    I watched these years ago on Netflix. Then I read all the books. I’ve tried to find a way to buy the films for the USA with no luck and then I tried UA-cam. I am so thrilled. I’ve had a crush on Roy Marsden for a long time. He is excellent at all ages!

    Enjoying these AGAIN and RE-learning Who Done It. That brother and half-sister are really CREEPY. Some relationships quite startling for the early 80's TV.

    That’s an unmistakable very young Brenda Blethyn in the role of Angela Foley. Brilliant actor.

    I was in a south London pub, killing time one weekday afternoon when Barry Foster walked in. How I wish I'd plucked up the courage to buy him a drink - a wonderful actor, who could forget his creepy starring role in the Hitchcock classic 'Frenzy'? I guess he must have been starring at a nearby theatre, maybe the National or the Old Vic, and killing time himself. Grab your opportunities folks - they don't come around twice!

    Why is the night scene so dark? Dalgliesh said he got to the chapel @19.50 - on the 10th of August - it would still be daylight

      Thanks for pointing that out. You are correct. The British Isles are at a very high latitude and sunset would still be relatively late that day of the year. Your comment intrigued me, so I looked it up and sunset on or about that date would be at about 20.30 hours (8:30 p.m.), give or take just a few minutes. Good catch!

    Rivetting the old ways of dealting with a woman's grief. Don't let her have a last look at the woman she loved. Grapple and sedate.

      @Jan Hall, unfortunately, it would have been common at the time to not consider theirs a “real relationship,” and calling them good friends would have been considered charitable by many.

    • @inkyguy
      @inkyguy 2 роки тому +6

      @Nick Phillips, if you notice they never really perform CPR on TV or in the movies. Because CPR is actually a pretty traumatic procedure for the patient and can crack and break ribs, the best they can do is a crude facsimile of CPR, dramatically flailing their arms and moving their hands up and down over the victim or patient’s chest to make it look like they’re doing far more than they are. They absolutely don’t - and can’t - compress another actor’s chest because it could harm or, ironically, kill them.

    Is it possible at this late date to correct the captions? Thank you. "He's got reason we're dealing with" / "It's not reason we're dealing with"!!
    And hard-to-believe details like not testing for fingerprints in the Temple like the Bible, on the numbers posted for hymns, etc. And not locking the door when leaving even tho he had one of the keys in his pocket. He could've given it to the copper on duty...But seriously suspenseful!

    A very young Brenda Blethyn now better know for her role as Vera Stanhope

  • @meofamily4
    @meofamily4 2 роки тому +1

    This is the point at which, similarly to an Agatha Christie plot, the investigator is certain of an answer to the puzzle (and is quite correct in that certainty) without a shred of evidence pointing in that direction. Dalgliesh knows, upon the discovery of an apparent suicide -- which the medical examiner tells him is perfectly consistent with a suicide, -- that this is the victim of a murderer, and, further, that it is the same person who murdered Dr. Lorrimer. No evidence for such a conjecture is provided, or, to judge from the movie-makers point of view, is needed. We are expected to assume supernatural sleuthing skills on the part of the detective. Bah!
