and an undeserved NBA title.
@speedpunks85 u got the point... when malone went down their interior defense just went to hell i guess...too bad :S
the hole series is punch of crap and did the refs got somekinds of fines to pay for it?
kobe shaq forever
Im a die hard Laker fan and even I can question that... Red Auerbach's teams... c'mon
I did, the Greatest Tragedy in Sports should be the 2012 NBA Finals not that.
i think pippen went to the hospital after that game to check his ankles . lol
I think the early 2000s pistons played better D than Lakers ever will btw
The Thunder/Heat series does not even begin to compare. Are you serious?
No question the 2002 kings series was rigged the refs corrupted it :/
You lost me by saying 2002 Kings series were not rigged. Come on now.
No, 2002 kings got rigged, but agree with everything else you said
The best player for the la lakers is not Kobe it was Tim donogy
so your saing that sacramento vs lakers in 2002 wasnt rigged
This was another fixed game. Portland was missing their shots because the Refs were distracting them. And didn’t you notice the ref that put on a lakers uniform. 😂
Refs swallowed their whistles!
wow the sweet voice of Chick Hearns d.am I miss you Chicky
You forget game 6 of the 2002 WCF and game 7 of 2010 finals
WHAT I DREAM?? KOBE SHAQ VS JORDAN PIPPEN IN FINALS! :(
BELIEVE EVEN IF LA BARLEY MAKES THE 8TH SEED BELIEVE
i think the current chicago bulls play good defense
whenever the lakers win, the refs were the reason.
whenever the lakers lose, the game was fairly called.
This is what happens when people don't want to see something. They won't see it.
Sean Ling yeah unfortunately you were concieved by incest lmao
The 2002 Kings series is big ?,because of refs...
at 0:55 kobe was like were losing? OH HELL NAW!

kobe almost blew a 3-1 lead lol
razkable but he did
+E 10x You can blame the whole team lol. Not just smush
Lakers need to do something next summer and add jung stars to there roster, i think that Mitch will come up with a big plan and convince kobe to make a paycut in order to build a young core of stars and good roll players. I wanna know what plays were rigged if any
Haha someone stills mad pippen is that u
The year is 2000 Rasheed Wallace’s team led the Lakers by double figures the in 4th quarter at Staple’s Center then Lakers came back and won. Ten years later the same thing happen.
Refs swallowed their whistles!!
If it's so rigged why bother to watch?
another one of those ignorant comment.
wtf rick fox praising shaq on that play? kobe making the center come out throwing the best oop possible, all shaq had to do is jump up and dunk-.-
123 asd did you not see the prefect cut and how high the ball went
no scottie got his 7th ring that year
Rigged game lmao
This great team was denied a NBA Championship because David Stern wanted to make more Money

^ well in 90 and 92 did the blazers get screwed over with fta's something like 37-16?
Did they win that year
he now coaches denver
brian shaw and those HUGE 3's he hit will always be a part of laker history

Refs swallowed their whistles!!
I just remember watching this game as a kid with my older brother. These lakers literally made fans into "girlfriends." Just the tenacity, competitiveness, and courage this series had is inspiring ughhhhh.

Arguably one of the greatest playoff series in NBA history.
