    Oh, this tower is really very tall! And it can be made even higher!! This is a great field for experimentation.

    Thank you very much for your detailed explanation and measurements. It really helped a lot, and thanks for not trimming away the mistake part, cause it actually helped me prevent it LOL🤣

    7:03 making mistakes is essential. You've got a chance to end up with a better product. Thanks so much for the videos. As a beginner myself I must say I'm privileged to watch how these are made. Very recently used some ideas to make a pop up page for a school theatre day. Parents loved the end up result and co-workers got interested in it.

    I saw Matthew Reinhart's vid, but he didn't do the top part. So glad you covered that! Thanks.

    Seems this is something Matthew has been pushing to see how far off the page he can get his pop-ups to go. The one in his Lego book is very high and now I’ll have to check his build to see if he’s been developing on this method 😊. I’ve had in mind a book project where this technique will work nicely I think. Thank you for the insight not to mention letting us see the mistakes. It shows once again that this is a flexible, often forgiving but precise medium and to take things that don’t come off as part of the process ❤

      I think I saw a video where Matthew Reinhart mentioned thaat the tower in the Lego book was an attempt to get as tall a tower as possible. He does have a video showing his method for developing this particular tower from Disney Princess. These Particular mechanisms are really tricky!

    • @CrowtreesStudio
      @CrowtreesStudio Рік тому

      @@thepop-upchannel4919 Tricky indeed! It makes you wonder how they manage to commercialize the process but then I suppose that is reflected in the cost of the grander books.

    thankyou as always! Is there a list of types of mechanisms/folds you can do it you only have 90 degrees to work with, as opposed to the full 180?

    • @thepop-upchannel4919
      @thepop-upchannel4919  Рік тому +2

      There isn't a specific list but you could start with looking at Tutorial 5. Then Tutorials 8 and 22 might be helpful. The V-Folds explained in Tutorials 2, 3 and 4 will all work at 90 degrees - you'll just have to adjust the angles to get the type of 3D effect that you want.

    I'm not sure but think this might be an example of a 4-bar linkage. A mechanical engineer would know for certain, one way or the other.

    • @thepop-upchannel4919
