This team was insane. Not because of the names but because of how they all fed off each other’s energy. The chemistry was insane. These guys loved playing alongside each other. I wish they never broke them up.
If Pelinka were smarter he would've tried to sign Zo again and get Caruso back. Zo has improved tremendously with his 3 point shooting and on/off ball defence and definitely would've helped this team out this year had they not made that trade for Russ. No disrespect to Russ but he doesn't fit the system that the Lakers run.
Exactly. Why did they break a championship team? The first wrong move was Mcgee's departure in 2020 and it continued with the complete demolition of last year's team. The 2021 team faced major injuries because of fatigue, but they were still able to paly great defense and reach the playoffs and they would had beaten the Suns with a healthy Davis. This year's team on the other hand, never jelled at all.
It worked, no egos, they all got along, everybody knew their role, the chemistry was through the roof. I never understood why they broke the team up smh. They were so fun to watch

Not a Lakers fan but I believe that they could've won 1 or 2 more rings if they kept this squad and if AD was healthy. That Lakers team was a literally a perfect championship team with shooters, defenders, rim protectors, veterans, rising young players, and 2 of the top 10 players in the league.
Does anybody realize that russ did not become a horrible player when he came to the lakers? It happened when he was traded to houston and left OKC. Every single team russ was on except the thunder....he got progessively worse from the rockets, wizards and now lakers. Sure, he may have his vintage OKC moments but it isnt the same.
Amazing squad. IQ was off the charts with these role players. In a game full of non stop action, this team mastered it like no other. Any window of opportunity they were given, they capitalized on it. There’s a reason why the only way to score on these guys, was through isolations like Luka, or Jokic, or Jimmy Butler in the finals. It’s truly a shame this team is remembered as a “bubble ring” team. Especially considering many predicted that the bubble would hurt the older teams and that younger teams would thrive. They were right. The lakers were relatively old and did initially struggle in the bubble and still managed to win the chip that they rightfully earned. To put it simply, the odds were technically against them in the bubble yet they still prevailed, as a champion.
Bubble or not, that team is destined to win the championship. So fuck those who say they only because they were. MFs don’t understand the mental toughness playing w/o a crowd.
