I'm so glad you are spending some time with this game and sharing your experience with us! This excellent video has already been a great help in getting me to wrap my head around this rule set. Thank you!
YES, YES, YES! Thanks for putting this up. This will help me decide on pulling the trigger.... BCS, GOSS, aTfT..... decision time for my first foray into the bulge.
This is the best opportunity to do a detailed comparison of these game systems: how do they stack up (!) against each other as in-depth and accurate and playable simulations of the Bulge. Already I see some differences in initial deployments in the 7th Army sector. I read somewhere that the designer here is an Ardennes OOB expert and the level of detail is impressive.
Thanks for doing these videos! I ordered the game during the sale and am still eagerly waiting for it to arrive. I also heard that there is supposed to be another rules update in September. My plan is to tackle Ardennes 44 first before this monster.
Very timely, as ATfT will be arriving in Bendemeer NSW next week, or so GMT tells me. The only problem (if one could call it that) is the half dozen or so games in front on the to-play list 🤔
@@WiseGuyHistory Was looking forward to seeing your impression of this as one part of me loves the work on the history of this battle the developers obviously engaged in. It seems very fiddly though compared to LB and I see on consimworld people are ordering replacement cards. I'm assuming you are exaggerating the errata but is it really bad? Finally with 3 turns per day it would seem this would take a lot longer to play than LB. For me the play experience would have to be excellent to warrant the time commitment.
@@IRLBemused I'm not sure of the extent of the errata; GMT just issued an errata package with over 200 pages, so I printed the rulebook [64 pages] and the replacement player aid cards [8 pages], and rely on the PDF copies of the other material [as I don't want to print off another 100+ pages]. Note that this is the 'living' rulebook-type material, not 200 pages of errata.
I regret not picking this up in the sale, even though I don't have space for the full campaign. What I really want to know what this scale and the added complexity and mechanical difficulty (counters + size + tackling solo) " brings to the table" that I don't already get with Ardennes 44? Appreciate your videos Nathan. So well done.
Looks a bit too complex for me, its like theyve nicked the ideas from ocs and taken the fun out of it. I never liked the original avalon hill battle of the bulge game he designed, tedious.
In terms of 'flipping' HQs and Arty between March and Deployed, they're the main units that do so. Most other combat units just have 'one format', and the reverse side is used to note step losses. Those Dispersed units at started are a little special as they're effectively company size.
I cant do anymore Bulge games but I shall live vicariously through you. Too busy with Red Storm/Downtown right now

Excellent summary. Looking forward to future rules discussion and play through.
Fantastic - and a very brave individual indeed doing this as a series, so really looking forward to these, thanks!
Those rules are a lot more in-depth than I was expecting. Will be interesting to see how it plays!
Many thx for this serie!!. I have the game waiting to have time to read the rules! So many cromo.....
Yeah it's a slog; there are some great summaries in the files section of BGG, and you could probably use those to get started...

Well, the game will be arriving, but you'll have to download the whole errata kit [about 200+ pages worth]... :-D

The printer at work is well versed in printing rules and errata....200 pages is a snip 😀

Thanks Rob; I'll hold my opinion until I've played a fair bit as I don't want to respond based on early impressions.
Same thoughts .
Great job as usual.
Thanks! More to come!
Been waiting for this
Great, thanks a lot. I plan to play it when the summer ends.
