DBG: Update, Loose Shock And Rebound Tightened, 20.5 Psi Air Rear Slicks, Best 60 Ft. Ever! 1.25 60

  • This video I made, starts with me climbing into the trunk, to tighten the right rear shock. Tight, it still made a slight clicking noise with movement. Have to remove it, and evaluate, next service time. installing the rear center section, axles, and brakes.I also did a quick service on Transmission, just changed the fluid. There was some clutch material, nothing terrible, still pink, so refilled with 5.5 qts. and good to go. All went together well, without any issues. Took Alaina for a ride, and then loaded onto trailer, and off to the track.
I added air to rear slicks, for 20.5psi, I had also tightened the rebound on the rear shocks, 2 clicks. I was pumped with a 1.25 60ft, should have been in the 9.28-9 range, but with 15 mile headwind, almost 1600 ft, still ran a 9.37 @ 141mph, with a 5.92 1/8. Made another run after and went 9.37. Although, did not meet the goal of 9.2x, I will. Stay tuned for the rest of the story....

When you see a good, clean, straight forward, power launch, like that, with minimal frame twisting up front. You're putting the power to the ground, thanks in part to the 4-link doing its job, and having the total suspension dialed in. Your 60 foot time was pretty damn (oops! I mean) Dad-gum impressive! (My bad Alaina😢. Tell Dad to put a Quarter in the jar for me. I'll settle-up on the next Live Stream. The Cougar is looking REAL good, Tim! #DBG

When it came time to pull my 9” 3rd member, I drained the oil, removed the driveline and pulled the axles. Then I went back under on a creeper head first from the back end of the truck. I pulled the pumpkin and rested it on my chest. Then my wife reached under and pulled me out toward the front between the jack stands and out the side. To put it back in she pushed me in from the side feet first between the jack stands toward the back. Then she’d go around to the back, grab my feet and line me up so I could stab the 3rd member back in the housing. Not much different than a bench press on wheels! 😂 Those were the days!

Hey DragBoss. I noticed you're running a cork pan gasket. Do they have a steel lined gasket for the C4? I run that type on my oil pan, but I'm not sure if that would work better on the transmission pan. It is supposed to give more crush and thickness to seal when bolts are torqued. I noticed the pan didn't have a magnet and not a big deal since you frequently service her. She rolls out for sure!!

    Lucas Transmission Additive
There’s a soap opera debate about the Lucas.
    Long Story - Short version
In a performance trans like yours…
It’s a good friction clutch modifier.
    The torque your engine produces.
    Golly Jeeeze ….
Plus you have that large capacity oil pan.
One small bottle of the Lucas Trans additive, next time you service your transmission.
