I have a question. The wingtips in a photo i was editing with the help of this video, even in the original picture have like green lines coming out of them, is that something wrong with my camera?
You seem to be chasing your tail with the edits. Why do dust spot removal in Photoshop when Lightroom is far superior for that task? The basic edits in LR contradict each other, just watch the histogram as you make adjustments and you'll see that all you have really done is added contrast, (spread the histogram out) you really have no darks and highlights to speak of, just all midtones. While on that subject the Exposure, brightness, shadow and highlights are just another way of adjusting the tone curve. So why do both? It's all right to spend all this time on a single image but you try doing that on a batch of 300 pictures! the KISS principle works best.
Thank you for sharing your workflow! A couple of questions however, why don’t you flatten layers before exporting the file? And also why you export instead of save as? Thanks!
Fantastic masterclass! Do you have any tips for editing JPEG photos (peasant P510 gang here haha)? Been pretty satisfied with CC Lightroom but now Imma actually give Photoshop a shot!
You won't be able to push JPEG photos as much as RAW photos, but you can still get some pretty great results using the same techniques. There is also a tool from Topaz Labs called JPEG2RAW which lets you convert JPEGs into a RAW format, but I haven't personally tried it myself. Might be worth checking out.
thank you i just started aviation photography, after doing mostly videos only. Your photoshop tutorial really helps, and the way you go through everything is very easy to follow thanks for making this.
You can, but the reason masking is good is that it keeps the layer itself intact, so if you were ever to go back and change the mask you can, but if you had erased the layer itself, it would be harder to reverse.
Brilliant video Alvin. Love that technique of adding the colour graduated filters. Do you generally just use the camera raw noise reduction over topaz? Or which do you prefer?
Normally I use Topaz for noise reduction, but because I wanted to keep this video stock photoshop only, I just demonstrated using the denoise tool in Camera Raw.
Who else is here for a good time?
Yep
Oh heck yes! This is so awesome of you to share your workflow in such detail! Gotta watch through the entire video still, but this is so resourceful!
edit: went through the video and can confirm, this is so useful!
Thank you Rohan! Hopefully it helps out someone getting started with photoshop!

Bit late but, can I use photoshop elements?
Wow! You are good!

Came here for the editing masterclass, stayed for the Bravo cameo 🐶
Hahahah that’s how I get you to stay 😈
It’s an effective strategy really.
how did you do the graduated filters in camera raw, it isn't on the side panel for me
Thank you for sharing your workflow!
A couple of questions however, why don’t you flatten layers before exporting the file? And also why you export instead of save as?
Thanks!
The Export workflow automatically flattens the layers while exporting. Also I can select the resolution and quality while exporting that way.
Spot healing brush fans?

go under filter and then camera raw filter
Wow! great video mate! It was really helpful as i just started using Adobe for editing my plane spotting pics
Awesome, great timing then! 😁
Can you also instead of masking just use the eraser tool to erase the parts you don't want to ve affected by the graduated filter?
You can, but the reason masking is good is that it keeps the layer itself intact, so if you were ever to go back and change the mask you can, but if you had erased the layer itself, it would be harder to reverse.
